Second Marriage: The Abstinent Commander’s Broken Vow Leads to a Sprained Waist Chapter 9

Chapter 9 : Jin Chao Smiled, it Was Terrifying

“It’s not scary.”

Second Brother shook his head, changed the subject, and continued, “It’s just that his fighting stance is quite fierce. Most people wouldn’t be able to beat him. Originally, Mom and Dad were worried that after you got married, you’d be lazy and might be disliked by your in-laws.”

“If Mom and Dad saw how capable you are, they wouldn’t worry so much.”

Yan Shu’s words warmed Yan Xiaoyue’s heart. She hadn’t considered that her parents would have such worries after her marriage.

She looked at her empty hands after her trip to the city, feeling uncomfortable.

Without money, she couldn’t even secure her position in the family.

“Second Brother, tell Mom and Dad that I’ll be back. Reassure them. Once I finalize the plan, our family will get started.”

Yan Xiaoyue knew that to gain confidence, she needed money, skills, and knowledge to broaden her horizons and build self-assurance.

As the ancients said, “A cultured mind naturally radiates elegance!” (From Su Shi’s “He Dong Chuan Liu Bie”)

Isn’t that the truth? The ancients knew this, so how could we not?

“Second Brother, you need to learn, and Sister-in-law and Big Brother need to learn too. Even Mom and Dad need to learn.” Yan Xiaoyue knew she could teach them from scratch, but it would be very tiring.

Everyone has different responsibilities. So, while nothing is certain, let them go out and experience things.

Learn better service concepts and management experience.

Start with a small restaurant, but don’t just limit it to that. They need to think big, so they must broaden their horizons.

Yan Xiaoyue suddenly thought of her sister-in-law, who had been a rural youth intellectual, longing to return to Haicheng but lacked the money and felt embarrassed to go back.

If she could bring her sister-in-law over, it would be a huge win, and she wouldn’t have to worry.

She also needed to visit her kind cousin, the female protagonist of the story. If everything went well, cooperating with her cousin would be twice the result with half the effort.

However, there were risks. To help her cousin, the rich second-generation Jin Qingyang, the cousin had designed a major disaster for her cousin when her career was stable. If it weren’t for Jin Qingyang’s help, everything the cousin had worked for would have been lost.

Yan Xiaoyue blinked. This matter could be big or small, so she had to be cautious with her cousin.

The rest of the journey was silent. The awkward atmosphere made Yan Xiaoyue chuckle.

She seemed like a man-eating tiger.

“We’ve arrived at Yangjia Village!” the driver shouted.

Yan Xiaoyue got up and got off the car, hearing the passengers let out a collective sigh of relief. The quiet car instantly became noisy again.

Apparently, after the three of them got off, the remaining passengers started fighting over seats.

Yan Xiaoyue curiously glanced back at the car. Everyone seemed frozen in place.

She shrugged and stepped away. The scramble for seats resumed.

The car drove away slowly. She turned to say something to her second brother, and the car was gone.

She looked suspiciously at the spot where the car had been. Did it teleport?

“What are you looking at?” Yan Shu followed her gaze. There was nothing but wheat fields.

“Nothing. Second Brother, did you say something just now?”

Yan Xiaoyue turned back to talk to her second brother when Jin Chao walked over, standing between them.

She turned and saw Jin Chao’s large face between them.

How frightening.

She held her breath and decided not to speak.

Jin Chao, seeing her nervousness, smiled. “Xiaoyue, I want to take you to buy some clothes.”

Because of the rushed wedding, Yan Xiaoyue didn’t have anything a new bride should have.

Now that they had reached an understanding, he, as her husband, should maintain appearances.

“Oh, so suddenly?”

Yan Xiaoyue was stunned. She didn’t understand why the always cold Jin Chao suddenly smiled.

She unexpectedly found his smile attractive.

This man was so straightforward, so handsome, and he smiled openly. Wasn’t he afraid of being kidnapped?

“Go quickly.” Yan Shu gave her a push and whispered in her ear, “Let’s ride our bikes home.”

Jin Chao nodded and went home first. Yan Xiaoyue muttered, “This guy’s legs are so long, he walks so fast, we can’t keep up.”

“Xiaoyue, Jin Chao’s leg doesn’t seem to be lame. I wonder if the rumors are false.”

Yan Shu looked at her with a hesitant expression that Yan Xiaoyue couldn’t ignore.

“Second Brother, what are you thinking? Jin Chao is perfectly normal.” After saying this, Yan Xiaoyue’s face turned red.

This morning she was suspecting Second Brother, now Second Brother was suspecting Jin Chao. She and her brother were truly siblings.

“Yan Shu, why are you walking so fast?”

When Yan Shu looked back, he found his brother was almost at the doorstep.

No way.

Was he going home to tell Mom and Dad?

Yan Xiaoyue felt a chill run down her spine, but she understood her parents’ thoughts. After all, they wanted their daughter to be happy after marriage.

When she reached the doorstep, she couldn’t see her second brother. Instead, Jin Chao was pushing their bicycle.

“Get on.”

Jin Chao resumed his aloof demeanor. She looked at him suspiciously. Her parents came out, smiling.

“You two go back first.”

Seeing her parents waving to her, she felt a pang of sadness.

She fought back tears.

“If you want to come back, you can anytime. The two villages aren’t far apart.”

Jin Chao got on the bicycle, patted the back seat, and urged her.

“I know.”

Yan Xiaoyue didn’t understand why she was crying. Perhaps it was the genuine smiles on their faces that made her miss her parents.

She sighed, feeling less suppressed, and said, “Mom and Dad, go in. I’ll be back in a couple of days.”

This sentence felt familiar. The original owner seemed to have said the same thing on her wedding day.

Yan Xiaoyue smiled. Whether it was her or the original owner, they both loved their parents equally.

It was the same, whether it was her parents in another time or her parents in this time. They were the same in her heart.

“Let’s go, new life, here I come!”

Fully resurrected, she sat on the back of the bicycle and started singing.
