Chapter 36 The Successful Bike Sharing Project!

On the other side, Xu Mo was busy, but he managed to take a trip to the hospital and brought back a check-up report.

“Thank you, doctor!”

Over a month ago, he had some tests done on himself. There were many health issues: low blood sugar, anemia, and a deficiency in cardiac hematopoietic function. At that time, the doctor gave him some advice for recuperation.

For the past month, Xu Mo had been exercising and recuperating. Now that he had some free time, he got another check-up report done.

His health had improved significantly compared to over a month ago. He had gained some weight and looked much better, but the issues of hypoglycemia and anemia were still not resolved.

For the past two months, Xu Mo still needed to focus on recuperating as much as possible.

After keeping the medical report, Xu Mo returned to the company. Tang Lei, Gu Huanxi, and Li Banzhuang were still distributing flyers. They had just finished distributing at the subway station before Xu Mo arrived.

Originally, this round of distribution was almost over, but Tang Lei, Gu Huanxi, and Li Banzhuang had nothing else to do, so they decided to distribute a bit more. Therefore, they moved to another location and continued distributing.

Now that they were done with their tasks, it was time to go back and inspect the results.

As Xu Mo stepped out, he noticed someone riding his bike conspicuously at the hospital entrance.

“Xu Mo, are you feeling alright?” Gu Huanxi asked with concern upon seeing him return.

“I’m fine! Are we all done? Let’s grab something to eat after work and then check out the results!” Xu Mo smiled.

Li Banzhuang looked excited. “Xu Mo, someone actually rode our bikes! I saw it just now. A lady rode away with one of our bikes!”

“Really?”

“Another office worker rode one away too!” Tang Lei laughed. “We were handing out flyers nearby, and I saw him scanning the code with his phone! Checking out the flyer while riding!”

“I saw that too on the hospital side! Someone rode up to the hospital entrance!” Xu Mo chuckled.

“Do you think anyone might have lost theirs?” Gu Huanxi asked, concerned.

“It’s possible! So in a couple of days, we’ll need to organize a retrieval, get these bikes back, and rearrange them!” Xu Mo smiled.

“Let’s eat first, and then we’ll see the results later!” Tang Lei exclaimed.

“Alright, let’s eat first!”

The four of them were quite excited, and Xu Mo personally cooked up a large table of dishes to fill everyone’s stomachs.

After finishing their meal, the four hurried to the rented office.

There were three people on duty here, all programmers hired by Xu Mo, responsible for managing and maintaining the smooth operation of the app.

There was also one server operator.

At the moment, the three of them seemed a bit overwhelmed, so they probably needed to hire more people soon.

“How many do we have now?” Xu Mo asked immediately upon entering.

“We don’t know yet, Boss, you can check for yourself!” one programmer spoke up.

Xu Mo nodded, took his seat, and powered on his computer.

Tang Lei and Gu Huanxi immediately gathered around.

As the computer screen began to refresh, suddenly a number popped up: 103!

“Over a hundred people?” The three of them exclaimed.

“It’s still updating! Still refreshing!” Xu Mo held his breath as he watched the data jump.

“103, 135, 169, 185, 205, 265!”

“265!”

The data finally stopped at 265.

The three of them looked at each other, unable to hide their delight.

“To reach over two hundred people on the first day! We’ve only deployed a thousand bikes! The acceptance rate… it’s amazing!”

“And it’s not even rush hour yet. If it were, it would probably increase! Plus, we need to continue distributing flyers tomorrow!” Xu Mo explained.

“I think just a thousand bikes are not enough. We need to expand our scale a bit!” Gu Huanxi chimed in.

“This is already in the works! In a couple of days, we’ll have more bikes delivered, and this time, there will be even more! I’ve already started ordering the third batch of ten thousand!”

Upon hearing Xu Mo’s words, everyone became excited.

On the first day alone, they gained over two hundred users and received over seventy thousand in deposits. Although they hadn’t reached the breakeven point yet, this was just the first day. As time goes on, more and more people will start using the bikes.

“Absolutely! As long as our bikes aren’t lost, we can do it!” Tang Lei calculated and exclaimed, “This project is easy to promote. These days, we’re just trying it out!”

Xu Mo nodded with a smile, “Let’s give it our all! Tomorrow, let’s continue! No, let’s see during the rush hour later, how many users will there be? Can we reach four hundred?”

“Alright!”

With excitement filling their hearts, everyone busied themselves while waiting.

The data in the app kept refreshing, and funds kept entering the accounts. The deposit for each bike was 298 yuan, and users needed to pay the deposit to use the bikes.

In just an hour, the number of users reached two hundred and eight.

When they saw this data, everyone became even more excited.

“Wait! Let’s keep waiting! It will increase!”

“It’s almost time to get off work!”

Li Banzhuang said with a smile.

Everyone nodded.

Xu Mo waved his hand and ordered some KFC to be delivered to everyone.

They ate in the office while waiting for the data to continue refreshing.

Time quickly passed, and it was already six o’clock in the afternoon. As expected, just after six o’clock, dozens of messages popped up.

Swipe, swipe, swipe!

“More!” Gu Huanxi stared at the screen, eyes fixed.

With a few more swipes, the number of users increased again. In just ten minutes, more than twenty new users joined, depositing five to six thousand in total.

Of course, some users were concerned about their deposits being deducted. After riding the bicycles, they immediately applied for refunds. The probability of refunding the deposit was about ten percent.

Despite this, the prospects for this project remained very promising.

“Xu Mo, you’re amazing! This bike-sharing idea is bound to succeed! It’s already on its way!”

“320! We’ve reached 320 users!”

“360! It’s already at 360!”

“380, plus another 20 users!”

“It’s still increasing! Getting to 400 users shouldn’t be a problem! It’s just a pity that there are quite a few refund requests, around fifty or sixty!”

Tang Lei chuckled, “Refunds are no big deal. When they use it again, they’ll need to deposit again. As long as they keep using it, it’s all good!”

“Exactly!”

“So, are we now…” Li Banzhuang stared at everyone, paused, then with fervent eyes, asked, “considered successful?”

“Successful!” Tang Lei exclaimed.

Xu Mo smiled, “Half-successful! The first step of a thousand miles journey. There’s still much to do! First, in a couple of days, we need to retrieve the bikes. We have to control the loss rate; it shouldn’t exceed five percent!”

“That’s the biggest concern now!” Gu Huanxi chuckled.

“No worries! We have GPS. We’ll just follow the signals to find them! It’s okay if the loss rate is a bit high in the initial stage; we can lower it later!” Xu Mo grinned. “We’re halfway there, let’s celebrate!”

“Haha, great! Let’s celebrate!” The group cheered, excitement written all over their faces.

Xu Mo wasted no time and immediately took everyone to the market to buy large lobsters and crabs, returning to celebrate together.

With just seven people in their small company, they had officially launched. The road ahead was long and challenging.

“Sister Wanting, the report’s back! Xu Mo went to the hospital!”

“Oh? How are the test results?”

“Not very optimistic! Malnutrition remains an issue, along with low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)  and anemia. The attending physician said his heart condition hasn’t improved. However, compared to over a month ago, he’s improved quite a bit! It seems he’s been diligently taking care of himself this past month!”

The secretary handed the report to Xu Wanting, who took a glance and fell silent.

“Sister Wanting, I’ll go busy myself first.”

“Go ahead,” Xu Wanting replied, opening the medical report to examine its contents.

Xu Mo’s health had always been problematic.

They just didn’t know.

He had these issues back when he was in the orphanage!
