Chapter 040: Origins
The Healing Spell belongs to the Light element. Its healing formula is the same as the damage formula for Waterball and Fireball:
(Spirit × Skill Level + Energy Consumed).
From Yun Xi’s experience in her past life, most spells followed this same formula. It appeared that the mechanics behind various spells were universal.
There was no such thing as a spell being inherently stronger or weaker—the spell’s power was determined by your Spirit stat, skill level, and how much energy you invested.
The higher your Spirit, the more energy you could store; the higher your damage output, the more efficiently you could kill monsters and level up—leading to more stat and skill points in return.
It was all an interconnected, positive feedback loop.
Currently, Yun Xi’s Spirit stat was 42, giving her a maximum energy of 42 × 10, which still felt far from enough.
Once she hit Level 11 and advanced to a Mid-tier Spellcaster, her energy pool would undergo a massive transformation—ten times greater than that of a low-tier spellcaster, amounting to several thousand energy points.
Only then would she barely qualify to roam the wilderness alone.
Of course, that was only in areas with minimal corruption or spectral pollution.
After a bit of tidying up, Yun Xi took her invitation letter and headed to her neighbor’s house.
She was wearing a beginner spellcaster outfit she had bought from Huaguo’s official store. Its origin was unclear, but the design style differed significantly from the spellcaster sets common in Qinglan Town.
The outfit was made of spiritual silkworm silk—smooth and pure white—covering her from head to toe.
To others, the origin of her attire was indiscernible, and therefore, they couldn’t guess her level based on her equipment.
At social gatherings like this, using Appraisal on others was considered extremely rude.
And if you accidentally “appraised” someone with a higher Spirit stat, they would sense it immediately. That wouldn’t just be impolite—it would be a grave offense against a powerful individual.
Once she showed her invitation, Yun Xi was promptly welcomed inside.
Say what you will—Qinglan Town might be small, but its prominent families held real weight.
Recalling the book A Thousand Years of Qinglan Town History from the Useful Bookstore, Yun Xi hadn’t thought much of it at the time. But now, seeing one of those families in person, she realized just how deep the town’s foundations ran.
Not to mention that senior alchemist at the enchantment accessory store, who was clearly a Level 20+ powerhouse—yet somehow remained stuck in this little town.
That alone indicated that Qinglan Town likely harbored major secrets.
As Yun Xi mused, a graceful noblewoman approached her.
She was dressed in an elegant gown, with refined, beautiful features. Only the fine lines at the corners of her eyes hinted at her true age.
“Good evening, young lady. I’m Delina Tur, head of the Tur family.”
“Hello, Madam Tur. I’m Yun Xi,” she replied with a polite smile.
“Miss Yun Xi, you’ve just moved to Qinglan Town. Are you adjusting well?” Delina asked warmly.
“So far, so good…”
While the two women chatted, many guests around them were secretly observing Yun Xi.
Everyone had heard about the mysterious neighbor who never left her home.
Villa No. 26 on Feilan Street was a property many had wanted to buy, but ultimately passed on—thinking the small size wasn’t worth the price.
Yun Xi had purchased it without hesitation, so naturally, people were deeply curious about her background.
From experience, a young woman like her, appearing suddenly in Qinglan’s noble district, was usually either a fallen noble from a major city or someone driven here by special circumstances.
In their minds, anyone who could casually spend 10,000 gold coins had to be a noble—or at least a noble descendant.
In this era, only the strong could earn wealth, and the strong were often awarded noble titles by default, regardless of their country of origin.
Yun Xi was still young, and her energy fluctuations didn’t seem particularly intense.
But no one dared to underestimate her.
These local nobles could act tough in their own territory, but if they accidentally offended a powerful outsider, especially a high-level spellcaster—
They might not even realize how they died.
Even if Yun Xi were truly a fallen noble, with all her elders dead, they still wouldn’t dare mess with her—who knew if her powerful relatives had left her with some top-tier artifacts?
Just a single high-grade rune could easily kill any of them, even those at the intermediate class level.
Meanwhile, Delina was doing her best to get information out of Yun Xi, hoping to learn more about her background.
But Yun Xi remained composed and unbothered.
Every time Delina tried to steer the conversation toward Yun Xi’s past, Yun Xi simply smiled and said nothing.
After a few failed attempts, Delina finally understood—Yun Xi had no intention of sharing.
Though disappointed that she couldn’t cling to a powerful noble from a major city, Delina didn’t feel too disheartened.
At the very least, she could tell Yun Xi carried herself with uncommon grace—the confidence in her eyes was unmistakable. There was no doubt: her background was extraordinary.
“Miss Yun Xi, you’ve been staying at home for quite a while now. Haven’t you felt bored?” Delina asked.
Yun Xi shook her head and answered honestly,
“Lately, I’ve been studying some spell patterns. I haven’t felt bored at all.”
She wasn’t worried about exposing her magical knowledge—on the contrary, it served as a subtle warning.
After all, unusual spell knowledge often indicated a powerful heritage.
Moreover, given the limited understanding that Divinefall Continent natives had about spellcasting, even if she revealed this “wealth,” she had little to fear.
Just like how people immediately burned scrolls after reading their spell patterns, knowledge stored in the mind couldn’t be stolen.
That applied even to family-inherited spell knowledge.
Sure enough, Delina’s expression sharpened.
From Yun Xi’s words, she inferred several things:
“I came to Qinglan Town to find a new place for some training and experience,” Yun Xi added.
To her surprise, Delina suddenly broke into a cold sweat.
“You didn’t come here because of that incident too, did you?” she asked in a hushed, slightly fearful tone.
“What incident?” Yun Xi was surprised by her reaction, but didn’t lie just to probe. There was no benefit in getting tangled up in something dangerous.
In her past life, she had risked everything for missions because she lacked cultivation resources.
But this time was different—with a massive amount of crystal stones, she just needed to progress steadily and solidify her foundation.
Of course, if she encountered a rare mission with irreplaceable rewards, she wouldn’t back down either.
Even so, despite Yun Xi’s honest answer, Delina remained uneasy, clearly not believing her and assuming she was playing dumb.
