Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart? Chapter 31

Chapter 31: I Know You’re Protecting Your Darling!

“Xu Mo, it’s all because of Sister’s mistakes…” Xu Wanting said, tears welling up in her eyes.

“Enough! Stop pretending!” Xu Mo glanced at her, completely indifferent.

He dared to guarantee that if he were to go back with this group of people now, they would mock him to death. He might not have a chance to turn things around in the future.

In his previous life, he was played to death like this. Even after death, he didn’t see these people grieving much.

If it weren’t for Xu Junzhe and the family confronting them twenty years later, reminding them that they had a younger brother who was killed by them, these people wouldn’t have gone crazy!

Seeing that they remained silent, each with a grim expression, Xu Mo didn’t bother to say much. He pulled his backpack and took out a stack of money.

“Xu Mo, are you really not coming back home with us? Are you really going solo?” Xie Bingyan stared at him intently.

Xu Mo looked up, seeing her blackened face, and chuckled, “Your Xu family is quite amusing. Do you still think I’ll go back to being your dog?”

“Xu Mo—” Xie Bingyan was furious.

“Don’t! Don’t call me!” Xu Mo interrupted her. “I don’t want to waste my breath with you! I did some calculations earlier. Four years, five hundred each month. I roughly estimated that I owe you around a hundred thousand! Besides, I valued this body at two hundred thousand! So, altogether, I should owe you three hundred thousand! That’s probably why you keep coming to me again and again!”

Xu Mo picked up the money and threw it on the ground in front of Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming, bundle by bundle. “Three hundred thousand, I’m giving it back to you! From now on, I owe nothing to your Xu family! What’s mine, I’ll take it all! What’s not mine, I don’t want a single penny of it!”

Xu Deming was taken aback and asked, “Where did you get so much money?”

Xu Mo chuckled, “Do you think I’ll starve outside? Come on, I’m the top scorer in the college entrance examination! And don’t you think there are other people in the world besides your Xu family? Trust me, the world is vast!”

“Brother, why don’t you come back home with us? Look, Mom and Dad are already angry! They’re not in good health. Why bother making them angry?”

At that moment, a voice came over, and Xu Mo looked up abruptly to see another person in the crowd.

If it wasn’t Xu Junzhe, then who?

He was standing next to Xie Bingyan, but he hadn’t spoken until now.

At this moment, he was almost supporting Xie Bingyan, with a look of sadness on his face.

Xu Mo chuckled again. “Junzhe, how did you do in the college entrance examination this time?”

Xu Junzhe’s expression changed slightly, but he remained silent.

“Come here! I have something to say to you,” Xu Mo said.

Xu Junzhe frowned. “Brother, what do you want to tell me? Can’t it be said from a distance?”

“No! It’s a whisper. If you’re not willing to listen, then forget it!” Xu Mo shook his head.

Xu Junzhe exchanged glances with Xie Bingyan, Xu Deming, and the others.

Xie Bingyan said coldly, “Junzhe, go and see what this unfilial son wants to say.”

“I’ll tell you, Xu Mo, you’ll never set foot in our Xu family’s door again in your life! You’re done, completely done!”

Xu Mo glanced at Xie Bingyan and chuckled. “On the contrary, I’m doing very well now. There are plenty of people wanting to give me money!”

Xie Bingyan’s face turned ashen.

Xu Junzhe hesitated whether to approach or not, while Xu Deming angrily warned, “Xu Mo, if you dare to harm your younger brother, I won’t let you off!”

“Oh? Protecting the younger brother?” Xu Mo chuckled. “Don’t worry, I won’t harm him! I’ve said it, whoever touches me, I’ll strike back. But if no one touches me, I won’t strike!”

“Xu Mo, don’t hurt anyone. It’s all because of the sisters not being good!” Xu Wanting cried.

Xu Mo gave her a cold glance, feeling disgusted.

But he didn’t say anything else and simply said to Xu Junzhe, “Junzhe, come over here!”

Upon hearing this, Xu Junzhe could only say, “Brother, it’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have left home! Blame me as much as you want, but don’t blame Mom, Dad, or the sisters!”

“Alright, alright! I won’t argue with you!” Xu Mo sighed inwardly at Junzhe’s cleverness. He had to admit that Xu Junzhe hid his thoughts exceptionally well, far beyond what Xu Mo could easily unravel at present.

Even if he spoke up now, it would be meaningless. After all, he lacked evidence for many things.

Although these people seemed genuinely upset, Xu Mo knew very well that they were just crying crocodile tears. They had no idea where the real problem lay.

“What do you want to tell me, brother?” Xu Junzhe cautiously approached, fearing that Xu Mo might harm him with the knife.

Xu Mo concealed the knife and chuckled, “There are plenty of things I want to tell you. Why are you so afraid of me? I won’t harm you! First, pick up these bills.”

Xu Junzhe was taken aback, sighing, “Brother, how can I pick these up? No matter what, you can’t treat Mom and Dad like this!”

