Chapter 29 – Arrival
When Shen Yunyun clearly saw Sang Feiyu’s face, her gaze instantly turned sharp. So this was Ning Zhiyuan’s fiancée—she was that beautiful?!
Jealousy surged in her heart, nearly making her lose control.
“Zhiyuan, if you’re not using the bathroom, I’ll go in,” a middle-aged woman behind her said, stepping past Shen Yunyun and entering the restroom.
Shen Yunyun didn’t get angry. Instead, she turned and caught up with Sang Feiyu.
“Wait!”
Sang Feiyu paused slightly, and then heard Shen Yunyun say, “Zhiyuan, can you tell me how you and Zhiyuan-ge met?”
“No comment,” Sang Feiyu replied, her voice as cold as ice.
Shen Yunyun dug her nails into her palm in anger—the pain finally pulling her back to her senses.
Her face pale, she began, “I’ve known Zhiyuan-ge since we were very young. I don’t understand why he refuses to acknowledge me.”
“Besides, everyone in the unit knows he avoids women.”
“How could you possibly be his fiancée?”
Sang Feiyu didn’t even spare her a glance. “That’s none of your business. Just worry about yourself.”
With that, she lifted her foot and walked away.
Su Wei had been quietly observing them, a flicker of doubt flashing in her eyes.
So Shen Yunyun’s “acquaintance” was a man, and he even had a fiancée?
Was Shen Yunyun trying to go after someone who was already taken?
Su Wei now looked at Shen Yunyun with clear disdain.
Her own grandfather had had multiple wives, and even her father had several lovers.
So growing up, she had always despised the kind of people who broke up families.
Shen Yunyun suddenly turned her head and saw the disdain in Su Wei’s eyes. Her heart sank with a heavy thud, and she rushed over to explain, “That person just now is my relative’s partner.”
“To tell you the truth, everyone knows that my relative avoids women. Some people even suspect he’s not into women. I was just worried he was being tricked into a relationship by that woman.”
Su Wei furrowed her brows and asked, “So, your acquaintance is a man?”
Shen Yunyun’s face turned red in an instant. She stammered for ages but couldn’t get a word out.
Su Wei crossed her arms and said coldly, “Why did you lie to me?”
“Besides, he already has a fiancée. Why did you say all that to cause misunderstandings between them?”
“Don’t tell me—you’ve fallen for your own relative?”
Shen Yunyun was stunned by the barrage of questions. “No! I was just worried he was being tricked.”
“He’s really innocent. I doubt he’s ever spoken to a strange woman in his life.”
Su Wei stared at her coolly. “Oh? Is that so?”
“It is! I’m really afraid he’s being fooled.”
Su Wei gave a meaningful smile. “If I were a man and got tricked by a woman that beautiful, I’d do it willingly.”
Shen Yunyun was dumbfounded.
Su Wei, on the other hand, didn’t care in the slightest. She stepped into the bathroom first.
It was as if all of Shen Yunyun’s thoughts had been laid bare—she had nowhere to hide!
Flustered, she hurried away. As she passed the car where Ning Zhiyuan was, she saw him carefully handing a cup of water to Sang Feiyu. “It’s a little hot, be careful.”
That warm voice drifted gently to her ears, but felt worlds away.
So… Ning Zhiyuan had such a gentle side too!
Her heart twisted in pain, reality landing a harsh slap across her face—but she still refused to wake up.
“Young lady, your fiancé is quite the catch. Early in the morning, he’s helping you fetch water to wash your face and even heating your food. Even this old woman feels envious,” came a voice from the compartment.
Hearing this, Shen Yunyun stomped her foot in frustration and walked away.
Sang Feiyu didn’t even glance her way. Who else could be so shameless?
As for the things Shen Yunyun said to her earlier, Sang Feiyu had already told Ning Zhiyuan everything—to give him a heads-up.
Ning Zhiyuan hadn’t expected Shen Yunyun to stir up drama behind the scenes. Thankfully, his fiancée was rational and understanding. Otherwise, not even jumping into the Yellow River could clear his name!
“Xiao Yu, from now on, if you see her, just ignore her.”
“When we get back to the unit, I’ll call my mom and let her handle it with my aunt.”
Sang Feiyu smiled slightly. “Perfect. Now all your relatives will know what kind of person she really is.”
“If she doesn’t want her face, I don’t mind tearing it off!”
“As long as you trust me, that’s enough,” Ning Zhiyuan said, still shaken.
If his fiancée were the type to bottle things up, their misunderstandings would pile up sky-high!
Fortunately, she wasn’t that kind of person.
Ning Zhiyuan found himself falling for her even more.
If Shen Yunyun knew that all her scheming not only failed to drive a wedge between them but actually brought them closer, she’d probably faint from anger.
…
The train finally arrived at Fushi Station in Min Province. Ning Zhiyuan was loaded with luggage but still managed to free up one hand to hold Sang Feiyu’s.
“Careful, don’t get separated.”
“Mmhm.”
Sang Feiyu didn’t resist his intimate gestures at all. In fact, when the crowd pushed too close, she instinctively leaned toward Ning Zhiyuan.
This scene fell into Shen Yunyun’s eyes, and she nearly exploded with fury!
She clenched her molars and followed closely behind them.
Sang Feiyu noticed and whispered, “Why is she following us?”
“Her cousin’s in the army. Maybe she’s going to stay with relatives?” Ning Zhiyuan actually wasn’t sure about Shen Yunyun’s situation.
Nor did he care to find out.
“Commander! Over here!”
The one calling out was their ride—Ning Zhiyuan’s old buddy and comrade, Chen Zhigang, who currently served as deputy company commander.
Ning Zhiyuan introduced him to Sang Feiyu, “This is the Chen Zhigang I mentioned before.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Zhigang greeted her with a grin, “So you’re the sister-in-law!”
Sang Feiyu responded generously, “Hello, Comrade Chen.”
“Great, great! Let’s get in the car first.”
Chen Zhigang, being sharp-eyed, quickly helped carry some luggage. This was the first time he’d seen Ning Zhiyuan bring so much on a train—it gave him serious “househusband” vibes.
They used to be known as the most eligible bachelors in the unit. Now? A few days of leave and the guy comes back with a fiancée and a marriage report already filed. Only he, Chen Zhigang, was still the lonely leftover.
As he sighed in his heart, he saw Ning Zhiyuan open the car door for Sang Feiyu.
Chen clicked his tongue twice—his old comrade had really changed!
Even his face looked softer and more cheerful!
Sang Feiyu and Ning Zhiyuan sat in the backseat, while Chen Zhigang got in the front passenger seat. “Commander, sister-in-law, sit tight!”
“Mmhm.”
Just as he was about to start the car, he saw someone standing in front, arms spread, blocking their way—
