Apocalypse Prepper Gone Lazy
Apocalypse Prepper Gone Lazy Chapter 47

Chapter 47: Treasure Hunting in Building D

She thought it was just a joke, but no one else could laugh. There was a sense of finality in the air.

“Don’t be like that. I’m just being lazy, making you carry an extra trip…”
She pretended to be relaxed, but deep down, she had already expected to be the one left behind.

There was no way she could give up on so many supplies.

“Yuan-jie, please be careful. We’ll put everything on the 9th floor and come back for you as soon as we can,”
Ye Mianmian’s eyes turned red. Being left behind scared her—not just the idea of danger, but the possibility that they might never come back to get her. The distance was so far, she could never make it back alone.

Even if she died trying, she wouldn’t make it.

“It’s fine, Mianmian. Hurry up and go. It’s getting late.”
“Okay… let’s go.”

Once Song Yi gave the order, everyone boarded the kayaks. Both boats were packed full of supplies. After this trip, they probably wouldn’t go out for a long time.

Everyone knew how important this trip was.

Jiang Yuan watched as the boats rowed away and finally felt at ease.

She remembered exactly what was on each floor. It would take them at least four hours to make the round trip, including unloading.

She had her own kayak too—small, but good enough for just herself.

Time was tight, so there was no time to overthink. She quickly started scavenging, floor by floor.

Her target was simple: solid wood furniture and any soil she could find.

Earlier, when Zhang Kaiyang was unboxing packages, there had been a ten-jin bag of potting soil. He thought it was useless and left it by the reception desk.

She couldn’t let that go—it was key to upgrading her dimensional space.

By the time she finished running through the building, an hour had passed. She took a break on the 32nd floor.

Jiang Xingzhi had messaged her, saying he understood and telling her to be careful.

She drank from her thermos and ate some beef jerky to regain energy.

If time allowed, she would’ve loved to search again more thoroughly, but there just wasn’t enough time.

When she searched earlier, she had focused only on each company’s office areas. Some had safes, but they only contained documents—not worth the effort.

After a short rest, she rushed downstairs.

No choice—time was pressing. She wanted to check out Building D next door.

It was really close—about 50 meters away. Her kayak was small and didn’t have a motor, but she could make it in 10 minutes.

The water level had risen. When they arrived earlier, the 7th floor was dry. Now it was ankle-deep.

She pulled out a sledgehammer from her space and started smashing glass. It took a while to crack it.

Earlier, Song Yi had shattered glass with one blow—he really was strong. She’d need to start training too, same with Jiang Xingzhi, Qin Yue, and even Xiao Nuan. Everyone needed to get stronger.

To save time, she didn’t bother picking locks anymore.

She liked the simplicity of brute force.

The 7th floor had four companies: a photography studio, two accessory shops, and a travel voucher business.

She didn’t know that livestreaming had become so powerful—people could sell anything.

No time to search in detail.

Her goals were simple: anything for upgrading her space, any safes, and a pantry or kitchenette.

If she found any unopened packages, she’d toss them into her space to check later.

After reaching the 10th floor, she finally found a snack livestreaming office. Not as much as the 17th floor in the previous building, but still decent—especially the trendy drinks, which were in abundance.

Jiang Yuan couldn’t wait—she frantically shoved everything into her space.

It felt like a race against time—her arms moved mechanically, no longer even feeling like her own.

Good news came on the 13th floor—a massive livestreaming office for fur products.

Every piece was worth thousands, and the whole room was filled with inventory on racks.

Her hands itched with excitement. Not taking it would be a waste.

She gritted her teeth and started collecting.

Her space was running out of room. The furniture took up too much space.

But the courtyard in her dimension had a small vegetable patch—she could hang the fur coats on garment racks above it. The space under the racks would leave enough light for the vegetables to grow. Perfect.

Thankfully, she could choose where to place things by thought alone—no need to physically arrange them, which saved time.

This building’s offices were fancy too. One small safe was by a file cabinet. Jiang Yuan hit it twice but couldn’t open it.

Since it wasn’t too big, she tossed it into her space to open later.

While clearing out a desk, she found a set of keys. A weird idea crossed her mind.

She tried “8-8-8-8-8-8” and click—it opened. Guess the saying was true: shops often used 6-6-6-6-6-6 or 8-8-8-8-8-8 as safe codes.

This kind of small safe was familiar to them, so she quickly found the matching key and opened it in one go.

Inside were stacks of cash—bundles of it. Given the confetti and ribbons nearby, it was probably meant as a prize.

A lot of companies did this—cash bonuses were visually impactful.

Well, they never got the chance to hand it out. Lucky for her. Easily over 300,000 yuan in total.

No time to dwell—she quickly gathered it all.

She continued upwards and got more spoils.

Bosses always had some cash in drawers. One even had 100,000 yuan just lying there—unlocked.

Her legs were giving out, but she didn’t dare stop.

On the 23rd floor, she stumbled across a jewelry livestreaming office.

Pearls, serpentine jade, crystals, Tianshan ice jade, jadeite, agate, silverware, gemstones, and gold.

Some from internationally known brands.

In recent years, buying gold had become a trend in China, so livestreaming gold had become common.

Jiang Yuan was overjoyed—this was exactly what she needed.

Besides jewelry, there were gold bars, beads, and various golden trinkets.

Even though some of it was mixed with K-gold and other alloys, it was still worth it.

The offices for these jewelry sellers were also luxurious—she just couldn’t stop collecting.

When she looked at the time, it was already 4:30 AM. She quickened her pace.

They’d be back soon, and she couldn’t afford to waste a moment.

She hadn’t abandoned her kayak—it was still there. She dragged it out and paddled back toward Building C.

Upon reaching the 7th floor, she found the water had risen higher—and there was still a lot of stuff left.

She cursed herself for being careless.

Now things were soaking.

Thankfully, most were in woven nylon bags, so not much got ruined.

She dumped everything into her space, went up to the 10th floor, and stashed the items there.

Later, she’d just say she moved them up herself.
