Chapter 15
Fang Yanli met her gaze, his eyes carrying a scrutinizing look.
The surroundings fell silent, the atmosphere oppressive.
The people from the school looked at each other, unsure of Fang Yanli’s intentions.
After a long pause, he finally nodded to Ji Fu. “Miss Ji.”
Though his tone was indifferent, it was still polite.
Someone let out a sigh of relief.
But unexpectedly, Fang Yanli changed the subject and turned to Du Ming. “Teacher Du, are you the administrator 01 mentioned in these treatment records?”
Du Ming nodded, seeing Fang Yanli’s gaze on him and sensing his doubt, he explained directly, “I had an early morning class today, and I left some teaching materials in the medical room, so I came to retrieve them.”
The treatment records clearly stated that someone had opened the medical compartment in the morning and performed emergency treatment on the person inside.
Every entry was laid out plainly, except for the absence of any record of Ji Fu leaving the compartment.
The star system where the school was located was quite far from the Great River Star, and Du Ming had checked the passenger records of the starships for the past three days, but Ji Fu’s name did not appear.
From this perspective, she indeed had a perfect alibi.
Moreover, she maintained unwavering eye contact with him since his arrival, showing no signs of hesitation.
It seemed… it was just a misunderstanding after all.
Ji Fu had just woken up and still looked a bit drowsy.
Even in the presence of such an important figure, she remained calm, sitting quietly in the medical compartment.
The medical compartment used a closed system, disconnected from the Alliance network, with a high level of security. It was difficult to hack into, and she didn’t have the time for that anyway.
However, difficulty in hacking the system didn’t mean there were no loopholes.
From yesterday afternoon until early this morning, the person in the medical compartment was Jiang Wei.
Since she couldn’t infiltrate the system internally, she simply altered Jiang Wei’s neural interface, allowing her to log into the medical compartment using her identity.
Jiang Wei came from a poor background, belonged to the F-level, and their physical appearances were somewhat similar.
Most importantly, before entering the Interstellar Academy, Jiang Wei had also been in a state of prolonged malnutrition.
So as long as no deep-level treatment was performed, the medical compartment’s system couldn’t distinguish between her and Jiang Wei.
The altered neural information couldn’t be detected by this purely secure medical compartment system.
Using the same method, she randomly selected a student information from the Interstellar Academy’s student database and used that information to enter and exit the school.
If Fang Yanli wanted to investigate Ji Fu, he would probably only find a blank.
However, Ji Fu didn’t think that these things alone could dispel Fang Yanli’s doubts.
Sure enough, after he arrived, Cheng Hao, who accompanied him, had let down his guard and exchanged pleasantries with the school staff.
But after a long silence, Fang Yanli suddenly spoke up, “I remember that your school previously applied to the Alliance for a special-grade teacher, right?”
The principal nodded, “Yes, among the three major academies, our school’s faculty is relatively weak. This year’s freshmen are quite special, with the addition of a special A-class, so we applied to the Alliance for a special-grade teacher.”
However, the Alliance had not given a definite response yet, and currently, there were no particular candidates among the Alliance’s senior officials, causing a delay in this matter.
As a result, even after so long since the start of the special A-class, there was still no fixed teacher.
“Do you have any recommended candidates, Executive Director?” The principal was quite satisfied with Cheng Hao under Fang Yanli’s command.
As soon as this question was asked, everyone in the medical room was stunned.
No one expected Fang Yanli to suggest himself.
It seemed for a moment that even the principal doubted whether he had heard correctly.
Aside from him, everyone in the medical room was surprised.
Outside the medical room, the students who came to watch the excitement were in an uproar.
“The Executive Director of the Alliance is coming to our school?”
“Is this for real? Pinch me, I must be dreaming. Come on, do it!”
At that moment, everyone was both surprised and delighted.
For one reason only—because it was Fang Yanli!
Among the young officers of the present age, he had the highest talent and the strongest combat power, having once achieved the glorious record of single-handedly annihilating an S-level beast tide, making him the number one officer in the Alliance.
Due to the involvement of high-level secrets of the Alliance military, Fang Yanli’s neural interface had been specially treated, which prevented his name from appearing on the top list.
But the mech “Silence” he controlled, not involved in secrecy, unreservedly and dominantly stood above all top-level mechs.
Zhou Luo Hai’s eyes flickered as he opened his neural interface.
At the top of the mech list, there were two words written—Silence.
Starting from “Silence,” every mech listed on the mech rankings was of legendary status.
His gaze followed along until it reached the tenth position on the celestial list, then hesitated slightly.
Tenth place, “Black Mech.”
It was said that those of low status could never become mech pilots in their lifetime. Therefore, after being rejected by the Yun Chi Academy back then, he created his own path, forging a name on the celestial list with a unique mech.
And this person, whom everyone thought could never become a mech pilot, created the Black Mech.
At first glance, the tenth position might not seem high, but upon closer inspection, one would find that those ranked below the Black Mech were all famous top-grade mechs of the time.
