Chapter 14
Ji Fu removed the mechanical arm from her hand, her face as pale as paper. She leaned lightly against the wall, taking quite some time to catch her breath.
The light brain trembled slightly: [Life signs rapidly declining, do you need emergency medical attention?]
It was Flame sending the message through the light brain.
“No need,” Ji Fu took off the light brain from her wrist and connected it to An Zaiyang’s light brain.
The reason she knew An Zaiyang would be here today was because more than two months ago, she had infiltrated the Alliance’s prison system.
However, it was only a normal system used for recording clocking in and out, personnel transfers, and task execution.
Alliance’s internal systems were all equipped with advanced firewalls, and forcefully invading them carried a certain risk. But using the interface in An Zaiyang’s light brain was different.
[Drip.]
[Intrusion completed.]
Ji Fu retrieved her own light brain.
The powerful nutrient she used had strong side effects, and she needed to hurry back to the academy. Before her life signs plummeted, she had to lie down in the medical compartment.
She glanced around the room one last time.
Where An Zaiyang had been sitting and drinking just now, she found a concealed safe. Using her light brain to scan it, she cracked open the safe.
After the safe opened, something extremely familiar came into view.
Ji Fu lowered her eyes and looked at the medication stored in the safe, which had been frozen.
This was the medication that Ye Ping had injected her with before.
After hesitating for a moment, Ji Fu suddenly had a bold idea.
She pulled out the unused medication and turned to leave the room.
The hotel corridor was very quiet, and all the surveillance devices had been turned off by her.
As she walked, she used her hand wearing black gloves to activate various devices in the corridor.
Beep, beep, beep.
The alarm sounded continuously, and the previously quiet hotel suddenly became lively.
Before the hotel security arrived, Ji Fu pushed open the door to the emergency exit, but instead of leaving directly, she followed the emergency exit all the way up to the top floor.
Above the top floor, the entire view of Dahe Star was visible.
This was one of the most prosperous planets nearby, and under the night sky, neon lights flickered.
Ji Fu stood at the highest point, keeping herself alert, and directly operated her light brain.
Drip, drip, drip.
[Operation completed.]
The next morning, at the Alliance’s highest office.
Cheng Hao’s face was grim as he quickly entered the office.
“An Zaiyang is dead,” he said as soon as he entered the room.
Fang Yanli was sitting at the large desk, and upon hearing this, she looked up. “When did it happen?”
“Last night, in the hotel suite on Dahe Star,” Cheng Hao said with a deep look in his eyes. “His heart was shattered by someone’s strike. The investigators at the scene said there were signs of a fight in the hotel, but it’s unclear why An Zaiyang didn’t use his mech.”
“It’s suspected to be done by someone he knew.”
“An Zaiyang did have a bad track record, and he’s made enemies over the years, but at this juncture…” Another person in the office said in a deep voice, “It just doesn’t feel quite right.”
Cheng Hao brought up the investigation report and sent it to everyone’s light brains.
“The surveillance devices in the hotel malfunctioned due to an electromagnetic instability caused by an alien beast attack a few days ago.”
“Both the room and all of An Zaiyang’s belongings were checked, and nothing was taken.”
Fang Yanli said coldly, “Nothing was stolen?”
“That’s what the report says.”
Since these matters didn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the highest office, they hadn’t seen the scene and had only received this report.
“Executive,” another person rushed into the office in a hurry, and began, “Last night, the prison system previously managed by An Zaiyang went out of control and released a large number of inmates who had been specially managed by An Zaiyang before!”
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the room held their breath.
It wasn’t because of anything else, but this style of action, for some reason, made many people in the room feel an unprecedented sense of familiarity.
Cheng Hao’s expression changed drastically, and the sensation of scalp tingling, previously dominated by Yun Chi, returned.
Most importantly, if he remembered correctly…
“Among the released prisoners, Qin Chuyue is also included.” Before Cheng Hao could ask, the other party had already given a definite answer.
Qin… Chu… Yue.
One of Yun Chi’s companions back in the day.
Three years ago, Yun Chi used a black mech to attack the Alliance, resulting in the destruction of thirty-three major planets including the highest star where the Alliance headquarters was located.
And her most capable aides were this Qin Chuyue and…
“What about Azure?” Hearing this name again, everyone present felt as if they were transported back to another era.
Qin Chuyue was manageable, just a B-rank.
But the other person was truly renowned.
“Azure is being held at the highest level of the star-level prison, under special supervision. Given An Zaiyang’s level, he simply couldn’t have contacted him.”
Hearing that Azure’s name wasn’t among those released, Cheng Hao couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
But Qin Chuyue’s escape wasn’t good news either.
And…
“This all seems too coincidental.” Cheng Hao frowned. “An Zaiyang’s death is suspicious enough, even if someone did have a grudge against him, how could they have conveniently released Qin Chuyue?”
Of course, it wasn’t just Qin Chuyue who was released.
But they had faced off against Yun Chi before, and they knew not to underestimate anyone around her, so they were especially concerned about this.
Could it be that Yun Chi wasn’t really dead?
