After being tossed around in the haunted school all night, when they returned to the villa, it was already past five in the morning.
The production team didn’t make things difficult for them anymore and let them go to sleep directly.
They never figured out who left the hairpin, and the prop team’s girl hadn’t seen it either, leaving them puzzled.
Everyone was tired and sleepy. After forcing themselves to take a shower and drink some water, the villa finally quieted down, with only the morning sunlight gently illuminating the entire living room.
Before Xie Wanxing went to sleep, he remembered he wanted to thank Fu Wenshan. Regardless, without Fu Wenshan, he might have stayed on the first floor until dawn or even been taken away by an ambulance.
But when he lay down, he was too exhausted. So, when Fu Wenshan came out of the shower, all he saw was a cocoon curled up in the blanket.
Xie Wanxing slept until noon, and when he woke up, the sunlight outside was quite dazzling, streaming through the cracks in the blinds, waking him up.
The bed next to him had turned cold, no one was sleeping there. Half of the pillow and blanket were neatly arranged, as if someone had purposely tidied up, all square and proper.
Xie Wanxing brushed his teeth and thought, Fu Wenshan’s meticulous style was more like a soldier than a musician.
He went downstairs in slippers. Most of the people in the living room were already up, and the camera crew was in position. However, the atmosphere in the whole living room was bleak, devoid of any cheerfulness.
“What’s going on?” Xie Wanxing asked as he found a spot on the sofa to sit down. He saw breakfast on the table and hesitated before reaching out, “Do we have to complete a task to have breakfast again?”
“No, today’s breakfast is free,” Xiao Jia explained with a faint smile, “but this is our last free meal. After this, we’ll have to pay for everything, from food to utilities. Well, we’ll use the twenty yuan given by the production team.”
Xie Wanxing immediately grabbed a boiled egg and a sausage from the table.
But upon hearing Xiao Jia’s explanation, his first reaction wasn’t to worry about his livelihood for the next two days, but to look past Xiao Jia and Zhou Ying, straight at Fu Wenshan sitting alone on the single sofa.
Fu Wenshan noticed his gaze and looked a bit helpless.
“Could you return that red envelope to me first?” Fu Wenshan said, seemingly not expecting that someday he would ask for something he had given away back. Although his face seemed expressionless, there was a hint of embarrassment in every move.
Xie Wanxing couldn’t help but smirk. He happened to have those two red envelopes with him, so he took one out of his pocket and asked Zhou Ying and Xiao Jia to pass it over.
Holding the red envelope, Fu Wenshan said to Xie Wanxing, “Thanks.”
Xie Wanxing was taken aback. He hadn’t thanked Fu Wenshan yet, but Fu Wenshan had already thanked him first.
But saying thank you now would seem too light-hearted. He pursed his lips and ultimately said nothing.
The focus of this episode’s planning was on the special haunted school, so for the remaining day and a half, considering the physical and mental health of the guests, the production team didn’t trouble them too much.
That day’s task was for them to prepare dinner themselves and weed the yard, in exchange for the evening’s water and electricity utilities.
Yes, water and electricity. The production team was so stingy that they even made them pay for water and electricity themselves.
However, it was Zhou Ying and Xiao Jia who received this task. Each of them wore a straw hat and squatted in the yard, resembling simple rural farmers.
Yuan Xier and Wu Ran were cleaning the house.
Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan were responsible for taking the 120 yuan budget from the entire group to the market half an hour away to buy provisions for the next two days.
When Xie Wanxing realized that he was paired with Fu Wenshan again, he had already given up resisting in his heart.
As they rode on the three-wheeled motorcycle provided by the production team, buzzing along the rural roads, Xie Wanxing even thought that this wasn’t so bad, as he had no idea how to ride a motorcycle anyway.
They arrived relatively late, and there was hardly any fresh produce left in the market. Xie Wanxing was a complete stranger to buying groceries and couldn’t even distinguish between good and bad vegetables.
He thought Fu Wenshan was like him, but Fu Wenshan was surprisingly skilled. He knew whether the vegetables were good or bad, whether the meat prices were inflated, and didn’t hesitate to bargain, driving the stall owners to retreat one by one, and even got a cucumber for free.
He didn’t seem like a well-bred rich young master at all, but rather like an experienced househusband.
While Fu Wenshan carried the pile of groceries back and busied himself in the kitchen preparing dinner for the night, Xie Wanxing couldn’t help leaning against the door asking him, “How do you know how to cook?”
He was holding an apple in his hand, which Fu Wenshan had washed and handed to him because he found Xie Wanxing getting in the way.
Today, they were supposed to cook dinner together, but Xie Wanxing was a genuine little young master who had never even held a broom, holding a kitchen knife and staring at the fish on the cutting board with wide eyes.
After hesitating for a long time, he finally made the first cut, but the fish remained unscathed, and his knife got stuck in the cutting board.
