The issue with the household registration should be relatively easy to resolve, especially since Xu Deming and Xie Bingyan don’t really care about these formalities.
However, Xu Mo was missing a household head to move in.
Actually, it wasn’t absolutely necessary to have a household head; he could simply transfer his registration back to the orphanage.
Xu Mo had already severed ties with them, and the police would likely acknowledge that.
The group got busy with their tasks when they saw Tang Jingyi, the old director, approaching. They hurriedly greeted her and started chatting.
The old director was quite kind-hearted. Upon learning that all four of them were orphans, she frequently invited them over to her house for meals.
Once you get to know someone, it becomes easier to talk, and gradually, there were more and more things to discuss. The old director seemed to fear loneliness and eventually invited the four of them to come over for meals every day.
Xu Mo and Tang Lei naturally declined at first, but after the old director extended several warm invitations, they occasionally went over to chat and keep her company.
The director’s husband, surnamed Zhao and named Zhao Weiguo, was a chip engineer who dedicated his life to developing domestic chips. He was extremely focused on his work and also very kind-hearted.
It seemed that the house had been quiet for too long, so having the four of them over for meals made Mr. Zhao very happy as well.
“Our progress has been swift; we’ve now developed a user base of over 60,000. Currently, we’re advertising to establish the brand first!”
While eating, Xu Mo and the others updated Mr. and Mrs. Tang, the director and her husband, on their company’s development, hoping to gain some valuable advice.
Both of them were highly educated and well-versed in many areas. With their suggestions, Xu Mo and the others could navigate their path more smoothly.
“The damage rate has increased significantly. Recently, some people have been stealing our bikes, and others have been secretly pushing them into the river. We’re working on resolving these issues!”
“Additionally, the most important issue is that the urban management has raised some concerns about the presence of our bikes. Some of them have been confiscated by the urban management officers!”
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Tang and Mr. Zhao asked, “Why would the urban management confiscate them?”
Xu Mo spread his hands and smiled, “They said there were too many bikes, affecting the city’s appearance and obstructing pedestrian pathways. Of course, only a small portion has been confiscated.”
Mrs. Tang laughed upon hearing this, “As long as it’s not many! Your project is convenient for pedestrians, helps protect the environment, and reduces traffic congestion. Xiahai City should be supportive!”
“We hope for their support as well and are working hard to communicate with them. But these are minor issues; we will resolve them one by one in due course!” Xu Mo replied optimistically.
“Good, good! You kids have ideals, courage, and intelligence. You’ll definitely succeed! I have high hopes for you!” Mr. Zhao said with a smile.
Mrs. Tang also spoke up, “You four, if you don’t have time to cook, just come and eat at Auntie Tang’s place every day! It’s quiet here, and I hope you can come over daily!”
Xu Mo and Tang Lei exchanged a glance and nodded with a smile, “Thank you, Auntie Tang and Mr. Zhao. We’ll come over whenever we have time!”
“Good, good!”
Mrs. Tang was delighted to hear this.
As she went to prepare the meal, Gu Huanxi and Li Banzhuang quickly went to help. Their quick and diligent work brought great joy to Mrs. Tang.
Meanwhile, Xu Mo and Tang Lei continued watching TV and chatting with Mr. Zhao.

Xie Bingyan fell ill!
She became very sick.
The plane from Paris landed in Xiahai City around 9 PM. As soon as they deplaned, Xie Bingyan started to have a fever and vomit, becoming delirious. She was rushed to the Fu Yi hospital.
It was likely the climate change that caused their discomfort. Not only did Xie Bingyan develop a fever upon returning, but Xu Deming, Xu Junzhe, and Xu Manni also began to run fevers around the same time.
Since Xu Shuying worked as a doctor at the Fu Yi hospital, the entire family was taken there for treatment.
Upon hearing that Xie Bingyan had become delirious and started vomiting, Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui hurried over to check on her.
“It’s likely the climate change causing their discomfort; they’ve all started to develop high fevers,” Xu Shuying explained.
“Junzhe and Manni are in better condition, but Mom’s constitution is weaker, and she’s in a very serious state,” she continued. “They are currently receiving IV treatments, and we’ll need to reassess their condition tomorrow.”
After treating Xie Bingyan and the others, Xu Shuying looked visibly worried.
“They’re going to be okay, right?” Xu Wanting asked.
“They will be. It’s just a fever; once it stopped, they’ll be fine,” Xu Shuying reassured her.
