“Military Marriage Threw Its Back Out: Commander, Your Wife Ran Away Again!” Chapter 15

Chapter 15: How Could That Wretched Girl Show Such a Terrifying Look in Her Eyes?

What?!
The moment she heard someone had reported the matter of using a fake identity to get into university, Bai Cuiyan panicked. It had been three years without a word about it — why was it suddenly exposed today?

Only realizing the seriousness after a moment, Bai Cuiyan immediately pointed at Gu Siqing and shouted, “Her! She’s Gu Wanrou! If you’re going to investigate, go after her!”

Shen Qingyan, who had been silently observing from the side, frowned slightly as he watched Bai Cuiyan so decisively frame Gu Siqing. He tapped lightly on the armrest of his wheelchair with a finger.

“Then you’ll need to cooperate with our investigation,” said the police officer, looking at Gu Siqing and then scanning the room. “Also, the one named Gu Siqing will need to come with us for questioning.”

“What?!”

Bai Cuiyan and Gu Dakai thought that after pointing out Gu Siqing, they’d be in the clear. They hadn’t expected both women would need to go in. They were shocked and instantly started wondering—who reported them?

Bai Cuiyan narrowed her eyes and her face darkened. Something about Gu Siqing today felt off. Could it have been her who filed the report?

Realizing it was a possibility, Bai Cuiyan was furious. If the police weren’t here, she would’ve lunged at Gu Siqing and clawed her face. That little slut! Did she really think she could do whatever she wanted just because she married into the Shen family? She even dared to report them?

She thought reporting them would let her go to university? A tainted woman like her, going to university?! And even if she did, what would that accomplish? Who doesn’t care about reputation when hiring?

Knowing she’s “damaged goods,” what decent job would take her? What good man would marry her?

Even if she went to college, she’d have no future. So why couldn’t she just obediently give up that spot and let her daughter graduate instead? That would be the right thing to do!

And she actually went and reported them? She’s heartless! Absolutely vile!

“Where is Gu Siqing?” the officer asked impatiently. “Our records say she and Gu Wanrou are cousins and live at this address. So where is she?”

Gu Siqing stood with her arms crossed, silently watching Gu Dakai and Bai Cuiyan. When the officer mentioned Gu Wanrou, they didn’t hesitate for a second to throw her under the bus — and now?

The real Gu Wanrou sitting in the room felt numb all over. What the hell was going on?

Her fists clenched so tightly her nails dug into her flesh, cursing Gu Siqing in her mind over and over. Only their family and Gu Siqing knew the truth. It had to be her who reported it. Damn it!

As the officer was about to lose patience, Shen Qingyan finally spoke, smiling slightly and looking up.

“Officer, I believe there’s been a misunderstanding. The woman standing before me is my wife, Gu Siqing.”

“As for Gu Wanrou,” his gaze swept over Gu Dakai and Bai Cuiyan before landing on a room inside, “she’s likely still in the room.”

“What do you mean?” the officer frowned.

Shen Qingyan explained, “My wife’s name is Gu Siqing. Three years ago, she passed the college entrance exam and was admitted to university. These two—Gu Wanrou’s parents—took her admission letter and let their daughter, Gu Wanrou, attend university under my wife’s name.”

“My wife is the victim. I was the one who reported this to the police.”

The officer looked slightly dazed from all the twists, but Shen Qingyan’s composed explanation convinced him.

Gu Dakai’s brows furrowed so tightly they could form a worm. He shot a venomous glare at Gu Siqing. So Shen Qingyan knew the whole thing? It had to be Gu Siqing who told him!

She told him, and now the police were involved? Damn it! She really thought she could take everything back just because she married into the Shen family?

“It’s all a misunderstanding! Just a misunderstanding!” Gu Dakai quickly stepped forward, plastering on a fake smile and glaring at Gu Siqing as he yanked her toward him. “Officer, this is all just a big misunderstanding!”

He glanced at Bai Cuiyan and gave her a meaningful look. She caught on and joined in quickly to smooth things over.

“Yes, yes, exactly! This is just a misunderstanding. Officer, please don’t listen to their nonsense.”

She tugged on Gu Siqing’s arm again. “Wanrou, how could you do this?”

“We know you’ve always been jealous of your cousin for getting into college while you didn’t, but you can’t go around making up lies to your husband!”

“You just got married, and now you’re slandering your cousin? That’s truly wrong of you. Hurry and explain everything to the officer!”

Gu Dakai and Bai Cuiyan were putting on a performance, lecturing Gu Siqing like it was second nature. Shen Qingyan watched the scene with growing coldness in his eyes. From the way they acted, he could tell his wife must’ve suffered a lot living with them.

No wonder she moved all the household belongings into her space.

“Wanrou…” Seeing that Gu Siqing wasn’t speaking, the two doubled down.

“You filed a false report. That’s wasting public resources, you know!”

“Come on now—” Bai Cuiyan even grabbed Gu Siqing’s hand and tried to drag her toward the officer. “Go on, explain everything. What you’re doing isn’t right. If you admit your mistake now, you can learn from it and not repeat it again.”

As she spoke, she even tried to dig her nails into the flesh of Gu Siqing’s hand.

This damned girl—did she forget how she even managed to survive all these years? How those two brats of hers survived?
And now she dares to tell Shen Qingyan everything?!

Once this matter was over, she would find a chance to give that damn girl a good beating! Teach her a lesson for being so ungrateful!

Gu Siqing only realized it was probably Shen Qingyan who had called the police when she saw the officers arrive. So even when she was dragged over, she didn’t show much reaction on her face.

Bai Cuiyan was still talking to the officers, saying, “Comrades, you don’t understand. Our Wanrou has always been extremely jealous of her cousin. I’m sure she just couldn’t swallow her pride and wanted to slander her out of spite.”

She even tried to act like she knew what she was talking about, adding, “As long as she throws dirt on her name—even if it doesn’t work out—her reputation will still be ruined, right? That’s exactly what she wants!”

“Don’t believe a word she says!”

Bai Cuiyan, flustered, rambled on, saying several things in a row, while the officers watched the farce with calm expressions. Just as they were about to ask who was who, Shen Qingyan spoke up from the side.

“I’m the one who called the police. Stop pretending to care about wasting public resources. Whether or not it’s slander, can’t they just investigate to find out?”

Seeing Shen Qingyan speak so frankly, Gu Siqing felt a warmth in her heart. This man had always been looking out for her.

It seemed like it was just the day before yesterday that he confessed? They’d only met each other’s parents yesterday, had Qi Yuan help pull the school files, and now today he’d already called the police.

No wonder he insisted on coming back with her.

Originally, Gu Siqing had planned to come back alone and settle things quickly. But now that she understood his intentions, she felt at ease just waiting. He never did anything without confidence.

With that realization, Gu Siqing stopped complaining and simply looked at the police officer and said, “We’ve lived in this compound for years. Anyone can tell who’s who. Just call the neighbors over and ask them.”

“You damn girl!”

Bai Cuiyan was standing right next to her. Upon hearing that, she yanked Gu Siqing hard again and was about to pinch her once more. But Gu Siqing turned a cold gaze toward her—so cold it could pierce through bone.

Bai Cuiyan froze in place.

How could that damn girl show such a terrifying look in her eyes?

She usually didn’t even dare to raise her voice with them, yet today she had backbone?

It must be because she got married!
