The next morning, the production team sent all the guests to the airport by car.
Everyone was flying to different destinations. Yuan Xier was rushing to a shooting schedule, Xiao Ya was going directly to the filming crew, and the rest had their own arrangements. So, at the airport, this group of guests from this episode was about to disband on the spot.
They had spent four days and five nights together, and had gotten along quite well. Moreover, they had experienced the adventure of the haunted school together, which had elevated their friendship to a new level. For a moment, everyone felt a bit reluctant to part.
Zhou Ying and Xiao Ya were both teary-eyed, on the one hand guarding against paparazzi around them, on the other hand tearfully saying that they should meet up again in the future.
Xie Wanxing adjusted his hat, not quite understanding their tearful farewell, “The companies we work for, aren’t they all in Jiangcheng? After our schedules, we’ll definitely see each other again.”
Zhou Ying and Xiao Jia glanced at each other, seeming to agree.
The two of them then casually wiped their eyes as if nothing had happened.
“Alright, your flight is about to leave. You should go.” Xie Wanxing patted their shoulders. “See you back in Jiangcheng, and good luck with your work!”
Zhou Ying nodded vigorously, then left with Wu Ran and Xiao Jia, dragging their suitcases along.
A few minutes later, Yuan Xier also left.
In the end, only Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan remained, facing each other in the VIP lounge.
They were on the same flight, both in first class, with seats next to each other.
Xie Wanxing drank coffee to refresh himself, thinking that the name “Unexpected Encounter” for this program was indeed appropriate. Who would have thought that just a month ago, he wanted to strangle Fu Wenshan, but after participating in the program, they became friends with benefits?
Life is full of surprises indeed.
Thinking about this, he couldn’t help but glance at Fu Wenshan again. In fact, he was still a bit confused and couldn’t quite believe everything that happened last night. He even suspected it was all just a dream.
In the dream, Fu Wenshan not only helped him relieve himself but also asked him to be a long-term friend with benefits…
Even more bewildering was the fact that instead of giving Fu Wenshan a slap, he had actually agreed.
But just as he finished thinking, Fu Wenshan picked up a carton of milk from the table, pierced the straw, and handed it to him, briefly saying, “Drinking coffee on an empty stomach may upset your stomach.”
Xie Wanxing: “…”
It seemed it wasn’t a dream.
Xie Wanxing didn’t refuse either.
As he bit on the milk straw, he thought Fu Wenshan did have some redeeming qualities, at least he was quite caring.
After giving him the milk, Fu Wenshan picked up his tablet and started watching a movie.
The plane journey lasted for more than two hours, and Xie Wanxing slept through the whole flight. He hadn’t slept well the previous night and had been in a half-dream state. When he got off the plane, both his and Fu Wenshan’s agents and assistants were there to pick them up.
The two of them exchanged glances, seeming to want to say something but feeling a bit awkward.
After hesitating for a moment, Fu Wenshan glanced at Xie Wanxing and said, “I’ll go first. We’ll get in touch later.”
Then he lowered his hat and walked in the opposite direction.
Xie Wanxing, being a mentally mature adult, naturally understood what “get in touch later” meant. His cheeks couldn’t help but flush a bit, and it wasn’t until his assistant, Wang Xiaoming, popped out from somewhere and called his name that he snapped out of it.
“Hey, Xie ge, why is your face a bit red? Is it hot in the airport?” Wang Xiaoming asked Xie Wanxing while helping him with his luggage.”I feel like the air conditioning is pretty cold.”
Xie Wanxing couldn’t be bothered to respond to him. He adjusted his mask and asked, “Where’s the car parked?”
“It’s outside. Lian jie also came. She wants to ask you how you felt about the program,” Wang Xiaoming asked Xie Wanxing with gossip in mind. “Xie ge, is Yuan Xier as pretty in person as she is on TV? I haven’t seen her yet.”
Xie Wanxing smiled, “Do you like Yuan Xier?”
“Yeah, I like the cold goddess type. She’s so beautiful. When she was a model, I thought she was like a little fairy, but she was mostly abroad at that time,” Wang Xiaoming said as they walked. “How was it getting along with her?”
