Chapter 39: Her Husband Looks Really Sexy
Not long after, class began. Gu Siqing had fully caught up with the lessons, so the teacher no longer specifically called on her to answer questions. However, whenever there were some particularly technical questions, the teacher would still ask her.
At first, when a few detailed questions came up, some senior students in the corner would snicker, thinking Gu Siqing wouldn’t be able to answer. They were already preparing to raise their hands to answer instead. But Gu Siqing simply smiled and not only gave the detailed answers but also explained the key points to be mindful of during the procedure. With a straight back and a calm expression, she spoke with confidence, as if radiating light with every gesture and movement.
Those few students who were ready to mock her were completely dumbfounded.
“Gu Siqing’s answer was excellent,” the professional course instructor praised, his eyes full of appreciation for her. “Next class, we’ll have a medical lab session.”
As soon as the class ended, the teacher announced the next session, and the students all made their way toward the medical lab classroom.
This would be Gu Siqing’s first medical lab. On the way to the lab with Liu Xiaomei, Gu Siqing carefully asked about the rules and requirements of the lab, afraid of making any mistakes. After all, times were different now, and she needed to be cautious.
Liu Xiaomei was very forthcoming and answered all her questions in detail. Once Gu Siqing understood the rules, she had no issues during the lab session — in fact, her technique was more refined than anyone else’s.
Most of their lab work involved practicing on medical mannequins. Medical students received generous support from the government, especially in surgery. Many students would simulate operations using reusable models during training. After graduation, they would observe real surgeries under lead surgeons at hospitals, and only after years of experience would they have a chance to operate on their own.
However, Gu Siqing had already lived a previous life in another world where her mission was to heal and save lives. She had been born into a prestigious family of doctors — both her parents and brother were medical professionals. She had studied medicine since childhood, and in that futuristic world, medical technology was far more advanced. She had performed countless surgeries.
The professional course teacher carefully observed her and then gave a thumbs-up.
“You have the most precise technique in the entire class. Even I can’t match your level.”
That single comment left the entire class in an uproar.
But Gu Siqing remained humble. “There’s still a lot I need to learn from you, teacher. I’ve just spent a bit more time honing this particular skill.”
No teacher disliked a hardworking and humble student. After that medical lab session, the teacher liked her even more.
The scattered murmurs in the senior class also completely vanished. Gu Siqing had won everyone over. She was beautiful and intelligent — someone they couldn’t hope to compete with.
From then on, the pressure of her classes significantly lessened. One day, the professional teacher invited his own mentor — an elderly professor well-known in the medical field — to teach a lab class.
During the session, the old professor deliberately called on Gu Siqing by name, curious to see what kind of talent his student had been raving about.
Gu Siqing completed the lab work perfectly — independently performing a minor surgical procedure and suturing — all in one seamless sequence, without the slightest hesitation.
The surrounding classmates were shocked.
They had done this lab many times before, always needing two or three people to complete it. Yet Gu Siqing did it alone, flawlessly? And she didn’t even need to pause to think?
If they used to just admire her when the teacher praised her, this time they were truly astonished.
Every single step Gu Siqing took was precise and methodical. The old professor applauded her enthusiastically.
“Now I finally understand why your teacher keeps mentioning you. You are truly outstanding!”
“Given time, you will surely become a remarkable doctor!”
Coming from a respected professor, those words carried weight. Within just a couple of hours, news of the old professor’s praise for Gu Siqing had spread across the entire medical department.
From first-years to seniors, everyone who heard was astonished and deeply impressed.
Back in the dorm, Zhang Yanran had just returned when she overheard her roommates talking about Gu Siqing.
As soon as she caught part of the conversation, one roommate cast a disdainful glance at her.
“You used to lead us in isolating Gu Siqing, but turns out she didn’t need any of that nonsense. She’s already made a name for herself among the senior class!”
Zhang Yanran opened her mouth, but no words came out.
She had judged Gu Siqing for her looks, assuming she couldn’t also be talented. She didn’t want her spotlight stolen, so she’d spread malicious gossip. Who would’ve thought Gu Siqing really had substance?
She had only just joined the senior class and had already been praised by both the course teacher and the old professor. Even the senior girls admired her dedication and speed in the lab.
After hearing her roommates’ remarks, Zhang Yanran stormed out of the dorm in frustration. She felt wronged — yes, she had made a mistake, but hadn’t they also gossiped about Gu Siqing with her?
Now they were acting like she was the only one at fault?
It was all Gu Siqing’s fault! What an infuriating woman!
But Gu Siqing knew nothing about all this drama.
Even though she had to complete two semesters’ worth of coursework in one, she wasn’t stressed at all. Sometimes she would even have insightful discussions with classmates, earning her a good reputation.
Very soon, winter arrived.
In the capital, the first snow usually fell as soon as winter came. Though it was only November, the temperature had dropped drastically.
After class, Gu Siqing hurried home and entered her spatial dimension.
Shen Qingyan was jogging inside the space. The temperature in the dimension remained constant, making it ideal for him to train.
Gu Siqing watched him for a while, smiling at his side.
“Next month you can start doing explosive training. If all goes well, you’ll be able to take the army’s assessment next January.”
Training had to be gradual. Right now, it was jogging. Next month would be more intense training. After about half a month of stability and observation, he’d be ready to return.
“Thank you, wife,” Shen Qingyan said, standing in front of her.
Gu Siqing looked up at him. In their past life, this man had always been in a wheelchair, so she never had the chance to really see him like this. But this life, he had recovered and started working out again — now he looked even more handsome and confident.
He had always been good-looking. With years of military training, his skin wasn’t pale, but rather a healthy wheat tone. Right after exercising, his muscles were tight and well-defined, making him look incredibly sexy.
Gu Siqing couldn’t help but swallow.
In their past life, she had never seen this version of Shen Qingyan. Back then, she didn’t have any medical knowledge and couldn’t save him. He stayed in a wheelchair and avoided going out, not wanting people to stare at his legs.
After several years of being indoors, his skin had turned pale. He still looked good, but this version of him — healthy, strong, vibrant — was way more attractive.
Emmmm… her husband looked really sexy!
