Chapter 59: Figuring Out a Way to Make Money
“If it were food, people would definitely rush over, but clothes and such… I doubt many people really need them.
But, Sister Yuan, why do you want money? Cash doesn’t mean much anymore these days.”
“You might think it’s worthless, but I still want to save some—just in case it becomes useful again later.”
Jiang Yuan gave a casual excuse—one that made sense from an ordinary person’s perspective, nothing suspicious.
“I still have some cash left, not a lot, just a few hundred bucks. I’ll go get it for you.”
After Zhang Kaiyang said that, Ye Mianmian also seemed ready to offer support. Normally, they used mobile payments, but since their grandma didn’t, there was still some cash at home.
“No need, I appreciate the gesture. These things are just to avoid waste—it’s not necessary.”
Jiang Yuan politely declined their offer. In reality, that small amount of money wouldn’t do much anyway.
“The internet’s been bad lately. Otherwise, we could’ve posted a notice to get the whole community to come buy clothes—some would’ve sold for sure.”
“It’s fine. Just a few pieces. If they sell, great. If not, that’s fine too. No rush.”
Though she said that, Jiang Yuan was feeling troubled inside.
Turns out making money was getting harder and harder, and even she was running out of options.
She couldn’t exactly go rob a bank—she wasn’t that bold.
Besides, the bank’s security systems were probably even more advanced than her own setup.
Just the thought of it was unrealistic.
After chatting for a bit, everyone returned to their own homes.
Jiang Yuan didn’t put the clothes away either—the hallway was still safe.
Back inside, her parents didn’t ask much when they saw she was fine, and just went back to organizing things.
“By the way, Mom, Dad, I was thinking that since we’re not busy these couple days, you two should work on staying active. We can’t go outside, but the treadmill still works.”
“The weather’s so cold, I don’t really want to move at all—just want to stay wrapped in the blankets.”
“Mom, that won’t do. I think it’s only going to get colder. We need to improve our physical condition.
If things don’t clear up, we’ll eventually need to go out to find supplies once the rain stops…”
When Jiang Xingzhi heard her mention going out, he quickly chimed in, “Our daughter is right. We can’t get lazy now. If we keep our fitness up, we won’t be a burden later.”
“Okay, fine. We’ll go run later then, don’t worry.”
Actually, Jiang Xingzhi and Qin Yue had lived in the countryside for years, often working in the fields.
Even though they didn’t grow much, they kept active, and their health was still better than most people their age.
“I’ll train with you guys too—our whole family will get strong together.”
After giving her instructions, Jiang Yuan went to her room and locked the door.
She had way too much stuff inside her spatial storage and needed to organize it.
She’d already taken over three office buildings, and the amount of materials she gathered was more than three people could carry combined.
And this wasn’t even everything yet. If she did a thorough sweep, she might fill her entire space.
Now she could use her mind to scan the contents of her space and access any item by keying in a code—without using up the countdown time.
Once everything was sorted, she could just stash them back with her thoughts—how convenient!
Since Xiao Nuan wasn’t in the room, she could go all out. But she didn’t dare take out too much at once—it’d get messy and hard to manage.
At noon, someone knocked on the door.
“Sweetie, what are you doing? Come out and eat.”
“Coming! Just changing clothes!”
As she replied, she stashed away the storage boxes.
Inside, she had set up plenty of shelves. Most of the goods were stacked in another bedroom and along the walls of each room.
She tried to keep things visible and organized without blocking the furniture.
But after working for just a bit, she suddenly felt extremely tired.
When she stood up, she felt a bit unsteady.
Could it be that using her mental power too frequently was draining her physical strength?
Back when she was looting the office buildings, she was just tossing things around, and the time scale was longer—so this hadn’t been an issue before.
Lunch was simple: sweet and sour pork ribs, mushrooms with greens, and pickled radish she had made.
Balanced and hearty. Her parents wouldn’t touch the greens and kept piling them into Xiao Nuan’s bowl.
“Dad, Mom, you eat too. There’s plenty left.”
“Mom doesn’t like vegetables. You guys eat.”
“Yeah, it’s just plain greens—nothing special.”
Seeing her parents like this made Jiang Yuan feel a pang of guilt. She had tons of greens in her space—what reason could she use to bring more out?
“Eat up. It won’t taste as good if it gets cold…”
Jiang Yuan placed some greens into their bowls, but Qin Yue immediately took her bowl away.
“Mom, if you’re not eating, then I won’t eat either.”
Little Nuan, seeing this, also put down her chopsticks.
“If Grandma won’t eat, Nuan Nuan won’t either…”
“Aiyo, my sweet girl, you have to eat! Or you won’t be able to poop, and that’ll be so uncomfortable…”
“Hey now! We’re eating! Why would you bring that up?”
“I’m just being honest!”
Qin Yue rolled her eyes at Jiang Xingzhi, and Jiang Yuan quickly used the moment to sneak some more greens into her mom’s bowl.
“Dad, Mom, eat up. Don’t be stingy. If we don’t eat them, they’ll spoil.
Later, I’ll organize our supplies. Since we’re not busy these days, we should focus on that and keeping fit.”
“Alright, I’ll help you later.”
After a cozy lunch, everyone went for a short nap.
Jiang Yuan, of course, took Xiao Nuan with her. She sorted through more items and packed them into a woven bag.
Later, she planned to quietly bring more things out—more to sell, more money.
Some of it was food, but mostly small, inconspicuous snacks.
Even though she wanted money, she valued safety more.
At 4 p.m., Sun Yian and the others came back. Though they looked disheveled, they had managed to find some supplies.
“Jiang Yuan, here’s your inflatable boat—no damage at all. Please check it.”
She took it and handed it to Song Yi. At times like this, she couldn’t go out alone.
“We also found a few more boats and salvaged quite a bit of food from the water.
It doesn’t look great, but it’s still edible. Thanks again for your help.”
Hmm, finally something that sounded human.
“You’re welcome. Oh, by the way, Lawyer Sun, I still have a few fur coats left from before. Mink, mostly—really warm.
If anyone needs winter wear, they can come by and buy some.”
Sun Yian, slick as ever, immediately caught her meaning.
“Got it. I’ll help spread the word.”
“Thanks. Same rule as before—cash only. There’s not much left, so if anyone’s interested, tell them to hurry.”
“No problem!”
Helping her would also increase his own influence—he was more than happy to oblige.
