Chapter 27: I Want to Take You as My Apprentice!
“Chatterbox!”
Mu Fangru lightly pinched her nose. Yan Xiaoyue suddenly turned serious and said, “Brother and sister-in-law, our family’s matters haven’t even begun. Don’t tell anyone yet. Once we’re stable, if you want to settle scores or get revenge on anyone, you can go ahead and do it directly.”
“Understood.” Everyone nodded, solemnly acknowledging.
“Understood, then let’s go.”
Yan Xiaoyue took her brother and sister-in-law to the city. Two people rode one bicycle, heading towards the city’s largest cultural square. They really did find the adult education college’s admissions office.
This seemed earlier than her time (Please do not examine the specific year, thank you!).
“Excuse me, what are the requirements for enrollment?” Yan Xiaoyue stepped forward. She was relatively young; even if she enrolled in the college entrance examination now, it would be possible.
It’s just that she had already experienced the college entrance examination. She didn’t want to experience that atmosphere again.
“Enrollment requires taking a test. Passing the Level 6 exam qualifies you for the entrance exam. Currently, our country is still in the experimental stage, so the exam is quite simple.”
The staff member introduced various majors; there was currently a shortage of talent in all of them.
Yan Xiaoyue liked Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the most. After some thought, she decided to follow her heart and chose TCM.
“Xiaoyue, weren’t you going to do business administration with us?” Yan Heng became anxious. He and his wife had enrolled in business administration, and Yan Shu had as well. They were just waiting for Xiaoyue, but she had chosen TCM.
“Brother, sister-in-law, leave the matter of creating a culinary empire to you. I have my own dreams to pursue.”
She didn’t know what the TCM program at the adult education college would be like. If it was in this city, there should be classes each week.
“You…” Li Shumei disagreed. Xiaoyue had helped them get started; they couldn’t just take all the credit. It wouldn’t be fair to their sisterly bond.
“Sister-in-law, I’m the one who’s getting the better deal. Think about it, I’m only providing the ideas; you and my brothers are doing all the work. Once you’re established, you won’t need me anymore. I’ll gracefully withdraw then.”
Yan Xiaoyue smiled cunningly. “Sister-in-law, you don’t want to be separated from your brother, right? Well, I don’t want to be separated from Jin Chao either. When he goes to the army, I’ll join the army too.”
She had many ideas. In this booming period, there was no industry that wasn’t making money.
“You always have to be right!”
This was Li Shumei’s first time interacting with Yan Xiaoyue. Before, she looked down on this country girl, thinking she was unsophisticated and short-sighted.
Compared to Yan Zhitao, Yan Zhitao’s knowledge and vision were higher.
Now it seemed that admiration was useless. Yan Zhitao’s high level of knowledge had nothing to do with their family. Yan Zhitao’s attention was all on the eldest branch of the family.
Although their uncle and aunt weren’t home now, their grandparents treated the children of the eldest branch even better than their own.
After Yan Xiaoyue registered, she separated from her teacher and brothers.
The admissions teacher had never seen so many people register together. Many were from factories; because they wanted promotions, their education wasn’t sufficient, so they came to the adult education college.
The government was worried that no one would enroll, so they pressured the factories to make people prioritize this matter.
Passing by a classroom, Yan Xiaoyue saw a familiar face – her cousin, Yan Zhining.
Was she tricked into coming to university by Yan Zhitao?
Yan Zhining also saw her, quickly turning around and pretending not to notice.
Yan Xiaoyue shook her head. Whatever, she didn’t need to pretend she didn’t know her.
“This is our business administration class. Your class will have fewer people. We’ll go to the university for one class per month, just like regular university students. The current classes are because you’re behind.”
The admissions teacher explained in detail. Her brother and sister-in-law stopped here, watching the others get started. Yan Xiaoyue smiled. “Brother, sister-in-law, you don’t need to stay with me. My classroom is close by. You can go and listen to the introductions yourselves. I’ll go and check it out and try a trial class.”
She still wanted a degree. If she didn’t take the college entrance exam, and could still get a degree, she was happy with that.
However, it seemed that there were really few people in the TCM program. Compared to the lively atmosphere elsewhere, there were only two people here: one student and one instructor.
“Our TCM teacher is from the TCM hospital. I heard he was only persuaded to come because he wanted to take on an apprentice; otherwise, he wouldn’t be willing.”
The admissions teacher’s words were quite revealing. Unfortunately, even if he wanted to take on an apprentice, with the number of students in this class, it was doubtful.
“This is it.”
Yan Xiaoyue bowed in a standard ancient greeting and found a seat, attentively listening to the teacher’s first lecture on human anatomy.
Although she didn’t know whether she had seen this anatomical chart a thousand or ten thousand times.
“This new student, can you introduce yourself?”
As the class was about to end, Yan Xiaoyue finally looked directly at the old gentleman. She thought he looked familiar; he really resembled that old TCM doctor from the hospital.
“Hello, teacher. My name is Yan Xiaoyue, and I’m a new student.” Yan Xiaoyue bowed again.
“Mm, will you come to the next class?”
The teacher asked gently.
“Yes, teacher. I just registered.” Yan Xiaoyue still wanted to come; after all, she hadn’t heard these lectures before.
In her previous life, she wanted to take TCM as an elective, but as an outsider, her major didn’t allow it.
She wondered if Western medicine students could take TCM electives.
She had once regretted her limited knowledge. Now she was young and had the chance to make up for it.
“Mm.” The old TCM doctor nodded and packed up to leave.
Yan Xiaoyue got up to leave after the teacher did, showing respect as a student.
“Do you really like TCM?” The female student in front turned around and stared at her intently.
“Mm, I’m interested.” Yan Xiaoyue nodded and got up to leave.
The girl behind her laughed. “Another fool who doesn’t know better.”
Yan Xiaoyue’s hearing was excellent; she heard this clearly.
She looked back, only to see the female student packing her bag.
Raising an eyebrow, she had come empty-handed and was leaving empty-handed.
“Student Yan, wait.” The teacher’s voice came from behind. She paused, then turned around with a smile.
Although she hated trouble, she wasn’t afraid when it came to her.
“Teacher, is there something?” Yan Xiaoyue liked this old TCM doctor. His dedication to his TCM clinic showed his passion.
“I want to take you as my apprentice.” The old TCM doctor’s words were concise and shocked her. She had just started school!
