[Modern Romance] Secretary Jiang Is Digging Another Pit for the CEO
Secretary Jiang Is Digging Another Pit for the CEO Chapter 4

Chapter 4

No matter what, they still had to go on their honeymoon.

After breakfast, Gu Jingcheng and Jiang Yehui said their goodbyes to the family and left.

On the way to the airport, they didn’t exchange a single word. Especially Gu Jingcheng—though he seemed just as composed as usual, Jiang Yehui could clearly sense that he was in a bad mood.

She wasn’t affected at all. She asked the driver to play music and occasionally chatted politely with the assistant in the front passenger seat.

From the corner of his eye, Gu Jingcheng could see how relaxed and cheerful she was. Annoyed, he simply closed his eyes and ignored her.

Thirty minutes later, they arrived at the airport. After a quick VIP security check, a private car took them to the tarmac—where Gu Jingcheng’s private jet awaited.

Standing near the plane was a team of sharply dressed staff, and leading them was none other than his assistant, Jin Jining.

Were they going on a honeymoon or to open a new company? Why bring the whole executive team—and the chief assistant?

Jiang Yehui was confused, but before she could ask, Gu Jingcheng turned to her. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, “Will you be okay on your own?”

“Hm?” Jiang Yehui raised an eyebrow. Her eyes were hidden behind oversized sunglasses, and she couldn’t tell what he meant.

“There’s an emergency at the company. I’m taking another plane back.”

Ah… so that’s it.

Jiang Yehui couldn’t tell whether he was telling the truth or just using it as an excuse to ditch her. After all, her suggestion that morning about a sexless marriage probably humiliated him.

But with Assistant Jin showing up suddenly, maybe there really was a crisis.

Either way—she was overjoyed.

She pretended to think for a moment, then gave the calm, generous response befitting a CEO’s wife. “Business comes first.”

Gu Jingcheng nodded, seemingly unsurprised by her response, then glanced to the side. “Protect Madam well.”

Immediately, two people in black stepped forward and took their places to Jiang Yehui’s left and right, forming a protective formation.

Only then did Jiang Yehui notice—they were both women, despite the short haircuts.

She smiled and accepted it. Not only had he arranged for bodyguards, but he’d also been attentive enough to choose women. She really had no complaints.

Gu Jingcheng lifted his wrist to glance at his watch, then said in a low voice, “Give me your phone.”

Jiang Yehui was puzzled but still took her phone out of her small bag. Under his gaze, she unlocked the screen.

Suddenly, Gu Jingcheng took half a step closer, removed her sunglasses, and casually pulled her into his shoulder. With one hand he held the phone up behind them, opened the camera app, and took a photo with the plane in the background before handing the phone back to her.

Jiang Yehui could still feel the warmth of his breath on her neck from when he leaned close just now—it tingled slightly, making her remember the way his touch felt the night before.

She touched the back of her neck and cleared her throat, trying to recover from his sudden actions. Then she looked down at the photo—and was speechless!

The plane took up half the frame, which was fine, but the real problem was the weird angle. Her face had turned into some pointy-chinned internet meme disaster. Worse, she hadn’t been prepared when he pulled her into his arms, so her expression looked totally dazed.

And then there was him—sharp brows, striking eyes, not a single flaw.

Hmph! Just as she was about to scold him, she heard him say blandly, “Send it to the group.”

“…Huh?”

She stared at him in surprise. Then after a brief thought, she understood what he was up to.

An hour earlier, when they were saying goodbye at the hotel, her mother-in-law had specifically told them to take lots of photos. To that end, she’d even added her to the Gu family’s relatives group chat.

Regardless of her mother-in-law’s motives, Gu Jingcheng had probably decided not to go on the honeymoon as early as that morning. Now, after pretending all morning in front of the moms, he was shamelessly asking her to help him continue the charade.

Did he really think she wouldn’t play along?

Of course she would!! And at this point, she didn’t even care how bad she looked in the photo. Without hesitation, she sent it to the family group, adding a cheerful voice message:

“Jingcheng and I are off! We’ll bring everyone back gifts!”

The Gu family group chat immediately lit up with enthusiastic replies. Some called her “Sister-in-law,” others “Wifey,” some “Auntie,” and a few even called her “Xiao Ye.” Jiang Yehui was so busy responding to all the unfamiliar names that she didn’t notice the faint smirk tugging at the corner of Gu Jingcheng’s lips.

While she was still replying to voice messages, Assistant Jin approached Gu Jingcheng and spoke quietly.

Though Jiang Yehui couldn’t hear clearly, she was sure she caught the words “Miss Yu.”

She saw Gu Jingcheng frown slightly, then casually say, “Have her wait at the office tomorrow morning.”

Assistant Jin nodded and stepped aside to continue a phone call.

Jiang Yehui, meanwhile, was already wondering—Miss Yu?

A spark of realization hit her. Yu Jiayun?

Her gut told her it was! A woman important enough to make Gu Jingcheng fly back on the first day of their honeymoon—there was no way that was innocent.

This was a huge win! Jiang Yehui could barely contain her joy.

Gu Jingcheng had signed the supplemental agreement. Just a week before the wedding, Assistant Jin had personally delivered a medical report. She didn’t care who he had slept with before the wedding, but if he messed around after… that was cheating.

