Chapter 61: Proposal

Hearing this, others also looked over and found that Tang Hongmei was no longer bleeding.  “This is amazing; the bleeding stopped instantly.”

“Yes, she could actually stop the bleeding with acupuncture; I’ve learned something new.”

However, Tang Xiaorou still didn’t dare to relax and took out silver needles to continue acupuncture.

Tang Hongmei, in a daze, saw Tang Xiaorou. Seeing the other woman’s serious expression as she treated her, she felt ashamed. That morning, she had gone to find trouble with Tang Xiaorou, but now, not only did the other woman not hold a grudge, but she was also doing her best to save her.

Just then, Zheng Fang arrived with doctors from the military hospital.

Tang Xiaorou heard the commotion and withdrew the needles, then tidied Tang Hongmei’s clothes. “The patient is here. The massive bleeding has stopped, but she’s lost too much blood and her condition isn’t good; she needs immediate treatment.”

“Alright, we’ll take her to the hospital.” The middle-aged female doctor in the lead was Ren Fei, the director of the obstetrics and gynecology department at the military hospital. She looked curiously at Tang Xiaorou, but saving the patient was urgent, and she didn’t have time to ask anything more.

Two people behind her carried a stretcher and carefully moved Tang Hongmei onto it.

“Please inform the patient’s family to come to the hospital as soon as possible. We’re taking her away now.”

After the doctors took Tang Hongmei away, everyone started asking each other: “Who was that person just now? Where do we find her family?”

Tang Xiaorou looked directly at Zhang Wanyu and said, “Since Zhang Wanyu had a conflict with her, she must know who that person is.”

Hearing this, others also realized this and stared at Zhang Wanyu. “Yes, you must know; otherwise, you wouldn’t have fought with her. And you hit her too hard; you almost killed her.”

“How was I supposed to know she was pregnant? So it’s not my fault.”

Seeing Tang Hongmei taken away by the doctors, Zhang Wanyu breathed a sigh of relief and spoke confidently again.

“Zhang Wanyu, even if you didn’t know, the fact that you beat someone and caused a miscarriage is true.” When Tang Xiaorou examined Tang Hongmei, she had already confirmed that Tang Hongmei had lost her baby.

The other military wives nodded in agreement: “That’s right, you beat her baby to death; that’s too much.” In the end, everyone looked at Zhang Wanyu accusingly. “Now, tell us who that woman was so we can find her family.”

“You…Tang Hongmei attacked me first.”

Tang Xiaorou said, “So her name is Tang Hongmei. Tell us who her family is so we can find them.”

“Yes, tell us quickly.”

The others had a very bad impression of Zhang Wanyu, thinking that such a person could actually enter the art troupe, tarnishing its reputation.

“So she’s Yuejin’s sister; they live next door to me.” One of the military wives was surprised. “Why haven’t I seen Tang Hongmei these days?”

“This isn’t the time to talk about that; let’s go to their house and inform them.”

“Yes, yes, let’s go.”

Tang Xiaorou went with them, but before leaving, she looked deeply at Zhang Wanyu before following the others.

After everyone left, Zhang Wanyu was about to go back when Zheng Fang stopped her. “Zhang Wanyu, the leader wants you to go to the office.”

Zhang Wanyu’s face darkened.

“Why didn’t you say so earlier?”

Zheng Fang was amused. “How was I supposed to say it in that situation? Anyway, I’ve passed on the message; you can go or not.”

“You…”

Zhang Wanyu’s face flushed with anger, and finally, she went back to the art troupe resentfully.

On the other hand, when Tang Xiaorou and the other military wives found Tang Yuejin’s home, they only found his sister-in-law. “Are you Tang Hongmei’s sister-in-law? She’s at the military hospital now; your family should go see her.”

Xu Sue’s face changed upon hearing this.

“What…something happened to our Hongmei? I’ll go right away.”  She quickly went inside to get money, and then rushed to the military hospital.

Tang Xiaorou nodded. Tang Hongmei had a caring sister-in-law, so her brother must also treat her well.

Seeing Xu Sue go to the hospital, the others decided to go home. “Since her family is going, we’ll go home too.”  However, they all looked curiously at Tang Xiaorou and asked, “Comrade Tang, I heard you found a job in town; do you work at the hospital?”

“Not the hospital, it’s a pharmacy.”

“That’s amazing too. To be able to find a job on your own. We want to work too, but we have to wait for the organization to arrange it. Besides, there are more family members than positions; it’s not our turn.”

Tang Xiaorou smiled and comforted them, “Wait patiently; your turn will come.”

The group walked home talking.

At the military hospital, Tang Hongmei was immediately sent to the operating room for a D&C. Because she had lost too much blood, she was immediately given a blood transfusion. Although the situation was critical, the surgery was successful, and she was fine.

“Great, thank you, doctor.”

Xu Sue quickly thanked the doctor.

The surgeon was Ren Fei. She shook her head. “You should thank a family member who provided emergency treatment. I don’t know her name, but if she hadn’t stopped the massive bleeding, the patient might have died before reaching the hospital.”

Hearing this, Xu Sue remembered it. “Okay, doctor, I’ll find out later.”

“Alright, go keep the patient company.”

Ren Fei also felt tired and went back to her office to rest. But thinking about how dangerous the patient’s situation was and how the woman had stopped the bleeding on the spot, she found it unbelievable.
