Chapter 34: Another Harvest!
“Of course, no problem!”
Lu Chuan smiled.
“In that case, I’ll head back and get to work!”
“You all go home, discuss things properly, and have the village head give me a clear answer!”
Lu Chuan nodded and said.
He then greeted Sun Zhi before leaving!
After seeing Lu Chuan leave, Sun Zhi slapped the table.
“Everyone, calm down!”
“Going into the mountains isn’t as simple as it sounds. Even the people from Zhao Village have had casualties when hunting. And up there, without someone capable leading the way, sometimes you can’t even find your way around!”
Sun Zhi paused, then continued, “I still think it’s good to have a bit of a profit. With Lu Chuan leading, everyone can get a piece of the pie!”
“And you all know how capable he is!”
“Even the hunters from Zhao Village are no match for him!”
At this moment, a voice came from the crowd.
“It might just be luck. He never hunted before, so how could he catch a wild boar so easily after just going into the mountains?”
“Exactly!”
“Village head, we know you care about this boy, but you’re making him sound too extraordinary!”
The woman continued, “He’s just a kid, a little lucky to have caught a wild boar! Before, we didn’t think hunting was that easy!”
“If we had known, he wouldn’t even have a chance!”
“Right…”
The crowd continued to speak, one after the other.
They cornered Sun Zhi, who finally let out a bitter smile, “You all decide for yourselves! Go home and discuss it with your families!”
“I won’t persuade you any further.”
Sun Zhi realized that no matter what he said, they wouldn’t believe him. So, he just nodded and accepted their responses.
He had done what he needed to do.
As for what the others decided, that was their own choice.
Back at home, Lu Chuan went to check on the brick kiln.
The entire kiln was built with stone slabs, mud bricks, and a mixture of yellow clay, but it still needed to dry out.
Fortunately, there was no shortage of wood in the mountains.
He gathered some wood and lit a fire in the kiln.
“If only I had some sweet potatoes, peanuts, or carrots…”
Lu Chuan’s voice held a trace of longing.
Sweet potatoes originated from the tropical regions of Mexico and Colombia.
In his world, they only reached China in the late 16th century.
In this world, Lu Chuan had carefully studied the geography and found that it was quite similar to his own world.
So, sweet potatoes, carrots, and peanuts should still be somewhere in the world, hiding in a corner.
However, even if he could get them, he wouldn’t be able to use them directly; they would likely need to be cultivated or bred first.
And unfortunately, Lu Chuan didn’t possess the skill for that!
He couldn’t help but sigh.
It seemed that if he ever got the chance, he’d need to search for some of these things.
Many spices could still be found nearby, and even if not, he could substitute them with herbs. In the apothecary, he might find some substitutes.
Otherwise, the stew would have no flavor.
Lu Chuan stayed by the kiln, constantly adding wood.
For now, the fire couldn’t be too large, and the temperature had to stay moderate.
Otherwise, the kiln could crack easily.
This type of kiln needed to be heated gradually, and during the process, it also had to cool down a bit.
It was much like…
“Charging forward all at once is definitely not going to work.
It needs to be slow and steady!
It needs to be gradual!
The temperature must rise continuously!
And then, little by little, push it to the peak!”
As Lu Chuan increased the temperature, he constantly checked the surrounding area of the brick kiln for cracks.
He found that his technique was still quite good.
However, the initial setup seemed to only allow for the firing of simple bricks.
But, with so many days passed, it was also time to check whether Su Ruan and Bai Siyu’s favorability towards him had increased!
Hmm!
He would take a good look tonight!
With this thought, Lu Chuan patted his backside and then stood up.
Just as he was about to walk toward the courtyard, he heard a loud wolf howl.
Lu Chuan turned around and looked, spotting a wolf standing in the distance on the mountain, looking mighty and imposing.
It seemed to have recovered well, and its injuries were no longer as serious!
When the wolf saw Lu Chuan look at it, it howled once more.
Lu Chuan turned back around and shouted toward the courtyard.
“Brainless, Unhappy…”
“Come out for a bit!”
The two little wolf cubs, full of energy, dashed out of the yard.
At that moment, the green wolf in the distance seemed to have a soft look in its eyes. When it looked at the little cubs, its gaze became gentler.
It then turned around and disappeared from view.
Lu Chuan looked in the direction where the green wolf had disappeared and couldn’t help but touch his nose.
This wretch—how come it didn’t bring anything this time?
With that thought, Lu Chuan squatted down, picked up Brainless and Unhappy, and gave them a slap.
“Next time your father comes!”
“Make sure he brings something. You’re both at that stage where you’re growing!”
Lu Chuan said with a smile.
He then carried them back into the courtyard.
He looked at Bai Siyu for a moment, then called up the status panel in his mind.

Seeing this, Lu Chuan was momentarily stunned.
He suddenly felt a little speechless.
He had realized that he hadn’t actually acquired the beginner Planting Skill yet.
So, even though he had acquired the intermediate Planting Skill, it couldn’t be loaded!
This made him feel a bit itchy with curiosity.
But luckily, it was just planting skills.
Lu Chuan didn’t dwell on it too much. He was still thinking that he didn’t have much experience with planting things.
So that was the reason.
With this thought in mind, Lu Chuan looked at Su Ruan beside him.
Su Ruan’s favorability had never been very high, but this time, it should have improved a little, right?

Lu Chuan widened his eyes.