Unable to bear it, Fu Wenshan drove him out and even handed him an apple as if pacifying a child.
“Go over there and stay out of the way,” Fu Wenshan said with a stern face.
Xie Wanxing nibbled on the apple, watching Fu Wenshan busying himself in the kitchen, and surprisingly felt a bit warm. But then he immediately felt silly.
After last night’s life-and-death test, Xie Wanxing sincerely said from the bottom of his heart that he no longer disliked Fu Wenshan as much. His annoyance towards this person was more due to something other than the person himself.
He held back a breath.
It was the kind of frustration of being bullied with no outlet to vent.
Although emotionally he still found Fu Wenshan somewhat disagreeable, he couldn’t help feeling a bit guilty when he remembered yesterday, how Fu Wenshan had protected him all the way to the fifth-floor meeting room, even getting hit on the shoulder by a falling piece of wood along the way.
“When I was studying abroad, I did all the cleaning and cooking by myself,” Fu Wenshan answered his question while chopping fish. “Later, when I was a trainee, I rented a place by myself.”
Xie Wanxing just “Oh”ed and took another bite of his apple, not asking any more questions.
Their small talk had to end here.
He actually wanted to help, but the kitchen wasn’t his area of expertise. He couldn’t even chop vegetables properly.
Fu Wenshan mainly prepared hot pot, but he also made some extra dishes, including boiled fish slices, sour soup beef, and stir-fried broccoli.
Because Xie Wanxing had been in the kitchen the whole time, he could sneak a bite whenever a dish was ready. He secretly used a small bowl to scoop up some boiled fish slices and started eating while Fu Wenshan wasn’t around.
He still couldn’t believe that Fu Wenshan could really cook, and he couldn’t resist trying it out first.
But as soon as he took a bite, he was moved to tears.
This was undoubtedly the most delicious meal he had eaten since joining the production team.
He stared at the fish slice he had bitten into, and the cameraman zoomed in, asking, “Is it delicious?”
Xie Wanxing reluctantly nodded, “Comparable to a chef’s.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he heard laughter behind him. He didn’t know when Fu Wenshan had come back, and he looked at him teasingly.
Xie Wanxing’s face instantly turned red, like a primary school student caught stealing snacks, unsure whether to put down the bowl or continue eating.
Fortunately, Fu Wenshan just laughed and didn’t say anything to him. Instead, he walked past him to the fridge, took something out, and handed it to him.
“I just made pudding. Take it out and share it with everyone,” Fu Wenshan said casually.
Xie Wanxing looked down and saw five egg puddings in his arms, wondering when Fu Wenshan had made them.
“I don’t eat pudding. You guys can have it yourselves,” Fu Wenshan added.
As Xie Wanxing sat outside digging into the pudding with everyone else, he, surprisingly, felt that Fu Wenshan was somewhat like a devoted wife and mother.
During dinner, everyone in the group was amazed by Fu Wenshan’s cooking skills.
Zhou Ying and Wu Ran almost got into a fight over the last piece of boiled fish slices. Zhou Ying grabbed it while showering Fu Wenshan with praises, “Fu ge, with your skills, forget being an artist, even if you start live streaming cooking, you’ll have a huge fanbase. I’ll be the first to support you and buy a whole submarine!”
He got distracted and ended up having the last piece snatched by Wu Ran, making him shout in frustration.
Xie Wanxing was already almost full, calmly watching them bicker. He had accidentally drunk some alcohol, mistaking it for a beverage. With his low alcohol tolerance, a little beer was enough to make him dizzy, and now everyone seemed a bit blurry to him.
Meanwhile, Fu Wenshan and Wu Ran were already engaged in a drinking contest.
Although the production team had asked them to save money, the alcoholic drinks in the fridge were free, but these careless guests took them all out.
Except for Xie Wanxing, who couldn’t hold his liquor, there were also Fu Wenshan and Wu Ran, both of whom had a high tolerance for alcohol.
Perhaps it was because it was raining outside that day, or because eating hot pot had brought up the atmosphere, or maybe it was because Zhou Ying and Xiao Jia had been urging them, Fu Wenshan and Wu Ran unknowingly downed a dozen bottles of alcohol.
Xie Wanxing had been calmly observing the situation the whole time, and no one could tell he was already drunk.
It wasn’t until later when everyone was leaving to go back to their rooms that others noticed he couldn’t even walk properly, only managing to maintain a mysterious expression on his face, pretending he wasn’t drunk.
Zhou Ying glanced at Xie Wanxing’s cup, “Oh my goodness, Xie-ge only had half a cup of beer, and yet he’s in this state. That’s quite rare.” Then, he looked at Fu Wenshan, “Fu-ge, can you take Xie-ge upstairs? Need any help from me?”
Fu Wenshan looked down at Xie Wanxing. Xie Wanxing’s face was pale, his lips were red, his eyes were moist, and he was looking up at him with a confused expression.