And if he cheated, she could forbid him from touching her again and even request to live separately. Then she could enjoy the freedom of married life… on her own terms.

The corners of her lips lifted involuntarily as she began to think about which of her many properties she should move into. But just as she was immersed in her pleasant thoughts, she met Gu Jingcheng’s sharp gaze—and quickly reined in her expression.

His eyes flickered briefly, then he actually softened a little. “Have fun. Take lots of pictures.”

You’re not going? Of course I’ll have fun. But she still put on a regretful look and said, “Hope you finish your work soon and come join me.”

“You sure about that?”

Jiang Yehui immediately regretted opening her mouth and quickly shifted gears, putting on an eager tone. “Or… I could not go either and just return with you?”

Gu Jingcheng raised a brow ever so slightly, looking at her with a half-smile. Then he gently put her sunglasses back on and raised his hand in a gesture of invitation, asking her to board the plane.

Ugh! See? He won’t let me go back with him. That must mean he’s hiding his affair with that actress!

Now she was even more convinced something was going on between him and Yu Jiayun.

Fine. No rush. Jiang Yehui adjusted her sunglasses, curved her lips into a bright smile, and gracefully walked up the boarding steps.

The two female bodyguards had already picked up her luggage and were following close behind.

At the cabin door stood two tall, beautiful flight attendants with welcoming smiles. The one on the left was especially stunning—just in her twenties, baby-faced and glowing, with striking lipstick and alluring eyes. Her style was vaguely similar to Yu Jiayun’s, only much younger.

Jiang Yehui gave them a polite nod as she walked past, then casually glanced back at the pretty one on the left. She saw her name badge: Yang Xiaoguo.

At this moment, Miss Yang’s professional smile had faded. She was staring at someone with a gaze full of longing and affection, almost love-struck.

Jiang Yehui followed her line of sight—and, of course, it landed squarely on Gu Jingcheng.

Oh, now this is getting interesting.

A faint smirk tugged at her lips.

She was no stranger to private jets. The Zhou family had one too. And for someone of Gu Jingcheng’s status, the attendants on board certainly weren’t from any commercial airline. They were private—meaning they served only this jet, or rather… only Gu Jingcheng.

She couldn’t help but purse her lips.

Mr. Gu, you really do like to spread the charm around, don’t you?

She glanced back toward the tarmac.

Gu Jingcheng was still standing there, talking to Assistant Jin. Even from this angle, he stood tall and poised.

Since it was a vacation trip, Gu Jingcheng’s outfit today was quite different from the formal styles she was used to seeing him in. He wore a white T-shirt under a light-colored long trench coat. His hair was unstyled, with a few stray strands naturally falling across his forehead, making him appear more approachable than usual.

Even so, standing among several subordinates in dark suits who clearly exuded elite vibes, he still carried an aura of authority—noble and elegant.

Jiang Yehui had to admit, this was truly a striking man. His face alone could steal countless girls’ hearts. Thankfully, she had long ceased to be a naïve girl dreaming of romance—otherwise, she might have already fallen.

With a faint smile, she retracted her gaze and walked into the cabin.

At a glance, the luxury inside surpassed even the Zhou family’s Gulfstream G550.

The lounge area had more than a dozen comfortable, spacious seats. Only one seat had a table in front of it, on which sat a vibrant bouquet of flowers and the latest issue of a financial magazine.

That was clearly Gu Jingcheng’s usual spot.

Without giving it much thought, Jiang Yehui sat down, adjusted the seat back, reclined comfortably, and began scrolling on her phone.

A stewardess thoughtfully brought over a blanket and asked if she needed anything. She requested a glass of lemon water.

The stewardess retreated, and the two bodyguards, showing good sense, sat a bit farther away to give her some privacy.

After replying to a few WeChat messages, she got up to explore the cabin. There was a conference room, a media room, and further in, a luxurious bedroom.

Inside was a large bed that looked exceptionally comfortable, complete with an en suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The closet was filled with rows of meticulously hung, custom-tailored suits, along with coordinated shirts, ties, and accessories.

Without a doubt, this was Gu Jingcheng’s private bedroom.

Jiang Yehui turned back, thinking to check out the cockpit next, but as she passed the small kitchen, she heard people talking—and the content of their conversation made her stop in her tracks.

“We were originally scheduled to fly to Beigang with Mr. Gu. Now we’ve been rerouted to Ma city. It’s all her fault!”

“We’re just crew on this plane. What difference does it make where we fly?”

“How is it the same? This is Mr. Gu’s private jet. We’re here to serve him. Mr. Gu had urgent business back home—why didn’t he just let her wait for the backup plane?”

“What’s so strange about that? It just shows that Mr. Gu values his wife.”

Jiang Yehui immediately understood—it was Yang Xiaoguo and another flight attendant talking.

At that moment, one of the female bodyguards stood up, thinking something might be wrong. Jiang Yehui raised a finger to her lips in a shushing gesture.

The bodyguard hesitated, then quietly sat back down.

Jiang Yehui curled her lips in amusement. Speak of the devil. She hadn’t even run into “Number One” Yu Jiayun yet, and “Number Two” Little Temptress had already stepped out on her own.
