Chapter 146: The Transformed Female Lead, Gu Xiangsi

Cultivators were not immortals, and frankly, aside from being a little strong, they were no different from humans.

Even if dyed with some immortal dust, worms were worms; they could never be dragons and fly. Ye Wenxin was bored to death watching the fight, and then saw Azure Wings Sect members going over to intervene.

The next second, a figure already stood before the two parties. In her hands were two huge axes, which looked out of place on her buxom and graceful figure.

But her swings were well-practiced; she simultaneously deflected the two’s attack and dissatisfiedly shouted, “Ignorant fools, you dare to be brazen in the Azure Wings Sect!”

“It’s Gu Xiangsi from the Hall of Teaching!”

“Junior Sister Gu is here!”

Some people immediately recognized the girl’s identity. The person with a baby face and generous bust was none other than Gu Xiangsi, whom Ye Wenxin had not seen in a very long time.

The current Gu Xiangsi was already a closed-door disciple¹ of the Hall of Teaching’s elder, and the double axes she wielded were both divine weapons. Even her cultivation had gone from the Qi Refining stage to fifth-stage Foundation Establishment.

Killing intent flowed amidst the swings of her axes, and it was evident that, through self-discipline, both her state of mind and cultivation had progressed rapidly. Gu Aotian, the chosen one, came unbidden to Ye Wenxin’s mind. She was unsure if he was still thieving with Hei Tong somewhere.

In the moment of Ye Wenxin’s contemplation, she seemed to see a figure resembling Gu Aotian swiftly opening someone’s bag of holding from afar, then disappearing quickly.

Immediately after, he appeared in front of another person.

Ye Wenxin did not know whether to feel relief or melancholy at the sight. She saw Gu Xiangsi had dealt with the two disciples, leaving them writhing in pain on the ground, crying out.

With such a strong aura, she wondered if Gu Xiangsi had overcome her fear of men.

Ye Wenxin was distracted again, when she felt Gu Xiangsi’s gaze land on her. Ye Wenxin instinctively took an abortive action, worried that Gu Xiangsi would get too excited upon seeing her and directly pounce on her.

Fortunately, Gu Xiangsi merely stared at her for a few beats before she surveyed the surroundings, as if searching for other people’s whereabouts.

Maybe she was looking for Gu Aotian, or maybe, while Ye Wenxin had been away, Gu Xiangsi had already found countless ‘Sis’.

Ye Wenxin felt sad, but she had too many concerns and was not about to add another one, so she did not actively step forward.

On the contrary, another familiar person approached.

“Miss Wenxin, it’s truly been a long time.” Ye Wenxin glanced at the woman before her, who was pretty and pleasant, with a particularly familiar aura about her.

“You are?” asked Ye Wenxin. She just could not remember who this familiar person might be.

“The esteemed often forget; I’m Su Mei, Miss Wenxin.” The woman called Su Mei offered her name, and Ye Wenxin suddenly recalled the woman who had an Iceborn Constitution like her.

Because she was too low-profile, Ye Wenxin did not pay Su Mei much mind, which resulted in this awkward scene.

“Oh, I remember now, my comrade.” Ye Wenxin smiled, hinting that she still remembered the one thing they had in common.

Honestly, Ye Wenxin disliked Su Mei. Maybe because Su Mei being another Iceborn caused a repulsive reaction, or maybe because Su Mei gave her a sense of inscrutability.

This made Su Mei dangerous. Ye Wenxin preferred people who were a bit simpler, as they made conversations easier.

“Su Mei, I finally found you!” Gu Aotian appeared again, his forehead shining with sweat and a wide grin splitting his face. His attitude towards Su Mei was warm and could even be considered intimate.

Gu Aotian was full of love for Su Mei, while Su Mei seemed to merely regard him as a tool, her eyes smiling, yet there was no love to speak of.

“You must be tired.” Su Mei took out a handkerchief, naturally wiping Gu Aotian’s sweat.

Gu Aotian smiled brilliantly, with more obvious love in his eyes. He subconsciously held Su Mei’s hand excitedly and said, “Nothing is ever tiring if it’s for you.”

There was a subtle change on Su Mei’s face, but she did not resist Gu Aotian’s touch, and it seemed that the two were in an ambiguous stage. Although this was probably just Gu Aotian’s one-sided exuberance.

Ye Wenxin wondered if it truly was, as Zhao Teddy had said, that she could absorb the lead characters’ luck, but she could tell that there was something really off about Gu Aotian’s current situation.

During this time frame, Gu Aotian’s cultivation had not advanced by leaps. He had not achieved any amazing feats either. Instead, he was indulging in the pleasure of petty thievery and even dead set on a woman.

They seemed to be getting along harmoniously. However, it felt more like Gu Aotian was a puppet on a string being controlled by Su Mei, without knowing when he would be destroyed.