Fu Wenshan was actually drunk too. He had just drunk too much, and after being provoked by Wu Ran, he downed a whole glass of white wine. Mixed drinks were always the strongest, so he was feeling a bit dizzy too.
But he didn’t realize it himself.
He felt like he wasn’t drunk.
With a reach of his hand, he effortlessly princess-carried Xie Wanxing. The camera crazily focused on them, but he still had a nonchalant expression, “Hmm, I’ll take him upstairs.”
Zhou Ying stared dumbfoundedly as Fu Wenshan carried Xie Wanxing away. He turned to Wu Ran and said, “Xie-ge will probably go crazy tomorrow.”
Seeing a grown man being princess-carried like that, especially someone like Xie-ge who cares so much about his image, must be quite a sight.
But Wu Ran couldn’t hear what he said clearly. He had drunk as much as Fu Wenshan did, so he replied with something off topic, “Yeah, it’s our turn to do the tasks next time.”
Zhou Ying: “…” He forgot there was another drunkard here.
When Fu Wenshan carried Xie Wanxing up the stairs, Xie Wanxing regained some consciousness. But when Fu Wenshan put him on the bed, his head became fuzzy again.
When Fu Wenshan let go of him, Xie Wanxing grabbed Fu Wenshan’s collar and, with a pair of drunken eyes, said, “Who said you could leave?”
Fu Wenshan was caught by Xie Wanxing, and he knelt on the bed, with Xie Wanxing lying underneath him.
But it seemed like both of them didn’t realize how ambiguous their position was.
Xie Wanxing, still drunk, remembered that he wanted to thank Fu Wenshan, but they had been followed by cameras all day, and he hadn’t found the opportunity.
So, after glaring at Fu Wenshan for a while, his gaze suddenly softened.
“Thank you, you bastard,” he mumbled unclearly, revealing his inner thoughts about Fu Wenshan. “Although you’re not a good person, if not for you last night, I might have been carried out with an ambulance. I’ve changed my view of you a bit.”
He patted Fu Wenshan’s shoulder with an air of authority.
Fu Wenshan was quite dissatisfied, “How am I not a good person?”
Xie Wanxing sneered disdainfully, “You bastard, you slept with me, and you still have the nerve to call yourself a good person,” poking Fu Wenshan’s chest with his finger. “You actually dared to sleep with me. You’re done for. I hold grudges, you know. I’ll remember you till I’m in my grave.”
Fu Wenshan was very unhappy, glaring at Xie Wanxing with his bloodshot eyes, “Didn’t you sleep with me too? Did I do it alone?”
He thought for a moment but felt too embarrassed to admit he was a virgin.
But he stared at Xie Wanxing and snorted coldly, “Sleeping with someone is as casual as drinking water. It’s just having sex, right? With my looks and physique, did I treat you unfairly? Not charging you was already giving you a good deal.”
Xie Wanxing was about to explode.
That was my first time, my first time ever, you know?
And you still want to charge?
I damn well want compensation for the emotional distress!
But he couldn’t say that.
Although his brain was numbed by alcohol, he still vaguely remembered—A man’s dignity must not be lost!
“I was always a top before. But because of you, you bastard, my ass hurt for two days,” Xie Wanxing said more and more absurdly. He had never slept with anyone in his life, so he didn’t know if he was a top or bottom. Originally, he was poking Fu Wenshan’s chest, but somehow he ended up on top of Fu Wenshan’s body. “If I didn’t have a good temper, I would have thrown you into the river to feed the fish.”
But as he looked at Fu Wenshan, his drunken brain suddenly realized that what Fu Wenshan said was not wrong.
With his face and physique, even if he went to find a top-notch male escort, he wouldn’t find anyone as good-looking as Fu Wenshan.
His eyes flickered, suddenly inspired.
He smiled maliciously, exerted force, and pulled Fu Wenshan down completely, while flipping over him.
Looking down at Fu Wenshan from a superior position, his face flushed, his long hair cascading down like a waterfall, and his eyes seductive, he resembled a seductive spirit from “Liaozhai Tales.”
Fu Wenshan was dumbfounded.
Xie Wanxing enthusiastically declared, “Fu Wenshan, you little scoundrel, do you think you can just sleep with me and make my butt hurt for free?”
He triumphantly reached out and grabbed Fu Wenshan’s butt, feeling like a little genius.
“I want to take my turn!”
He wanted Fu Wenshan’s butt to hurt too!
Fu Wenshan’s eyes were already red, the alcohol he drank today had turned into fire flowing through his limbs and body.
It was still raining outside.
In the pattering rain, he heard Xie Wanxing saying he wanted to sleep with him.
Though he didn’t know why Xie Wanxing suddenly wanted to sleep with him.
But he solemnly looked at Xie Wanxing’s face for a while, yes, still so good-looking.
Then let’s do it.
Once is fine, twice is also okay.
