What Childhood Sweetheart? The Abstinent Powerholder Is Irresistibly Flirtatious Chapter 25

Chapter 25: You’re Done For

“Ahhhhh!!!!” Realizing she had just been slapped by Shen Chiyi, Shen Xi suddenly burst into a rage. “How dare you hit me?”

“Who the hell gave you the guts to lay a hand on me? I’m going to kill you!”

“Hmph!” This time, Shen Chiyi didn’t dodge like she had in the past. She could endure injustice done to herself, but not to Wen Jiu.

She lifted her chin and looked contemptuously at Shen Xi, who was trying to lunge at her but was stopped by the bodyguards Shen Chiyi had brought. “I’ll be waiting.”

“Chiyi-jie, can I trouble you to take a step to the side?” Wen Jiu’s voice suddenly cut into the argument. Shen Chiyi turned around and saw her holding up her phone, apparently recording something.

Noticing her actions, Shen Xi instinctively reached up to cover the necklace around her neck.

Wen Jiu gave her a harmless smile. “No need to cover it, miss. I already got it on video. And I got a clear shot of every one of your faces.”

With that, Wen Jiu lowered her head and sent the video to Wen Xingyu, just in case anyone tried to destroy her phone and erase the evidence. Then she lightly added:

“The valuable things in my room aren’t limited to that Queen’s Heart necklace worth 150 million. There are plenty of other items just as expensive.”

“If even one thing is missing, or something is damaged, can you afford to pay for it?”

Earlier, when she was outnumbered, Wen Jiu had played it as meekly as possible. But now… she walked straight past Shen Xi and entered her room.

Even though she had mentally prepared herself, Wen Jiu still felt a sharp pain in her chest when she saw her things scattered all over the floor. There were even shattered pieces of a jade bracelet.

That was a top-grade imperial green glass jadeite!

She resumed recording with her phone, her lips tightly pressed the whole time. Only when she confirmed that the bracelet was the only thing broken did her tense expression finally relax a little.

She looked at Shen Xi, who was being blocked at the door by Shen Chiyi’s people. “You’re finished.”

“Wen Jiu, was a lot of stuff damaged?” Shen Chiyi’s expression didn’t look good either. She had never imagined Shen Xi could be this stupid.

Wen Jiu sighed. “Quite a bit. A few hundred million, maybe.”

“What?!” Shen Chiyi exclaimed in shock.

Shen Xi also froze for a moment before shouting, “You’re talking nonsense! How could a mainlander like you possibly be carrying that many valuable items?!”

Though she said that, Shen Xi felt incredibly uneasy.

After all, the necklace she was wearing was supposedly worth 150 million—even if she still wasn’t entirely sure it was real.

Unfortunately for her, Wen Jiu didn’t even look at her this time. She simply turned and sat calmly on the sofa inside the room.

“When the police arrive, then you can shout at me all you want.”

“What do you mean? You called the police?!” Shen Xi tried to force her way into the room, but Shen Chiyi stopped her.

“Shen Chiyi, let go of me!” Shen Xi struggled hard, but Shen Chiyi didn’t budge. She simply gave her a cold warning:

“You’d better not do anything more stupid.”

“Heh…” Shen Xi touched her stinging, swollen cheek. “In Gangcheng, not just anyone can rely on calling the police.”

“Wen Jiu, I don’t care who you think you are. Even a dragon has to coil up when it comes to me.”

Shen Chiyi’s people outnumbered hers, but that didn’t mean Shen Xi was afraid.

“Oh.” Wen Jiu glanced at her, her expression calm as she gave a one-word reply.

It was like punching cotton—Shen Xi couldn’t have felt more stifled.

She wanted to say more, but Wen Jiu had already walked off to take a phone call, not giving her a chance to speak.

“Hello?”

Hearing her steady voice, Jiang Yanci—on the other end of the line—finally relaxed.

“The police are already on the way. I’ll be there soon. Don’t worry.”

Though his tone was calm, Wen Jiu could hear the unsteady breath behind it.

Lounging on the balcony chair, she felt that bottled-up frustration ease a little. So, she teased him.

“You’re that worried about me?”

Wen Jiu didn’t care how Jiang Yanci found out about the incident—just knowing he had rushed over after hearing the news was enough.

This, she owed him.

Seeing that she was still in the mood to joke, Jiang Yanci knew she was safe now.

Earlier, when he got the call from his people saying someone had reported the incident on Wen Jiu’s behalf, his heart nearly stopped. He immediately raced to the hotel.

Thank god he got through to her. Thank god she was okay.

Relieved, he said, “You’re my only VIP guest. If I don’t care about you, who would I care about?”

“Only me?” Wen Jiu repeated, asking.

Jiang Yanci fell silent for a moment, then answered firmly, “Yes. Only you.”

“And in the future?” she asked again.

Wen Jiu didn’t know why she asked—she was never someone who planned for the future.

But in that moment, she couldn’t help it.

Jiang Yanci stood at the entrance of the hotel, looked up at the tall building before him, and walked forward, his steps steady as he gave his answer.

“Only with you is there a reason to even imagine a future.”

“Wen Jiu, I’m here.”

“Then…” Wen Jiu smiled gently, stepping onto the balcony to gaze down at the crashing waves along the shore. She paused, then softly called out:

“I’m waiting for you, Jiang Yanci.”

“Shen Chiyi, why the hell are you helping her so much?!” At the door, Shen Xi yelled impatiently. Seeing Shen Chiyi unmoved, she lowered her voice and threatened:

“What good does blowing this up do for you? And helping an outsider like that—aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Dad?”

At those words, a flicker of emotion passed through Shen Chiyi’s cold eyes, but only for a moment.

She remained calm. “It’s not up to me how this ends anymore.”

“So what?!” Shen Xi was about to lose her mind over Shen Chiyi’s indifferent attitude. What she hated most was how detached she always was.

She took a deep breath. “Who gets to decide, then? That mainlander?”

Shen Chiyi glanced at her without responding.

Another punch into cotton—Shen Xi was practically choking.

She pulled out her phone and threatened, “I’m calling Dad right now.”

This was something Shen Chiyi used to fear most. But now… watching Shen Xi make the call, she felt nothing at all.

“Hello, Dad.” Shen Xi put on her most pitiful voice as soon as the call connected. “Big sister and a mainlander are bullying me.”

On the other end, Shen Huaisheng spoke coldly: “Put that disgrace on the phone.”

No questions asked. Just Shen Xi’s complaints were enough for him to decide it was Shen Chiyi’s fault.

Hearing this, Shen Xi gave Shen Chiyi a smug smile. “Dad wants to talk to you.”

She put the phone on speaker and handed it over.

Shen Chiyi looked down at the phone, her heart swelling with a sour ache. She had long accepted she was the one who’d been abandoned, but each time she was hurt again, it still stung.

She hesitated, about to lift her hand to take the phone—when a fair hand reached over and took it for her.

“Hello, who is this?”

Hearing a stranger’s voice, Shen Huaisheng frowned and snapped, “Put Shen Chiyi on.”

“No,” Wen Jiu refused coolly.

The door was still open, and though she wasn’t outside, she had heard most of what Shen Xi said to threaten Shen Chiyi.