“It was fine. Yuan Xier is nice,” Xie Wanxing recalled the experience objectively. “The people on this program were all relatively easy to get along with. No one was particularly difficult, and there wasn’t anyone stirring up rumors.”
The only disharmony was probably between him and Fu Wenshan.
As they chatted, they had already arrived at the nanny car. Xie Wanxing got in and saw Lian Dan sitting in the back seat. He pulled down his mask and joked, “Lian jie.”
Lian Dan looked at him and teased, “I thought you’d have lost a couple of pounds from being starved these past few days, but you still look rosy. So, did the program team bully you guys this time?”
Xie Wanxing leaned back in the back seat, sighed, and said, “Don’t even mention it, Lian jie. The program team didn’t mistreat us when it came to meals, but do you know what I’ve been through?”
Xie Wanxing briefly recounted the haunted school incident and working at the café to the two of them, and laughter occasionally filled the car.
Lian Dan laughed while also feeling a bit sorry, “It’s my fault. If I had known there was a haunted school, I wouldn’t have let you go. From now on, I’ll make sure there are no horror elements in any variety shows I sign you up for.”
Xie Wanxing felt relieved, “Thank you, Lian jie.”
Lian Dan asked a few more questions, such as how he got along with the guests and chatted with Xie Wanxing about his work schedule for the next while. As they chatted, the car arrived at the residential complex where Xie Wanxing lived.
Xie Wanxing’s residence was called Cuhe Bay, with extremely high privacy and well-equipped facilities. Many wealthy people owned villas here.
As their car approached Xie Wanxing’s home, he noticed another car parked in front of the neighboring villa.
“Looks like someone finally moved into this house,” Xie Wanxing remarked casually.
The neighboring villa had been on sale for a long time, but no one had moved in. He had seen people moving furniture in and out before he went to record the show, but he hadn’t seen who the owner of the villa was.
“If you’d like, you can go say hello. Maybe the person living here is someone you know,” Lian Dan suggested. “We’re neighbors after all, we should get to know each other sooner or later.”
Xie Wanxing thought it made sense, so he got out of the car with Lian Dan.
As a result, he had only taken a few steps when he saw the owner of the neighboring villa also getting out of his car. He was dressed neatly in black, with a sharp face and wheat-colored skin, wearing a baseball cap.
This attire, this face, Xie Wanxing had seen them just over an hour ago.
When Fu Wenshan turned around and saw Xie Wanxing standing less than ten meters away, he also froze.
The two of them quietly and perplexedly stared at each other, both suspecting they were seeing things.
But their agents had already greeted each other. Lian Dan and Jiang Han were both top agents in the industry and had known each other for a long time. Now that they discovered their artists were neighbors, they put on very sincere business smiles.
“What a coincidence, our Xiao Xie just finished recording the show with your Mr. Fu, and now they’re neighbors.”
“Yes, we just moved in. Why did we move? Oh, this place is very private and secure, so we moved here. We’ll have to trouble you to take care of us more in the future.”
Amidst the agents’ mutual compliments, Xie Wanxing coughed and asked Fu Wenshan, “Did you buy this villa?”
Fu Wenshan nodded, “Yes, my family developed this neighborhood.”
Xie Wanxing inexplicably found this line familiar.
A month ago, he seemed to have shouted at Fu Wenshan, saying that the Longhua Hotel was owned by his family.
Now it was his turn to enter someone else’s territory.
As if to prevent him from overthinking, Fu Wenshan added, “This place was just completed, and my sister left me a unit here. I only moved in recently.”
He subtly indicated that he hadn’t become so obsessed as to stalk Xie Wanxing.
“I know,” Xie Wanxing wasn’t that narcissistic. After all, the villa had been undergoing furniture removal before he recorded the show.
But he really hadn’t expected life to coincide like this.
Just after they separated from the same bed, they turned into freshly baked neighbors.
Both of them were a bit speechless as they looked at their own houses.
The villas in this neighborhood were spaced widely apart, ensuring privacy, but even so, they were still in the same area. It only took a few minutes’ walk to reach each other, and a morning jog could easily bump into each other.
As they looked at each other, a thought simultaneously occurred to them—
This distance was really convenient for having an affair.