Moreover, the Black Mech was unmanned.
What was most frightening was that at the time, Yun Chi didn’t just have one Black Mech.
In other words, given enough time, she could completely mass-produce Black Mechs.
“They say that the mech pilots of this generation are exceptionally talented, and in the future, there will definitely be works surpassing ‘Silence’.” Wan Feng stood by his side, his voice calm. “What do you think?”
For mech soldiers, mechs were equivalent to their second lives.
But unfortunately, until now, Zhou Luo Hai had never encountered a mech pilot that he found extraordinarily talented.
Therefore, upon hearing Wan Feng’s words, he seemed to chuckle lightly.
“Of course,” he replied straightforwardly, meeting Wan Feng’s gaze. “If Yun Chi could be revived—”
Wan Feng’s expression changed slightly.
The entire Alliance viewed that 3S-level criminal as a ferocious beast. This young master Zhou from the Zhou family spoke without any concealment.
The subtle atmosphere between them didn’t last long before it was directly interrupted.
The reason was that Fang Yanli inside said, “But if I’m going to teach, I have one request for the school to fulfill.”
The principal, upon hearing this, almost waved his hand and agreed to anything.
Fortunately, he still had some reason left, so he asked, “What request?”
“From the moment I start teaching, Ji Fu will also be transferred to the special A-class.” Fang Yanli raised his gaze and looked at Ji Fu, who was idly drinking milk nearby.
Ji Fu: ?
Inside the medical room, there was a moment of silence, followed by madness from everyone!
What!?
The only condition for the Executive Director of the Alliance to come and teach at their Interstellar Academy was to bring an F-class student into the special A-class?
This was explosive news.
Some imaginative students outside had already begun fantasizing about scenes where the domineering Executive Director fell in love with an F-class student. Some even appeared normal on the surface but were already going crazy in forums behind the scenes.
[“F-class Ji Fu, who is this person, even Fang Yanli…”]
[“Come on, stop making up stories. Maybe the Executive Director just values talent, after all, she’s an F-class who can score high.”]
[“‘Values talent,’ do you know how many times the Imperial Military Academy has invited him?”]
[“This world is really too fantastical.”]
In contrast to their excitement, Ji Fu appeared particularly calm.
She finished her milk in one gulp, turned her head to Fang Yanli, and smiled. “Sure.”
Amidst the stunned, absurd, and ridiculous gazes all around, Ji Fu calmly locked eyes with Fang Yanli.
Three years had passed, and he was still the same.
Even if he couldn’t find any direct evidence that she was Yun Chi, he would still put her under close surveillance.
Ji Fu didn’t mind this at all, except for one thing… the game was starting again, so it should be played according to her rules.
She sat in front of the inspector who had chased her many times before, one hand resting on the edge of the medical compartment, the other holding the sweet milk can, her knuckles like jade, tapping lightly on the edge of the compartment.
From Fang Yanli’s appearance until now, besides grabbing a can of sweet milk to drink, she had sat quietly the entire time, both hands placed in front of him, without touching her neural interface or averting her gaze from him.
From beginning to end, she behaved like a harmless and innocent student.
Fang Yanli hesitated for a moment, about to discuss the matter of teaching at the Interstellar Academy with the principal, when he raised his head and saw his subordinates left on the starship walking in with a grim expression.
“Executive Director.”
Fang Yanli directly asked, “What happened?”
There were many people here, all students, and there was no need for any concealment.
Mainly, this matter couldn’t be hidden at all. At most, in a few hours, it would spread throughout the entire galaxy.
“A privately-owned planet not far from the Great River Star was bombed.”
Everyone here, including the school’s administration, had a change in expression.
But Fang Yanli seemed to sense something as he looked towards Ji Fu.
She still had the nutrient tube from the medical compartment wrapped around her wrist, her face pale. Even after he looked over, she still smiled at him.
Fang Yanli had a rough guess: “Who does the planet belong to?”
“A former senior official from the previous star-level prison, An Zaiyang.”
Upon hearing the news of An Zaiyang’s death, both the Alliance and their side would first investigate the culprit.
But no one expected that An Zaiyang would actually have a private planet, and it was bombed on the second day of the incident.
Cheng Hao’s face turned ugly. “What are the losses, and were there any casualties?”
“No one lived on that small planet, but…” The person didn’t continue.
Ji Fu smiled ambiguously. Why didn’t he continue?
Of course, because it was inconvenient to say.
Because inside An Zaiyang’s small planet were all the materials he had embezzled and hidden from the Alliance over the past few years.
In addition to this, there was also a small starship, and…
A lengthy list of bribery.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
Almost everyone’s neural interfaces buzzed simultaneously.
Some opened them without understanding.
Swipe.
“To our dear Executive Director, greeting in words as in person. Below are the one hundred and seventy-eight lists of embezzlement and bribery that the Executive Director entrusted me to investigate, delivered to you on time. Welcome to place your next order.”
