Chapter 142: Fengya So Fragrant
“I don’t hate anyone.”
She replied, raising her voice. Besides Fairy Fengya, Ye Wenxin believed that she could kill anyone as easily as blowing off dust.
“This Master only hopes for you to be the champion.”
“This Disciple only wants to be an ordinary person.”
Fairy Fengya had spoken a lot today, but some of her words did not sound like something she would say. Ye Wenxin felt that it must be the necklace manipulating Fairy Fengya. Although she did not know its purpose, she could not waver.
“Besides the manuals, don’t you want anything else?” Fairy Fengya finally could not help but ask what Ye Wenxin really wanted.
“I want you…” Or, as she should say, she wanted to kill Fairy Fengya.
But she could not say such blatant words to Fairy Fengya’s face, yet without those key words, her statement sounded like suggestive flirtation.
“When you reach the Nascent Soul stage.” Fairy Fengya’s answer was still the same as before, indicating that she was not just trying to brush off Ye Wenxin’s request.
Premature dual cultivation would not benefit Ye Wenxin at all. This was both goodwill and because Fairy Fengya could not accept the dual cultivation method to improve one’s cultivation.
The reason she agreed was because she had no other choice, and with the addition of Granny Zhu Ling’s guarantee, she was willing to interact with Ye Wenxin.
If not for this, even if Ye Wenxin had saved her twice, Fairy Fengya would not have cared about her at all, let alone actively come to negotiate with her.
Winning the champion title in the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament could prove that Ye Wenxin was a strong cultivator, and if Fairy Fengya announced her to the world, it would not cause much of a sensation.
But if she were not the champion, just a student with considerable talent in Alchemy, it would only attract murderous intent. Ye Wenxin was too weak, and her fate would only end in being killed.
For this plan to work, Ye Wenxin needed to become stronger—strong enough to have the ability to defend herself.
“This won’t do, that won’t do; it’s too senseless.” Ye Wenxin had lost her patience for beating around the bush and felt that Fairy Fengya was trying to make her work for nothing.
Even if Fairy Fengya was beautiful, beauty could not put food on the table. Ye Wenxin rationally refused, and just as she was about to leave, she felt a gust of wind. When she looked again, Fairy Fengya was standing in front of her once more.
“Besides the manuals and dual cultivation, what else do you want?” It was the same stubborn question, somewhat frustrating.
Ye Wenxin looked at that ethereal and beautiful face, unsure of what Fairy Fengya was so persistent about. But perhaps because of Fairy Fengya’s persistence, Ye Wenxin wavered a little.
“Let’s do this then: if I can become the Azure Wings Sect champion, you must grant me one wish. Of course, I won’t ask you to do anything outrageous.” Ye Wenxin finally agreed, extracting an all-purpose wish from Fairy Fengya.
If they continued to argue, Ye Wenxin was worried that Baili Mu, who was walking around somewhere, would end up loathing her.
This time, Fairy Fengya agreed quickly. Ye Wenxin continued, “Of course, there are many experts at the tournament, and I may not necessarily win the champion title. If I can’t do it, Master, you should find a new disciple. After all, it’s too tiring to be your disciple, and I don’t want to die unwittingly.”
Actually, what Ye Wenxin wanted to say the most was the second option. If she got too close to Fairy Fengya, it would increase suspicion towards her when she killed Fairy Fengya. Of course, she could not tell Fairy Fengya that she was participating with a mindset to lose. If she did, she would probably lose sleep tonight…
Outside, a gentle breeze blew. Ye Wenxin boldly grabbed Fairy Fengya’s hand, and although Fairy Fengya was puzzled, she did not resist.
“I’ll check your pulse,” explained Ye Wenxin, and she began to carefully take Fairy Fengya’s pulse.
Recently, Fairy Fengya’s pulse had become much calmer, indicating that she had indeed stopped cultivating.
Feeling relieved that Fairy Fengya was finally obedient, Ye Wenxin sighed, but then she felt that her attitude was somewhat problematic. She came here to trap Fairy Fengya, yet she found herself feeling happy about Fairy Fengya’s health.
“Master, opportunities cannot be forced. You should just behave and rest for a while. Oh, this is the Heart-Cleansing Pill I refined. When you feel restless, just take one, it can…” Before Ye Wenxin could finish her sentence, Fairy Fengya had already popped one into her mouth.
Ye Wenxin shut her mouth. She could not understand how her nagging had made Fairy Fengya feel restless.
As a cultivator in her fifties, Ye Wenxin felt she did not nag much.
But…
“Anyway, Master, take care of yourself. Remember, don’t cultivate. I don’t want to end up lighting incense for you without having learned anything.” Ye Wenxin could not help but remind again. Fairy Fengya nodded slightly, staring at the bottle in her hand for a few more seconds.
“Don’t worry, there are no strange drugs in it. If two medicinal properties clashed, it would destroy the Heart-cleansing Pill’s effectiveness,” added Ye Wenxin, thinking that Fairy Fengya was worried about this.
