Not only did Jiang Ning have an electric blanket, but even the dog had its share.
She picked a small piece for it to lie and put it on the lazy sofa, plugged in the battery box, and turned on two electric heaters. It quickly raised the room temperature.
Feeling the warmth, Da Hui and Xiao Bai crawled out of the foam box and ran to the lazy sofa to compete for a spot with the dog.
At this critical moment, the dog showed its leadership style, allowing them to nestle against its body and they huddled together for warmth.
Jiang Ning checked the foam box and found that two large rabbits were dead.
They were probably scared to death.
The others seemed a bit wilted, but the newly born bunny didn’t seem to know anything.
Da Hui and Xiao Bai, having been toughened up by Coke, became particularly brave, plus their fur kept them warm. They didn’t seem frightened when wearing clothes, but they ignored their own babies.
Jiang Ning took out the smaller ones and placed them on Coke’s belly, then scolded the two, “You gave birth, so you’re responsible for raising them.”
Coke snarled: “Did you hear that? Take care of them properly, why do you keep on throwing them to me, what is this supposed to mean!”
Despite complaining, the dog didn’t kick out the dozen or so babies but nursed them as if they were its own.
Jiang Ning took the remaining large rabbits to the bathroom, used an electric shock baton to kill them all, and then threw them into the space for later cooking, she would either stew or make them spicy when she had time.
Whether she could afford to raise them was a question, but the taste was crucial.
Back in her room, Jiang Ning stared at the glowing charcoal fire, feeling somewhat distracted. What did Huo Yishen mean by this?
He nearly knocked her door down, handed her the fur coat, and even provided a charcoal stove.
He always had a cold and stern demeanor. He also never flinching in the face of life and death. Yet, when he knocked on her door, his face was filled with anxiety.
Could it be that… he was afraid she would freeze to death and no one would teach Doudou?
Late at night, the tiredness made her drowsy, and she felt too lazy to think.
The world was vast, and sleep was crucial; whatever the issue, she could deal with it tomorrow.
Jiang Ning took off her coat, slipped into the warm quilt, and quickly fell asleep.
In her past life, she almost froze to death, surviving only by wrapping all her clothes around herself.
This time, the warmth of the quilt was as comforting as spring, and she truly felt content.
It’s easy to feel drowsy in the cold, so she stayed in bed until ten without wanting to get up.
The walkie talkie rang, “Jiang Ning, are you awake?”
She reached over and answered, “Hmm, I just woke up.”
Her voice sounds a bit lazy, with a hint of nasal tone.
Huo Yishen asked with concern, “Did you catch a cold?”
“No, I’m still in bed,” I yawned, “How about you and Doudou?”
“I’m up, making breakfast for Doudou. Do you want some?”
She quickly declined, “No need, I’m not hungry yet. I’ll eat breakfast later.”
The dog jumped on the bed, scratching the walkie talkie with its paws, “Woof!”
“Oops…”
The walkie talkie was knocked aside.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, Coke is just causing trouble.” She quickly picked it up, “I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay, take care to keep warm.”
She turned off the walkie talkie. Jiang Ning wanted to scold the dog, but it suddenly jumped up on the bed.
It spins around, jumps and does not stop.
Then, it crashed into her arms.
“You little rascal.” She scolded, pulling its doggy mouth, “How can you be so naughty?”
The dog burrowed into the quilt, its bright eyes looking at me, still tilting its head to act cute.
She wrapped it in a blanket, petting its head, “Where were you at this time in your past life?”
There was ice and snow everywhere, and countless people were frozen to death. She couldn’t imagine how it survived.
Even its skin was frozen off and was covered in sores.
She didn’t dare to recall that scene, her eyes moistened, “Coke, in this lifetime. I’ll make sure you live well.”
“Woof, woof.” What’s wrong with poop scooper? Its paws scratched at her, comforting her.
“I’m fine, you’ll be fine too.”
She stayed in bed until around eleven, then went into her space to brush her teeth and wash her face.
It was cold outside, so she bundled up, but coming back inside made her sweat. Luckily, she didn’t stay out long; otherwise, she would have gotten sick from the sudden change in temperature.
There is an electric heater in her room, which feels warm as spring, but opening the door feels like being hit with a blast of cold air.
She couldn’t take out the electric heaters and the battery box, but it wasn’t ideal to keep the rabbits in her room.
Upon checking, one of the baby rabbits had unfortunately passed away.
She cleaned up the other room and took out a lazy sofa pad with an electric blanket and transferred the rabbits there.
At the same time, she reminded the dog, “Coke, keep an eye on them. Don’t let them chew the wires, and no peeing or pooping on the electric blanket, or I’ll cook them.”
The dog agreed, pressing down on Da Hui’s teeth and he rub it: “Got it? Speak!”
She ventilated the room, then pretended to light a charcoal stove in the living room.
Holding a hot rubber water bottle, she stood on the balcony and looked into the distance.
Yesterday, the city was submerged in floods, but it was frozen overnight.
Without the sound of rain, the surroundings were eerily silent, as if time had stopped.
Even after experiencing it again, Jiang Ning’s heart was still full of fear
Fortunately, the temperature didn’t drop further, giving humans a chance to breathe a little.
But negative 19 degrees was still a catastrophic disaster for the southern regions, and she couldn’t even turn on her phone.
She closed the doors and windows, turned off the heaters she had been using all night, and replaced them with two new ones to avoid overuse and malfunction.
With the heaters and the charcoal stove, the living room finally had heating.
In this cold weather, a hot soup was needed. She made beef stew with radishes, along with vegetables and rice. For the dog’s meal, she added freeze-dried canned food.
Sitting by the heater, the aroma of the food was delightful.
After eating her fill, she didn’t want to wash the dishes, so she tossed them into the space to wash later.
She opened the window to air out the room, then cuddled up with the hot water bottle and flipped through a medical book.
Zheng Weili knocked on the door to say hello, just to make sure they were still alive. She didn’t even open the door and was in a hurry to get back into bed.
Zhang Chao caught a cold, but thankfully they had medicine on hand.
Just as she was about to take a nap, the walkie talkie rang, “Doudou won’t have class today. Does Coke need to exercise?”
She asked the dog, “Coke, do you want to exercise?”
Coke tilted its head, then got up after a moment, “Woof!”
A day without running around makes its whole body uncomfortable.
Jiang Ning opened the door and pushed the dog out, “Off you go!”
Soon, the sound of Coke running downstairs echoed through the staircase.
Feeling a bit worried, she decided to go out as well.
Coke had taken off its mink coat and it was in Huo Yishen’s hand.
After running a few more laps, he then took off the dog’s mink coat.
In the end, even the thermoregulatory clothes were removed.
Jiang Ning felt a bit concerned, “Isn’t it cold?”
Huo Yishen explained, “Mastiffs can quickly adapt to various harsh environments. It’s not beneficial for them to be too covered up during exercise.”
Although they have short fur, it’s very dense and provide an excellent insulation against the cold.
They heat up quickly during exercise, but dogs don’t have a developed sweat glands.
Jiang Ning stood nearby with the hot water bottle and noticed that Huo Yishen didn’t look bulky at all, he’s not even wearing the mink coat, “Aren’t you cold?”
“Cold.”
Oh, well… what to do then?
Reciprocating his concern, she offered him the hot water bottle, saying, “Here, take this.”
Huo Yishen didn’t take it, looking at her, “What about you?”
“I have another one.” She had dozens stashed in her space.
“Thank you, I’ll give it to Doudou.”
Well, whatever, she had done her part.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door downstairs, “Little Jiang, Little Jiang, are you guys okay?”