“That’s good to hear!” Xu Wanting said, relieved. Seeing that they were all sick, she decided not to leave the hospital and stayed to keep watch over them.
This time, they brought back many gifts from their trip, with several suitcases full. From the photos they posted in the group chat, it seemed they had a great time.
Xu Junzhe and Xu Manni’s symptoms were milder, while Xie Bingyan’s condition was more severe. Xu Wanting, wearing a mask, pushed the door open and went inside to see Xie Bingyan lying in bed, receiving an IV drip.
Since Xu Shuying said there was nothing to worry about, it should be just a high fever.
Xu Wanting looked at Xie Bingyan’s pale face, unsure if she should notify Xu Mo and have him come over as well.
“Let’s ask Xu Mo about it tomorrow. Mom is quite sick this time; I hope she recovers quickly,” Xu Xuehui, understanding what Xu Wanting was thinking, suggested.
Xu Wanting nodded in agreement.
That night, Xu Wanting, Xu Xuehui, and Xu Shuying stayed at the Fu Yi hospital to take care of the five patients.
Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui also checked on Xu Manni. They found her lying in bed, looking weak and lethargic, which made them feel quite serious about the situation.
Initially, they had considered investigating whether Xu Manni had poisoned anyone, but seeing her current state, they decided to wait until she recovered before pursuing that line of inquiry.
Now, even Xu Manni was delirious.
The day passed quickly, and by the next day, Xu Manni, Xu Junzhe, and the others had improved somewhat, regaining partial clarity.
However, after Xu Shuying examined their condition, she found that their fevers had not yet subsided, and they remained in a dazed state.
The Xu family was wealthy, so money was not an issue. Moreover, Xu Shuying was a doctor. Upon noticing that Xie Bingyan’s condition was deteriorating, she immediately arranged for her to be transferred to the ICU and prepared a ventilator to assist her breathing.
Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui waited anxiously outside.
As time passed in treatment, by the afternoon of the next day, Xu Manni, Xu Junzhe, and the others had finally improved significantly, with their fevers starting to subside.
However, Xie Bingyan remained in the ICU, her symptoms showing no signs of improvement.
“This fever was quite severe. Luckily, we started treatment early; otherwise, it would have been very troublesome,” Xu Shuying remarked, feeling a slight sense of relief seeing Xu Manni and the others recovering.
“However, we still need to pay close attention to Mom’s condition and hope it doesn’t worsen,” Xu Shuying added.
“Agreed.”
After Xu Manni, Xu Junzhe, and the others recovered from their fevers, their symptoms improved significantly, and they could gradually eat and speak.
Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui exchanged a few words with them before focusing their attention back on taking care of Xie Bingyan.
Xie Bingyan lay on the hospital bed with the ventilator, her eyes opening hazily. “What time is it, Wanting?” she asked.
“It’s 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Mom. Would you like some porridge?” Xu Wanting asked, offering to feed her a spoonful of porridge.
“Alright, Wanting, I feel uncomfortable,” Xie Bingyan said.
Seeing Xie Bingyan’s pale face and purple lips, Xu Wanting quickly reassured her, “Once the fever goes down, you’ll feel better soon!”
“Mmm, Wanting, you should start thinking about your lifelong matters too!” Xie Bingyan suddenly spoke up.
Xu Wanting’s expression froze.
“Xuehui should consider it too. Otherwise, if you keep busy all the time, you’ll end up an old maid!” Xie Bingyan added.
Xu Wanting nodded and said, “We will consider it, Mom, don’t worry!”
“Good,” Xie Bingyan replied, then started to doze off.
Seeing her drift off to sleep, Xu Wanting set the porridge aside and walked out with Xu Xuehui.
“Xuehui, please keep an eye on Mom. I’ll go find Xu Mo,” Xu Wanting said.
“Sister?” Xu Xuehui looked at her anxiously.
“Mom is in the ICU now, and her fever hasn’t gone down yet. Xu Mo should come and see her! Once he’s here, we can talk to him,” Xu Wanting explained.
Xu Xuehui sniffed and asked, “What if he doesn’t come?”
“If he doesn’t come…” Xu Wanting looked troubled and sighed, “I don’t know either! Let’s take it one step at a time! But, in any case, he deserves to know about this!”
Xu Xuehui didn’t know what to say. She just felt that Xu Mo should indeed be informed.