Fairy Fengya then set the bottle down and looked at Ye Wenxin. “Thank you.” Her voice was soft, but there was an indescribable stiffness, probably because she was unused to being polite with people.
Ye Wenxin realized that Fairy Fengya was not as mysterious as people said. She was like a sheltered young girl, a bit clumsy and unable to express her emotions.
After speaking, Fairy Fengya left on her sword, taking away the fallen leaves. Ye Wenxin did not linger either. She went around looking for her roommate Baili Mu, only to find her cultivating in meditation somewhere.
“Baili Mu, I’m done with my business. Let’s go back,” reminded Ye Wenxin, and Baili Mu exhaled a mouthful of turbid air, ending her cultivation, looking at Ye Wenxin with confusion.
“So soon?”
“What else do you think we were going to do?” Ye Wenxin was speechless. Actually, she felt that the time had dragged on. Their conversation had been meaningless, revolving around one topic, and even somewhat boring at times.
“I thought it was your sweetheart.” Baili Mu blushed slightly, and Ye Wenxin was perplexed. “I’m pure and innocent. Even if I had a sweetheart, it wouldn’t be appropriate to mess around in our room.”
Baili Mu looked a bit embarrassed. “But weren’t we talking about why you came to the Azure Wings Sect? You mentioned it was for someone.”
Ye Wenxin remembered the unfinished topic and smiled. “Yes, for someone, but not a lover.”
“Hehehe, could it be an enemy?” joked Baili Mu, unaware that she just so happened to mention the relationship between Ye Wenxin and Fairy Fengya.
“Close enough…” Ye Wenxin replied vaguely, pushing open the door again. The room still had a lingering fragrance, but the woman from earlier was nowhere to be seen.
“It smells so good. It seems I misunderstood. It must have been your friend who came… But what’s this scent? It’s so fragrant.” Baili Mu also picked up the peculiar scent in the air and could not help but sniff a few times.
“It’s Fairy Fengya’s scent,” explained Ye Wenxin with a smile, and Baili Mu burst into laughter.
“I never knew you were so humorous, Ye Wenxin. Fairy Fengya rarely even visits the inner sect; how could she come to the outer sect?” Baili Mu laughed heartily, and Ye Wenxin forced a smile, feeling that everyone in this world had issues.
Even though she was telling the truth, whenever it involved Fairy Fengya, everyone seemed to think she was lying. But Ye Wenxin had no intention of continuing to justify herself. She did not know what else to say, so she remained silent, listening to Baili Mu talk about the outer sect disciples’ recent courses as well as some interesting incidents.
As the night grew deeper, Ye Wenxin found herself unable to sleep. Despite feeling drowsy earlier while riding on Ling Jue’s flying magic item, now that it was time to sleep, she found herself without any drowsiness.
She looked at Baili Mu sleeping soundly on the other bed, a faint smile on her lips, as if she were having a pleasant dream. Reflecting on her own state, after coming back from her journey down the mountain, she felt a lack of passion in the midst of the mundane.
If there was one thing that surprised her, it would naturally be the appearance of Fairy Fengya.
Thinking about the emotionless deal with Fairy Fengya, Ye Wenxin could not help but curl her lips. Somehow, she even felt that winning the champion title for Fairy Fengya would not be so bad.
At least, her relationship with Fairy Fengya as master and disciple would not be as shady as it was.
Drowsiness finally crept in slowly. Early in the morning, Ye Wenxin was late as usual. However, this time, the elder did not show any displeasure. Instead, he was rather courteous, announcing to everyone that Ye Wenxin had passed the exam to become a Beginner Alchemist, and that they should learn from her.
It felt as embarrassing as the illusion of wearing a red scarf back on Earth. What was even more terrifying was that, for some reason, everyone thought she was only a Beginner Alchemist, and no one knew that she was already an Advanced Alchemist.
But apparently, just being a Beginner Alchemist was enough. Her little brothers admired her even more, proud to be Ye Wenxin’s underlings.
Fatty began reporting recent events to Ye Wenxin, saying that nearly a quarter of the outer sect disciples had joined their group.
Ye Wenxin was not surprised by this result. After thinking for a moment, she took out some spirit stones and pills and asked Fatty to handle them.
Immediately afterwards, Ye Wenxin checked on everyone’s progress in learning the Nine Palaces Sword Technique.
None of the core members disappointed her, especially Fatty, who made rapid progress. His bulkiness lent power to his movements without losing flexibility. Finally, Ye Wenxin could see what a flexible Fatty looked like.
Thinking about the upcoming Immortal Sect Grand Tournament, Ye Wenxin also taught them a cultivation method she had obtained from Shura Hall’s backwoods, instructing them to cultivate it in conjunction with the Nine Palaces Sword Technique.
“Big Sister, you’re really amazing. You saw through the things I couldn’t figure out in an instant.”
“Big sister, I feel like I’m about to break through.”
Several people excitedly shared their joy. Ye Wenxin remained indifferent. As the Demon Lord, she had plenty of experience teaching disciples. Of course, she also had more disciples poached away by others.
