“My Nephew’s Wife Became My Wife: The Big Shot of the Era Panicked” Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Moving the Family Assets into the Space

Jiang Xiaoci let out a laugh. “This isn’t a dream, and it’s not a place where immortals live. This is a space the bracelet brought us into after recognizing its owner.”

Beneath their feet was a path paved with blue bricks, flanked on both sides by lush greenery and tall trees.

The air was filled with a refreshing fragrance that instantly cleared one’s mind.

About three meters ahead stood a beautiful Western-style villa, nestled amidst a sea of green.

Delicate patterns were carved into the porch columns, and the whole villa radiated a mysterious, magical glow.

The family of three stared at the beautiful house in awe. After all, they had never seen such a luxurious home in the real world.

“This house has quite an unusual structure,” Jiang’s father observed after giving it a thorough look.

Jiang Xiaoci held her parents’ hands and urged, “Dad, Mom, let’s go in and take a look.”

Now that they had experienced so much, Jiang’s parents were no longer timid. Without hesitation, they followed their daughter into the villa.

Inside, the hall was spacious and bright. A vintage, ornate crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. The moment they stepped in, the villa seemed to sense their presence—the lights turned on instantly, casting a soft glow across the floor.

Though amazed, the family of three was starting to get used to these wonders.

Aside from the living room, the villa contained many rooms, each decorated with a mysterious vintage flair.

After a short tour, they found themselves parched.

“This house is nice, but it’s so big it takes forever to get anywhere. I’ll go check the kitchen and boil some water,” said Jiang’s mother. “You two wait on the sofa for a bit. After all that walking, I’m really thirsty.”

Just as she was about to leave, Jiang Xiaoci’s sharp eyes spotted a water dispenser in the corner of the living room.

The dispenser looked old-fashioned and didn’t match the modern decor at all, yet somehow it fit in perfectly.

It had water droplet patterns carved on it—clearly indicating its function.

“Wait, Mom! Maybe you don’t need to boil water. That looks like a water dispenser. Let’s go check it out.”

On the coffee table sat a set of cups. Jiang Xiaoci took one, filled it, and took a sip. The water was unusually sweet and refreshing, completely different from ordinary water.

As soon as she drank it, a description of the spring water flashed through her mind—this was spiritual spring water.

Just one small cup immediately made her feel alert and revitalized, all fatigue gone.

Even more incredibly, she had a clear thought appear in her mind: no matter how much of this spiritual spring she drew, it would never run out. It automatically replenished itself!

“This is a spiritual spring!” Jiang Xiaoci exclaimed joyfully, calling out to her parents. “Dad, Mom, come have a drink too. This isn’t just regular tea or water. It’ll definitely do wonders for you.”

They both drank, and soon felt twice as energized and completely refreshed.

Delighted, the family explored further—wandering outside through the fields and pastures, even checking out some chickens and ducks.

Whenever they felt tired, they’d return to the villa and drink more of the spring water, which instantly restored their strength and spirits.

Jiang Xiaoci was still marveling over the effects of the spiritual spring when a sudden thought interrupted her.

She recalled what Bai Miaomiao had said in her past life—about a “mother and child” dual-space.

The bracelets were a pair, which explained the concept of a mother and child space.

So, was it possible that the other bracelet also contained a separate space?

Excitement and anticipation flashed in Jiang Xiaoci’s eyes. She quickly picked up the other bracelet and helped her mother put it on.

Jiang’s mother tried to decline. “Xiaoci, this is such a precious item. You keep it. No need to give it to me.”

As a mother, she always wanted to save the best for her daughter.

But Jiang Xiaoci insisted, “Mom, just try recognizing it with a drop of blood. The jade bracelets are a matched pair—if they really have a mother-child space, it makes sense for each of us to have one. It’s safer that way.”

Jiang’s father nodded in agreement. “Listen to our daughter and give it a try. There’s no harm in it.”

Jiang’s mother agreed. Without hesitation, she grabbed a small knife, pricked her finger, and let a drop of blood fall onto the bracelet.

The blood was quickly absorbed, and the bracelet turned a glowing red, emitting a soft red light. The light enveloped all three of them, and in an instant, they were transported to another space.

Unlike the previous space with the Western-style villa, this one was completely empty—vast and desolate, but somehow serene and secretive.

“This… this is the other space?” Jiang Xiaoci said in surprise.

“Why is it so empty? There’s absolutely nothing here,” Jiang’s mother frowned.

Jiang’s father also looked confused. “This is completely different from the first space. But it does look like a perfect place to store things. Otherwise, it’s too empty.”

That comment instantly sparked an idea in Jiang Xiaoci’s mind.

Her eyes lit up. “Dad, Mom, I’ve got it!”

Her parents looked at her and asked in unison, “Got what?”

Jiang Xiaoci excitedly proposed, “I’ve figured out what we can use this space for! We should move all our family assets in here. That way, even if Lu Yaozu reports us, there won’t be anything valuable left at home. We won’t have to worry.”

“If Lu Yaozu accuses our family of being capitalist, the authorities will definitely come and investigate our property. But if we don’t have anything valuable at home, how could they call us capitalists? It’d be ridiculous!”

Jiang’s father immediately caught on and clapped his hands. “Brilliant idea!”

Jiang’s mother also beamed. “Our Xiaoci really is smart. What a great idea!”

Jiang Xiaoci stuck out her tongue playfully. After being anxious and fearful for so long, she finally had a solution. Her confidence returned, and she was once again a lively, spirited young girl.

She added, “When they come to investigate, they won’t find anything—just our house. Chances are, nothing will happen to us.”

Evidence matters. Without proof, Jiang Xiaoci believed no one could touch them.

Jiang’s father nodded. “Exactly. Things are tense right now. They’re even registering sewing needles during searches. If they find our family’s valuables, we’ll be in big trouble. Let’s go with your plan. As soon as we leave here, we’ll start moving everything valuable into the space.”

Jiang Xiaoci couldn’t wait. “There’s no time to lose—we need to prepare early. Let’s go, Mom and Dad!”

The three of them reached a consensus and left the space immediately.

Once home, they began packing.

Jiang’s mother suggested that, to be extra safe, they should store things in both spaces.

So they put everything that looked even slightly valuable into the spaces—especially jewelry and clothing.

Jiang Xiaoci didn’t object. After all, what belonged to her parents was meant for her anyway. It didn’t matter which space they stored things in.

The three worked together with full focus and determination.

Meanwhile, Lu Yaozu, having left the Jiang house empty-handed, no longer wore his polite smile.

“That stupid, brainless girl Jiang Xiaoci!” he fumed. “She actually dared to reject me and embarrass me like that?”

He had never been humiliated like this before.

Not only was she nowhere near as clever as Bai Miaomiao, but she was also rude and brash.

With a cold, furious glare, Lu Yaozu kicked a rock by the roadside.

The rock flew off with a whoosh and smashed into a nearby wall.

“Hmph. That delicate young lady? If it weren’t for my parents forcing me, Jiang Xiaoci, do you really think I’d ever be interested in an idiot like you?”