“You pick them up if I tell you to! Why do you have so much to say?” Xu Mo snapped.

Upon hearing this, Xu Junzhe glanced back and saw that Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming did not react, so he lowered his head to pick up the money on the ground.

However, the moment he lowered his head, Xu Mo lifted his foot and kicked it over.

“Xu Mo—” Xu Xuehui exclaimed in surprise.

Xu Junzhe was caught off guard and heard a loud bang as he was kicked to the ground by Xu Mo. Seizing the moment while the others were slow to react, Xu Mo pounced again and delivered a resounding slap across his face.

*Smack!*

“Junzhe!”

The expressions of the others changed drastically, and they moved to rush over.

Xu Mo immediately slammed the knife onto the ground with a clang.

“Anyone dares to come forward, I’ll chop them!” Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming were astonished by Xu Mo’s audacity.

The others involuntarily stopped in their tracks.

Seeing that they kept their distance, Xu Mo turned his gaze back to Xu Junzhe, who had been harshly slapped, and silence fell.

“Xu Mo, let him go!” Xie Bingyan was afraid Xu Mo would use the knife to harm Xu Junzhe and a hint of panic appeared on her face.

Xu Mo glanced at her, his eyes cold.

Ignoring the reactions of Xie Bingyan and the others, Xu Mo continued to stare at Xu Junzhe, his eyes filled with murderous intent. “You, little bastard, remember this: I know exactly what you’re thinking! Very well! Don’t think you can get away with stirring up trouble. You’ll never succeed, you illegitimate child!”

Xu Junzhe’s face turned pale as Xu Mo raised the knife, nearly scaring him out of his wits. “Brother, what are you saying?”

“You’re quite the actor, aren’t you? Probably the best in the world at pretending! But no matter how well you pretend, you’re still a bastard, an orphan, just like me!” Xu Mo stared at him coldly, smiling. “Look at them, pretending to cry, but deep down they know you’re just a bastard!”

Xu Junzhe’s expression changed.

“They might not understand what you’re doing, but I do! This isn’t over! I’ll settle the score with you slowly, one by one! Remember this: you’re not a Xu, you’re not part of this family! Even though they treat you like one, deep down they know you’re just a bastard!”

“You little mongrel, I might not be able to kill you now, but someday, someone will!”

Xu Junzhe’s face turned pale, his expression filled with fear. He sensed the murderous intent in Xu Mo’s words.

This was no joke.

“Remember this!” Xu Mo turned to Xie Bingyan, Xu Deming, and the others. “Remember my words! Though I can’t kill this little mongrel, this bastard, now, there will come a day when he will die!”

Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming’s faces turned pale.

“Let him go!” Xu Deming said coldly.

“I know you’re protecting your little darling, Mr. Xu Deming! Don’t worry, I won’t hurt him now! Although this little mongrel, this bastard, isn’t your biological son, he still holds a high place in your hearts!” Xu Mo chuckled as he looked at Xu Deming.

“But, a mongrel is still a mongrel, a bastard is still a bastard. If he’s not your biological son, then he’s not your biological son!”

With a sudden swing, Xu Mo landed a punch on Xu Junzhe’s head.

Xu Junzhe let out a painful scream, blood gushing from his nose.

“Junzhe?” Xie Bingyan exclaimed in shock.

Seeing her about to rush over, Xu Mo waved the knife in his hand.

“Let him go! What have you done to him? You’re the one…” Xie Bingyan wanted to shout something, but in an instant, she choked up and couldn’t utter the last two words.

“I’m the bastard? Is that right?” Xu Mo chuckled.

Xie Bingyan’s face suddenly turned pale.

“You’re absolutely right! I’m the mongrel or the beast! Because my parents were that way to begin with! Since they were, naturally, so am I!” Xu Mo released Xu Junzhe, lifted the knife, and stared coldly at the crowd. “I’ve returned the money to you! I’ve said what needed to be said! From now on, I owe your Xu family nothing! Take this mongrel back! After all, he’s your lifeblood!”

“Junzhe!” Xie Bingyan rushed over to help Xu Junzhe up as he lay bleeding with a pale face and a terrified expression.

“Doctor, Doctor, call 120!” Xie Bingyan hurriedly shouted, her face filled with fear.

“Xu Mo, come home with us!” Xu Wanting hadn’t expected the situation to turn out like this. She cried as she pleaded with Xu Mo.

“Save your fake tears, Xu Wanting, no matter how many times I say it, you won’t listen or understand! That’s enough, I’m leaving!” Xu Mo glanced at her, stepped back, and stopped bothering to argue with these people.

“Doctor, hurry, call for a doctor!” Xie Bingyan, seeing Xu Junzhe bleeding, was already in a state of panic.

Xu Wanting wanted to stop Xu Mo from leaving, but she hesitated to actually intervene. She could only watch him leave.

Now, she felt as if her heart was being torn apart, not knowing what to do. She felt like she couldn’t breathe, as if her heart was being clenched tightly by someone!