The two did not mind Ye Wenxin’s presence at all. Gu Aotian lovingly pulled out his spoils. “I got this earlier. Su Mei, you’ll definitely meet the conditions for the Sect Master’s true disciple.”

“I’ve truly troubled you, Aotian.”

Su Mei made insincere excuses before accepting.

Such scheming made Ye Wenxin immediately realize that Su Mei might be a villain like her.

Ye Wenxin was slightly flabbergasted, but seeing that Gu Aotian had completely turned into a puppet, she could only stifle her well-intentioned warning. She planned on finding the time to talk with Gu Xiangsi about her brother’s change, and see if he could still be saved.

The longer Ye Wenxin watched the two still lost in their own world, the more she felt as if there were countless green meadows growing atop Gu Aotian’s head.

When Gu Aotian wanted to touch Su Mei again, she pretended to be embarrassed and said, “Miss Wenxin is still here.”

Gu Aotian smiled guilelessly; the edges of the driven youth back then smoothed out. It seemed there was no way he could ever become Long Aotian (lit. dragon proud sky, or proud dragon of the sky).

“Don’t mind me; I’m going now. You guys continue.” She did not understand why Su Mei would go to such great pains for this act. Ye Wenxin was about to leave, but Su Mei stopped her.

“I heard you’ve established the Cozy Gang. I was wondering if we could-”

“It’s full. We don’t need anyone else.” Ye Wenxin frowned and immediately refused Su Mei’s request, which was harmful for her little brothers. Ye Wenxin’s concept of Su Mei was already vague before she discovered that Su Mei could potentially become a venomous snake. Therefore, she must be nipped in the bud like Zhao Teddy.

Killing intent arose, but quickly disappeared with her smile. Watching Su Mei’s phony acting skills, Ye Wenxin rejected all the requests, like she was practicing Tai Chi.

Su Mei seemed very dejected, but as she could not shed all her pretense, she gave up for the time being and left quickly with Gu Aotian; judging from her expression, Ye Wenxin believed Su Mei would come to find her again in these few days.

Ye Wenxin was somewhat irritated, realizing that she was the one who encouraged Su Mei to cozy up to Gu Aotian; look what happened: the son of destiny had been ruined and could probably only become a maggot in the future.

She continued striding forward and saw Gu Xiangsi not so far away. They met face-to-face, locking eyes with each other, and there seemed to be no escape from this.

However, Gu Xiangsi was not as enthusiastic as before. She simply gave Ye Wenxin a subtle nod, as if nodding was the extent of their acquaintance. Ye Wenxin was bewildered, but she also nodded and brushed past Gu Xiangsi, and in that moment, she heard Gu Xiangsi’s words.

“Wait for me at the corner ahead.”

Without stopping, Ye Wenxin went to the corner Gu Xiangsi mentioned and waited for Gu Xiangsi to answer all her doubts.

A while later, Gu Xiangsi showed up and engulfed Ye Wenxin in a passionate bear hug.

“Sis, I missed you so much!”

While saying this, she hugged Ye Wenxin firmly, with a kind of longing and grievance that made Ye Wenxin wonder if a millennium had passed since they last met.

“It hasn’t been that long since our last meeting. Is it necessary to be so dramatic?” Ye Wenxin pushed Gu Xiangsi’s head away and finally had room to breathe.

“You don’t know this, but that woman, Su Mei…” Gu Xiangsi began recounting all the major things that had happened among the inner disciples recently.

Gu Aotian was given the cold shoulder despite being Fairy Fengya’s true disciple. Then, ever since he tasted the sweetness of thievery, he started engaging in various deceitful activities, which netted him a lot of profit.

After hearing this, Su Mei cooperated with Gu Aotian. Su Mei played the young Gu Aotian like a puppet, and he eventually fell so madly in love with her that he would do anything for her, leading him to enter the Hall of Teaching countless times.

Gu Xiangsi, the true disciple of the Hall of Teaching’s elder, was naturally frustrated with Gu Aotian’s failure to meet her expectations. Later on, the two severed their sibling ties, never having dealings with each other until death.

Ye Wenxin felt more and more that something was amiss with the plot. Was this still the male lead she thought she knew? The current plot made it seem like Gu Aotian was heading down the path of a cannon fodder.

While the recent her seemed to have everything going her way, with top-notch girls throwing themselves at her, making Ye Wenxin seriously wonder if she had stolen Gu Aotian’s luck, forcing him to become the current lowly person.

“This woman, Su Mei, is so shameless. I’ve been looking for evidence against her lately, and if it wasn’t for the disturbance, I wouldn’t have come out.” By contrast, Gu Xiangsi had matured a lot, beginning to transform from a little girl to a sensible woman.

If only she did not hug so tightly, Ye Wenxin would have liked talking with Gu Xiangsi even more.

Ye Wenxin bobbed her head, recalled the greasy love scene just now, and finally understood it was not for her but for Gu Xiangsi.

Su Mei had no small ambition, and her purpose in forming a gang was very likely to be to gain more resources.
