Chapter 2: Falsely Accused of Infertility
Huang Yuelan casually felt around in her pocket and found a bottle of wound medicine. She handed it to Wang Jianguo, saying, “Your arm is injured. Here’s some wound medicine. Put it on yourself.”
A wave of warmth washed over Wang Jianguo, deeply moving him.
He appeared cold and heartless on the outside, especially after his parents passed away. No one cared for him; everyone bullied him. His heart had become as hard as steel. But whenever he was with Huang Yuelan, he became gentle.
Wang Jianguo would never forget an incident from his childhood. Many people were holding him down and beating him. When she saw this, not only was she unafraid, but she stepped forward and drove them all away. From that moment, a seed of admiration was planted in his heart.
Taking the wound medicine from Huang Yuelan, Wang Jianguo couldn’t suppress the feelings buried deep within his heart. An unusual emotion flowed through him from the bottom of his heart, as sweet as brown sugar.
“Thank you!” Wang Jianguo said in a deep, hoarse voice.
Huang Yuelan was anxious to go home to see her two younger brothers and didn’t notice Wang Jianguo’s emotional changes. She said to him, “I’ll repay you for saving my life another day. I have to go home to see my brothers.”
Wang Jianguo said, “It’s alright, Yuelan, don’t worry about it. If you ever need anything, just come find me. Don’t ever think of doing anything rash.”
“I won’t. Don’t worry, I won’t. I’ll go now.” Huang Yuelan left Wang Jianguo’s house.
Wang Jianguo watched Huang Yuelan’s back with deep affection. He loved her, but he felt he wasn’t worthy of her.
He was an orphan from a young age, making a living by chopping wood and hunting. He was ridiculed as a “wild man” since childhood and was often beaten to the ground. By the time he was twelve or thirteen, no one dared to hit him anymore because no one could beat him.
Growing up running in the mountains, he not only developed exceptional skills but also a great physique—six-pack abs, strong and resilient, an excellent figure, and immense strength.
Huang Yuelan hadn’t gone far from Wang Jianguo’s house when she was seen by villagers returning from work. Some gossiping women immediately started whispering among themselves.
“Isn’t that Huang Yuelan from our village? My goodness, what’s she doing coming out of Hunter Wang’s house?”
“Something’s going on! Look, her hair is all messed up. Their relationship must be more than just friendly.”
“Ugh—no wonder she was jilted! It’s outrageous! It’s one thing to be infertile, but she’s also restless, flirting with men everywhere. Who could stand that? She deserves to be jilted!”
“She’s disgraced her entire family! Who would dare marry such a restless woman?!”
Huang Yuelan ignored the villagers’ gossip. She understood one thing: arguing with people of a different social standing was pointless. Winning an argument with these gossiping women meant nothing. The best course of action was to ignore them, treating them as if they were air.
As she reached her front door, she saw her grandmother and uncle’s wife chasing her two younger brothers out.
“You two good-for-nothing brats! We feed you every day, and you’re still ungrateful! You dare steal the family’s cornbread? You’re shameless! You don’t work, yet you want to eat good food! This family can’t accommodate you anymore!” They pushed the two boys out as they spoke.
Although she wasn’t the original owner of this body, she felt a special affection for her two younger brothers because of this body. In her previous life, as an orphan, she longed for family and hated seeing people being bullied.
The original owner and her two younger brothers were constantly bullied by this family. Although they shared the same Huang family blood as the other cousins, their treatment was vastly different.
The uncle’s children could eat cornbread and occasionally eggs.
But she and her two brothers usually ate only sweet potatoes, mostly cold vegetable bread. Eating cornbread was only a dream.
They were utterly unreasonable. They weren’t being shameless. Her betrothal gift was several tens of yuan. Her father had sent money home every month, not to mention his compensation money. They hid it all, buying meat for themselves without letting her and her brothers see.
Huang Yuelan went over, helped her two younger brothers up from the ground, brushed the dirt off them, and picked up their torn clothes.
Seeing that their parents were dead and they couldn’t earn work points, they were looked down upon and driven out. It was outrageous, and justice had to be sought.