But from the explosion at the highest level prison to today, they had investigated almost everyone involved, especially focusing on all the low-level species.
But none of these people were Yun Chi.
“Prepare a starship.” Cheng Hao paused slightly, then looked up at Fang Yanli.
“Where to?”
Fang Yanli’s voice was cold. “Interstellar Academy.”
When the highest office’s starship landed above the Interstellar Academy, everyone in the academy was in an uproar.
“Who? Who’s coming?” The students didn’t want to go to class anymore, crowding by the windows to look in the direction where the starship was hovering.
“A red starship, who else could it be?”
“Damn, is it true? Is the Executive Director of the highest office coming to the school?”
As the starship descended, Special Class A happened to be training in the square. Zhou Lu Hai looked up and saw the academy’s president hurrying over. He blinked.
Coincidentally, today Wan Die had come to wait for Wan Feng after class, and she was nearby.
Seeing Fang Yanli and the others coming down from the starship, she asked softly, “Why is the Executive Director here again?”
Again?
Zhou Lu Hai blinked, then glanced at Wan Feng.
Wan Feng didn’t say anything. Fang Yanli’s status in the Alliance was special, so she wouldn’t come to the Interstellar Academy without something special happening.
For some reason, he felt that this had something to do with Ji Fu.
Sure enough, after Fang Yanli exchanged a few words with the president, mentioning something, the president hesitated for a moment and then called for Du Ming.
Du Ming wasn’t an important teacher at the Interstellar Academy, usually not teaching classes and serving as the school doctor instead.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t be called to a scene like this.
“You went to see Ji Fu today, right? Where is she?” Wan Feng looked at Wan Die.
Zhou Lu Hai blinked. Was this related to Ji Fu?
Wan Die shook her head, “I didn’t see Sister Ji, she seems to be sick. She’s in the medical room, and the medical compartment has been closed all this time.”
“Go check on her in the medical room.”
Outside the medical room at this moment, Du Ming looked at Fang Yanli’s cold profile and couldn’t help but ask, “Is there something the Executive Director wants from Ji Fu?”
One was a newly enrolled F-level freshman, and the other was the strongest officer of this generation in the Alliance. Du Ming couldn’t imagine what connection there could be between these two.
Seeing that Fang Yanli was followed by two senior members of the highest office, he couldn’t help but feel worried.
Early this morning, when he woke up and remembered that something was left in the medical room, he came to check.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he entered, he saw the medical compartment flashing a red alert.
A red alert meant that the person inside was in life-threatening danger.
Without further ado, he directly opened the medical compartment. When he opened it, he saw Ji Fu lying inside, and there was a test tube nearby.
He was very familiar with what was inside that test tube.
It was the strange concoction that Ji Fu had been experimenting with repeatedly during this time, always failing.
He didn’t expect Ji Fu to have succeeded, let alone that this guy had such an experimental spirit to actually use his own body as a test subject.
But… seriously speaking, Ji Fu was just a bit eccentric, experimenting on herself, it didn’t seem like it was illegal, right?
Fang Yanli’s expression was calm. “I just have some questions for her.”
Just then, Du Ming opened the door to the medical room.
Fang Yanli raised her eyes, and what she saw was the still-operating medical compartment.
“Ji Fu’s health isn’t good.” Du Ming explained softly, intending to approach and open the medical compartment.
Unexpectedly, Fang Yanli stopped him.
“If her health isn’t good, then let’s wait before waking her up.” Fang Yanli looked up and gestured for him to look at the control screen.
“Please help, Teacher Du, to check Ji Fu’s treatment records.”
The medical compartment wasn’t like ordinary machinery. In order to better record the patient’s condition, it would automatically record every treatment session, including the time, the condition of the treatment, and…
When the medical compartment was entered and when it was exited.
These records were all automatically covered and couldn’t be changed or adjusted manually.
The purpose was to prevent others from using the medical compartment for nefarious purposes.
Right now, it had become strong evidence of whether Ji Fu had left the Interstellar Academy last night.
Du Ming was momentarily stunned, but without much thought, he retrieved all the records from the medical compartment.
The moment the treatment records were opened, the entire screen turned crimson.
Everyone present, including Wan Feng and others standing at the back of the crowd, fell silent.
The red treatment records represented the patient having teetered on the brink of life and death.
Ji Fu’s physical condition was worse than anyone had expected.
And such a long stretch of red…
Up until 6:30 this morning, Ji Fu had been in danger, only stabilizing after that time.
Fang Yanli scrolled through the treatment records, moving upwards until she found a crucial entry.
At 1:45 PM on February 17th, patient Ji Fu entered the medical compartment, with no record of leaving. There were entries every half hour.
In other words, Ji Fu had been lying in the medical compartment since yesterday afternoon, without going anywhere.
Sss—
Fang Yanli turned around, watching as the medical compartment was opened from the inside, and a record instantly appeared on the screen in front of her.
At 10:23 AM on February 18th, the medical compartment door opened.
He turned his head and met Ji Fu’s calm gaze. “Long time no see, Executive Director.”
