Chapter 138: It Turns Out You’re Like This, Ling Jue
Ye Wenxin lazily raised her head, looking at Ling Jue, who was still reflecting on herself. Despite being a usually steady and mature person, now she was a little too cute.
“Big Sister Ling, we’re going back soon. Do you have anything else you want to do?”
“Things I want to do?” Ling Jue looked at Ye Wenxin again, as if planning on where she wanted to taste this time.
“Things other than me.” Ye Wenxin stepped back instinctively. She did not want to cuddle with Ling Jue inside the dilapidated little cabin for the whole day.
“Well…there’s nothing.” Ling Jue shook her head after considering it.
“Big Sister Ling, you truly lack ambition in your pursuits,” said Ye Wenxin with a hint of resignation. Ling Jue smiled awkwardly, suddenly realizing this fact about herself as well.
“However, I really want to see Little Sister Wenxin refining pills,” added Ling Jue upon seeing Ye Wenxin’s bored expression.
Alchemy, the thing that brought the two of them together, ultimately also brought this journey of theirs to an end.
“Alright, Big Sister Ling. I’ll show you the newest Alchemy technique I’ve developed.” Ye Wenxin smiled mysteriously, conjuring up ten pill furnaces from her storage ring, immediately throwing ten different herbs into them and began the refining process.
Ling Jue watched, already stupefied, not knowing how she should describe Ye Wenxin’s eccentric cultivation method.
But considering Ye Wenxin’s level of mastery in Alchemy, she did not disturb her, quietly waiting for an hour until Ye Wenxin stopped, and ten pills were released from the furnaces.
Each pill was sixth-grade or higher, and the quality of the finished products was also very high. But if Ling Jue were to try it herself, she doubted she could manage it.
“This is not another one of your cave adventures, or your old family secrets, right?” The impact of this revelation was too much for Ling Jue. She remembered how Ye Wenxin always vaguely brushed off these topics and suddenly felt she could not extract any useful information this time either.
Ye Wenxin smiled awkwardly, feeling like if she did not use this trick, she would not find a suitable explanation anytime soon. She had originally wanted to show Ling Jue her growth, but now she found herself mired in silence.
Ling Jue chuckled softly and walked over to Ye Wenxin, wiping the sweat from her forehead. “It’s fine. I believe whatever Little Sister Wenxin says.” It was a blind faith, but that blind faith made Ye Wenxin feel warm……
Time flew by, and a few days passed in a hurry. There was only one week left until the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament.
Ling Jue, both as the Azure Wings Sect’s Alchemy teacher and as Medicine King Valley’s Junior Valley Master, had to go back. Though Ye Wenxin was not particularly interested in the tournament, according to the Azure Wings Sect’s rules, all disciples were required to attend once the tournament commenced. Failure to do so would be considered betraying the sect.
The Azure Wings Sect had always attached great importance to the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament, as did other sects. To put it bluntly, the tournament was a day for disciples to show off and compete against others.
Everyone wanted to uphold the reputation of their sect, so naturally, they would bring out all their fighting strength to the fore.
“Little Sister Wenxin, I’m ready to go.” Ling Jue had gotten up early and changed into a new set of men’s clothing. Although her face had not changed, the outfit added a touch of heroic spirit to her appearance.
Ye Wenxin preferred the more feminine Ling Jue, but with Ling Jue dressed like this, she only gave one glance before jumping onto Ling Jue’s flying magic item, the Mountain River Fan.
Ling Jue knew that Ye Wenxin had always disliked her male appearance, but as they were going to leave the forest now, Ling Jue had to revert to the Peerless Gentleman.
When the folding fan appeared in her hand once more, Ling Jue had already transformed into a young man, standing at a height of 1.8 meters, looking exceptionally handsome. Ye Wenxin, who could have looked down at Ling Jue before, now had to tilt her head up slightly.
“Little Sister Wenxin, do you dislike this face so much?” Ling Jue smiled helplessly, feeling like Ye Wenxin did not realize that she had no interest in men at all.
“Yeah, it’s a bit annoying. I used to be able to look down at you, but now I have to lift my head,” Ye Wenxin replied subconsciously, then noticed Ling Jue laughing up her sleeve even more vigorously.
“Big Sister Ling, what are you laughing about?”
“Nothing, I just think Little Sister Wenxin is very clever but seems a bit slow in some aspects.” Ling Jue smiled gently. But Ye Wenxin completely ignored this handsome man’s smile, her face unchanged and heart unmoved.
They put some distance between them. Ling Jue was not surprised by Ye Wenxin’s rejection, but she still felt a bit regretful.
The Azure Wings Sect was not far from here, but because other sects also needed to arrive a few days early, as the Junior Valley Master of Medicine King Valley, Ling Jue naturally had to receive her sect’s people and prepare for the upcoming Immortal Sect Grand Tournament.
Perhaps, after stepping down the Mountain River Fan, the next time they meet would probably be the day of their parting.
Ling Jue looked at Ye Wenxin, who appeared relaxed and very indolent as she sat on the Mountain River Fan with her eyes squinted. Ling Jue wanted Ye Wenxin to lean on her shoulder and sleep a little longer, but she was rejected.
