Chapter 2: The Corpse Came Back to Life
The soldier who followed out of concern saw Xing Han’s dazed expression and thought he was too grief-stricken to speak.
Well, who could have imagined that when someone came to the military district to find him, they would suddenly die right in front of him? Anyone would have a hard time accepting that.
He asked with concern, “Commander, are you okay?”
Doctor Fu said, “Commander, you should go in and take a look at him.”
Xing Han snapped out of it and walked into the emergency room.
The person on the bed looked peaceful. If the doctor hadn’t announced that Ling Yiran was dead, one might have thought he was just asleep.
Xing Han couldn’t believe that a living person had just died in front of him. He bent down to check the breathless nose and felt the still pulse, then sat powerlessly on the nearby stool. He thought, the person came to the military district to find him and died right in front of him. Could it really be that his fate is too hard and he jinxed them to death?
A master had once told him that his fate was too hard, which was why he had jinxed his parents to death, and that he would jinx more friends and family in the future.
Of course, he didn’t believe it, but indeed, many people around him had died.
Xing Han took out his phone, hesitating on how to call the family.
Just then, the person on the bed suddenly opened his eyes, sat up abruptly, and shouted, “Xing Han.”
Xing Han was so startled that his hand shook, and the phone fell to the ground. He looked at the person on the bed in shock, “You, you’re not dead?”
It was the first time he had seen someone with no breath or pulse come back to life. For a moment, he thought it was a corpse coming back to life.
Ling Yiran turned his head to look at Xing Han, “Xing Han?”
“Yes.” Xing Han quickly walked to the door and shouted, “Doctor Fu, Doctor Fu, my partner is alive again.”
Doctor Fu and the soldier hurried in, seeing Ling Yiran sitting on the bed, they exclaimed, “A miracle, truly a miracle. Just now, there was clearly no breath or pulse, and yet he’s alive again.”
He called the nurse in to give Ling Yiran a physical examination.
Ling Yiran hurriedly refused, “No need for an examination, I often experience shock, no need for an examination.”
“Frequent shock?” Doctor Fu had never heard of shock stopping breath and pulse, “If that’s the case, you need a thorough examination, or next time you might not be as lucky to wake up.”
Ling Yiran got out of bed and said, “I have something very important to discuss with Xing Han. I’ll get checked after I finish talking.”
Xing Han said in a deep voice, “Let Doctor Fu examine you first to make sure you’re okay before talking.”
Doctor Fu nodded, “Yes, a few minutes won’t make a difference, and nothing is more important than your life.”
Just then, the phone that had fallen to the ground rang.
Seeing it was his superior calling, Xing Han quickly picked it up to answer. Whatever was said on the other end made his expression particularly serious. He hung up and said, “There’s a mission from above, I need to leave immediately. Doctor Fu, please take care of him for me.”
As he spoke, he wrote down a string of phone numbers and handed it to Ling Yiran, “I should be back tonight. If there’s anything urgent, ask Doctor Fu for help. If it’s really unsolvable, wait for me to return.”
Xing Han quickly turned and ran out of the emergency room.
“Hey, Xing Han, I just wanted to talk about our matters. I only need half a minute.” Ling Yiran chased after him, but the other person ran like the wind, disappearing from sight in the blink of an eye. Realizing the other really had urgent matters, he stopped.
Doctor Fu came out, “Sir, come back, I’ll give you a full body check.”
Hearing this, Ling Yiran thought, no way, if he really got checked, the shock story he told the doctor wouldn’t hold up. His eyes darted around, and he exclaimed, “Oh no, my stomach hurts, I need to go to the bathroom. Doctor Fu, wait for me, I’ll find you after I’m done.”
With that, he hurriedly ran down the hallway.
Doctor Fu: “…”
Ling Yiran, out of Doctor Fu’s sight, slipped out of the military medical building through the back door.
The scorching sun beat down on him, making him grimace in pain, “Damn, damn, it’s burning me to death, I’m going to be scorched to the point of soul dispersal.”
His umbrella and hat were gone, so he could only bear the blazing sun, shouting in pain as he dashed towards the gate as fast as he could.
The soldier on duty saw Ling Yiran coming out and asked with concern, “You’re awake.”
“Yes, yes, I’m leaving now, I’ll come back next time.”
The soldier in the duty room, intending to tease Ling Yiran, stood straight and saluted him, loudly saying, “Commander’s wife, take care.”
Hearing this title, Ling Yiran almost twisted his ankle on flat ground.
To hell with the commander’s wife.
He cursed as he ran to a deserted place, looked around to make sure no one was there, and with a swoosh, his body sank into the ground, disappearing from the surface.
