Apocalypse Prepper Gone Lazy Chapter 35

Chapter 35: Equally Dividing the Supplies

The three of them were all stunned, staring in disbelief.

“Stop staring. Let him sleep for a while!”

Alright, she admitted she had misunderstood just now.

With that huge problem dealt with, the group quickly got to work, moving supplies back and forth carefully. They still had to be wary of the people on the 5th floor, so they moved cautiously.

All the supplies were moved into unit 0902, which was the nearest.

Once everything was inside, the three of them collapsed to the floor in exhaustion.

Only Song Yi remained composed and calm, as if nothing had happened.

“Brother Song, you have amazing stamina…”

“Mm.”

He gave a soft response and began organizing the supplies.

He took everything out and laid it on the floor, making it easier to see and sort.

“Let’s divide everything into four shares. Since Brother Song provided the kayak, he should get an extra portion.”

“I agree!”

Ye Mianmian knew her physical ability was the weakest, and the group had helped her a lot. Being able to get anything at all made her happy.

“I agree too,” Jiang Yuan said indifferently. She had plenty of supplies at home anyway.

“Let’s just split everything evenly…”

“But Brother Song, that wouldn’t be fair to you…”

“If you think it’s unfair, then work harder next time.”

His voice was cool, but it gave everyone a sense of security.

“Next time? Brother Song, are you saying you’ll take me with you next time?”

Zhang Kaiyang was thrilled, flailing his arms with a big goofy grin on his face.

Ye Mianmian, beside him, had stars in her eyes too. Following Song Yi meant food on the table—his combat skills were top-notch.

If she had gone alone, she probably wouldn’t have even made it past the water at the entrance, let alone gather supplies.

“Don’t waste time. Start sorting quickly…”

With that order, no one dared to rest.

The sheer volume of supplies was exciting just to look at.

The four of them spent half an hour sorting everything.

“Yuan-jie, the money’s pretty much useless now. You keep it.”

Zhang Kaiyang glanced at the bag in the middle—it was the one Jiang Yuan had placed there earlier.

“Yeah, you take it, Yuan-jie…”

Jiang Yuan looked at everyone, and since they were all saying it, she accepted it. After all, she wasn’t exactly rich either.

“Alright, thanks, everyone.”

They each packed their share into woven bags. Jiang Yuan had a bigger one.

There were a lot of snacks and puffed food, which took up space but weren’t too heavy.

The four of them helped bring Ye Mianmian’s share up to the 11th floor first, then started hauling the rest to the 21st floor.

Jiang Xingzhi had been watching the hallway, keeping an eye on the situation outside. When he saw Jiang Yuan return, he rushed over to help.

For the final trip, he went down with Song Yi, letting Jiang Yuan rest at home.

They also escorted Ye Mianmian and Zhang Kaiyang back safely.

Qin Yue saw her daughter in such a disheveled state and felt heartbroken, immediately pushing her toward the bathroom.

“Quick, take a hot shower or you’ll catch a cold…”

As she turned away, she noticed her mother’s eyes were red.

So, not only had she stayed up all night, but her parents had been worried sick and hadn’t slept either.

A lot had happened today, but the harvest was worth it. That convenience store may have been small, but it had a lot of stuff.

If things stay calm, she planned to stay home for the next two days and observe the situation.

After a hot shower and changing into warm pajamas, Qin Yue made her a bowl of ginger soup.

She gulped it down in one go, and her whole body felt warm.

Jiang Xingzhi returned too, and the two of them quietly organized the supplies.

“Dad, Mom, you two should go rest. We can finish sorting after sunrise.”

“It’s fine, we’re old, don’t sleep as much. You go sleep, sweetie!”

“Okay.”

Jiang Yuan was indeed exhausted. The last two days had been physically demanding—her legs felt like they were filled with lead.

Little Nuan was in the room with her grandparents, enjoying the big bed alone. Jiang Yuan fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.

When she woke up, it was already noon.

Looking outside at the gloomy, dark sky, her mood dropped a little.

Out of habit, she reached for her phone—it was ice cold.

Even her breath was foggy. She checked the indoor thermometer: only 2°C. Time to bring out the padded winter jacket.

She had over 99 unread messages. She clicked on the group chat first.

People on the 2nd floor were making a fuss, first accusing someone of attacking them, then complaining that someone had brought back tons of supplies.

The four of them had been bundled up tightly—he didn’t know who they were or what floor they lived on.

Most of the messages were from after 7 a.m.

Now everyone knew that someone from Building 13 had scored a large haul, and they were all trying to guess who it was.

Some quickly suspected Song Yi, especially linking it to his previous actions, and even tagged him.

But Song Yi didn’t respond.

Another group thought it couldn’t be him—he’d already gotten so much before, he wouldn’t risk going out again.

The two sides bickered back and forth until Sun Yian stepped in, calling on everyone to go out and search for food together to solve their own problems.

He also encouraged those with stockpiles to share, so everyone could get through the hardship together.

But barely anyone responded—only those who had nothing left at home.

Last time, many had gone out to buy supplies, so quite a few households still had food—especially those with elderly or children who cooked often.

But the most explosive news came from the building manager.

The community had lost power. Despite being on high ground, the storm had been too severe, the transformer was damaged, and there was no way to fix it.

After sending that message, the building manager vanished. No matter how much people @’d him, he didn’t reply.

Eventually, people got angry—but the building manager might as well have left the group. If it weren’t for his still-active WeChat account, Jiang Yuan would’ve thought he’d disappeared off the face of the earth.

No electricity—this was a bad sign.

There was no sun now either, so her solar panels wouldn’t work.

And the storm was expected to last another half a month. No one knew if their battery reserves would hold out.

She had a power strip in her spatial storage, but it couldn’t be used for too long—that was a problem.

She had to make money—no question about it.

With that thought, Jiang Yuan felt motivated again.

She walked out to the living room, where her parents were already up and playing with Little Nuan.

When the little girl saw her, she ran over excitedly. “Mama!”

“Hey, baby…”

Jiang Yuan couldn’t help kissing her. The warm, cuddly little girl had been dressed in handmade padded clothes by Grandma and looked even more adorable.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a new message.

She checked it—Zhang Kaiyang had created a group chat with just the four of them.

@Everyone: “That guy from the 2nd floor came knocking. Don’t open your doors. Be careful—he’s probably looking for trouble.”

Jiang Yuan immediately responded with a “received,” and so did Song Yi.

Zhang Kaiyang even specifically tagged Ye Mianmian—but she hadn’t replied yet.
