Chapter 14 – Drink more, Mom added bull penis
A face, as pure and stunning as a lily, emerged in his mind, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned. That breathtaking and heart-fluttering feeling—he thought he would never experience it again.
After all, not just anyone could be her.
When Old Master Lu heard him speak like that, he immediately got angry.
“You little punk! Don’t try to talk your way out of it! You’re already this age and still haven’t found a proper partner. You’re giving me a headache! Back in the day, when your older brother was your age, Yaozu already—”
“Stop, stop, stop.”
Lu Zhoushan cut him off, already fed up with the nagging and trying to prevent the old man from launching into another long-winded lecture.
After a brief pause, realizing this was something he couldn’t avoid, Lu Zhoushan quickly explained,
“Dad, when I said ‘not anymore,’ I meant this blind date went quite well. I want to spend some time with the girl, get to know her better. If you and Mom want me to get married soon, then I have to take the relationship seriously. We can’t rush things and end up in a miserable marriage.”
He was truly tired of all the nagging, and it was rare for him to speak this much. He even looked more serious than usual. A servant brought him a cup of hot tea, and after saying so much, his mouth was dry—he drank it all in one go, looking visibly more refreshed.
He thought to himself that if he didn’t take this seriously, the old man wouldn’t stop nagging and might even arrange more blind dates. He had no interest in meeting other girls.
After all, he had already seen the best.
Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but smile again.
Old Master Lu caught sight of that smile and was stunned. He realized his youngest son might actually be serious this time.
And that smile—when he mentioned that girl just now—tch tch, ever since this kid was born, he’d never seen him smile like that.
The old man’s cloudy eyes suddenly lit up. “Really?”
Lu Zhoushan nodded. “Really.”
Still in disbelief, the old man asked curiously, “What’s so great about this girl? Why did you like her right away?”
He was thinking how his son had gone so many years without even a hint of romantic interest, and now, suddenly, he falls for someone on the very first blind date? This fate came a little too quickly.
Lu Zhoushan said calmly, “She’s very refined, and she’s educated—a cultured person.”
That sounded too vague, almost like a polite formality. Old Master Lu was clearly disappointed. “That’s it?”
Lu Zhoushan chuckled. The image of her lily-like face appeared again in his mind. His tone turned appreciative, and there was a definite gleam in his eyes—he finally looked like a normal, healthy man, not the sickly one everyone knew.
“She’s very beautiful—the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. That so-called hibiscus face, dazzling eyes… None of that compares.”
To hear these words from his always cold and aloof youngest—Old Master Lu was shocked again. So his son was into looks after all. Look at this brat—he clearly fell for her beauty!
Hmph! This brat!
When it came to choosing a daughter-in-law, Old Master Lu cared more about character, so after hearing his son gush about her appearance, he wasn’t sure whether to be happy or not.
That evening, Jiang Defu returned home, and his wife cheerfully told him about their daughter’s blind date. When he learned that their daughter actually liked the guy, he felt both pleased and a little sorrowful.
His little cabbage was about to be taken away.
Jiang Dad sighed,
“In the blink of an eye, our girl’s growing up. We won’t be able to keep her much longer.”
Jiang’s mother chided him,
“What kind of talk is that? We were the ones worried she wouldn’t find someone, and now that she likes someone, you’re suddenly upset?”
Jiang Defu chuckled, though a bit melancholically.
“I’m not upset. I just can’t bear to let her go.”
Jiang’s mother also sighed. Holding the newly knitted scarf in her hands, she put away the needles and said,
“Even if we’re reluctant, we have to let her go. No matter what lies ahead—be it fire or blade—as long as it doesn’t harm our daughter, that’s enough.”
Jiang Dad nodded. Jiang’s mother carried the scarf into their daughter’s room.
“Xiaoci, come take a look. I knitted you a new scarf—it’s red, looks festive, and suits you perfectly.”
Though the family was well-off, Jiang’s mother loved her daughter dearly. When it came to intimate or personal items, she always preferred to make them herself.
Jiang Xiaoci took the rose-red scarf, its stitches fine and the material soft, and held it against her neck. Her elegant brows and eyes looked even more radiant against the rosy scarf.
She smiled sweetly. “Thank you, Mom.”
Jiang’s mother was momentarily dazed, then laughed,
“This girl, still being so polite with Mom. My Xiaoci really has grown up—and looks so beautiful.”
Unlike the peaceful warmth of the Jiang household, the Lu home was rather lively at the moment. Everyone had returned, and since Lu Zhoushan was staying home to rest, the whole family gathered for dinner.
Lu Zhoushan, as usual, didn’t eat much due to his weak constitution. Old Madam Lu, who doted on her youngest, often urged him to eat more.
But tonight, she didn’t say much—something else had lifted her spirits.
Everyone in the family was delighted to learn that Lu Zhoushan’s blind date had gone very well and that the girl was also beautiful.
Old Madam Lu asked for the eighth time that night,
“Zhou’er, tell Mom the truth—do you really think that girl is good?”
Leaning against the back of his chair, Lu Zhoushan picked up his chopsticks lazily.
“Mom, how many times do I have to say it? She’s beautiful. It’s not surprising that I’d think she’s good.”
Old Master Lu, having recovered from his earlier shock, was now calm again, slowly sipping his soup. Father and son had the exact same calm posture—it was oddly identical.
Lu Yuanshan and his wife listened to their conversation while eating, smiles on their faces.
Old Madam Lu smiled as well, but pressed again,
“Just beautiful? Nothing else?”
Lu Zhoushan, still unhurried but clearly losing patience, replied,
“She’s well-mannered, educated, respectful. I think she’s perfect. Is that enough for you?”
Old Madam Lu glared at him.
“This brat, getting snippy with me now?”
But still, she was truly happy. Her son, at this age, still hadn’t started a family—and now, on his very first blind date, he liked the girl. No matter how you looked at it, this was wonderful news.
Lu Yuanshan helped lighten the mood with a chuckle,
“Mom, maybe don’t ask anymore—Zhoushan might get annoyed. Since he likes her, why not just let him pursue her properly?”
Madam Lu echoed the thought with a smile,
“She’s right, Mom. Zhoushan finally likes someone—let’s not push. Once they get along well, he can bring her home, and we’ll see for ourselves.”
Lu Zhoushan didn’t respond—his eyes watching his nose, his nose watching his heart—just letting them talk.
Old Madam Lu was even more pleased hearing this.
“You’re right. Zhou’er, make sure you treat the girl well.”
Then she scooped another bowl of soup for her weak, sickly youngest.
“Drink more. Mom added bull penis in it.”
Old Madam Lu said it matter-of-factly—thinking that the bull penis would help her son look a little less frail.