“I’m afraid I’ll oversleep later. I’ll be in trouble if your admirers see me so close to you.” Thinking of Ling Jue’s stans gave her another reason to keep her distance from Ling Jue.
Ling Jue could not help but laugh and whispered in her ear, “But we’ve done everything we can.” Her tone was very plaintive, and even though she had a male face, her gentle eyes remained the same. They were close enough to smell each other’s scent.
The scents of the two were similar yet completely different.
While Ye Wenxin briefly zoned out, Ling Jue opened the fan, quickly swinging it in the air. The fan collided with some unknown object, shattering it into pieces.
Looking again, a few people flying on swords appeared from nowhere. They were wearing the robes of God King Sect (Shen Wang Ling) disciples and looked at Ling Jue with unfriendly faces.
Especially the leading man, his eyes seemed to want to tear Ling Jue into pieces.
“What did you do?” Ye Wenxin saw the man’s eyes and immediately understood that these people from the God King Sect had a grudge against Ling Jue.
The God King Sect was also one of the Ten Great Immortal Sects, but unlike Medicine King Valley which focused on pharmacology, the God King Sect focused on weaponcraft.
From ordinary weapons to divine weapons, most of the weapons in this world were made by the God King Sect. However, Medicine King Valley had always kept a neutral stance towards the God King Sect. In Ye Wenxin’s mind, only one possibility emerged.
“I don’t know.” Ling Jue was as puzzled as Ye Wenxin. She had no idea how many crimes she had committed with her male face.
Being regarded as a formidable enemy by the man gave Ling Jue, who was against men, an even less favorable impression of him.
Now, seeing these people committing violence in public, Ling Jue’s face became even more unsightly, but she still maintained the Peerless Gentleman’s grace and did not directly take their lives.
“I dare to ask, do any of you have a grudge against me?” asked Ling Jue politely. In just a breath, Ye Wenxin saw her holding three bottles of medicine in her hand.
One bottle contained colorless and odorless laxatives, another bottle contained itch solution, and the third bottle contained something unfamiliar, probably a new concoction made by Ling Jue herself.
The fact that the bottle was red indicated that the contents inside must be dangerous.
“What grudges do we need? A pretty boy like you, we kill one when we see one!”
The lead man could not help but spit, not hiding his hate towards Ling Jue. However, Ling Jue just smiled slightly, “Could it be that I stole your wife? No, with your appearance, you probably couldn’t even find a wife…”
As if accustomed to such scenes, Ling Jue spoke naturally, but the sarcasm in her words was evident.
“You…”
“Perhaps it was your fiancée. Maybe the young lady found you too ugly and unworthy, so she left you.” Ling Jue continued to add, her tone still gentle, but her words infuriated the lead man, his face turning livid as he raised the axe in his hand, ready to fight Ling Jue to the death.
Ling Jue still maintained her humble smile, but the bottle of medicine in her hand had been replaced with the laxative. As a member of Medicine King Valley, Ling Jue’s knowledge of medicine was top-notch, and her cultivation level among the younger generation was excellent. However, as the Junior Valley Master, Ling Jue intended to give this ignorant young man a memorable lesson.
Seeing Ling Jue’s stance, the group of men realized they had no chance of winning and looked toward the figure standing next to Ling Jue, trying to remind Ye Wenxin of Ling Jue’s true nature.
“Miss, the person in front of you is a beast, preying even on eighty-year-old grandmothers!”
Ye Wenxin’s lips twitched slightly, but she managed to suppress her urge to retort. Considering the stance of the immortal sects, she, as an Azure Wings Sect outer disciple, could not easily cause trouble. Besides, with Ling Jue by her side, why should she go out of her way to find trouble for herself?
Ye Wenxin took a step back, fearing that the situation might change, especially since Ling Jue accidentally scattered the medicine powder in her direction. Seeing Ye Wenxin’s considerate gesture, Ling Jue’s lips curled up slightly. However, the members of the God King Sect had no idea about Ye Wenxin’s intentions and thought she genuinely believed their words, so they continued to badmouth Ling Jue even more vigorously.
“Not only that, but he also killed pregnant women, raped, looted and committed every crime imaginable!” The man became more and more excited as he spoke, mentioning people to beasts.
The others behind him felt quite embarrassed, feeling that their leader was blowing things out of proportion. Ling Jue still smiled, but she retrieved the laxative bottle and replaced it with the red one.
This should be the most severe punishment Ling Jue intended to give. Ye Wenxin was curious about its contents and asked the leader, “What else?”
Seeing Ye Wenxin finally respond to him, the leader of the God King Sect group became even more enthusiastic with his accusations. Little did he know that Ye Wenxin was only engaging him to witness Ling Jue’s methods as she deliberately pushed him toward a dead end.
A gust of wind blew, and Ling Jue gently waved her fan. Before the man could continue speaking, he felt difficulty in breathing.
Within the span of the second breath, he was kneeling on his flying sword. If it were not for the people around him supporting him, he would have already fallen from the sky.
By the third breath, his entire body lost its awareness, and even his voice could not come out. He could only gaze desperately at Ling Jue across from him, not even knowing when she had made her move.
