Lin Ruzhen quickly stepped forward, raising her voice: “Chief! Don’t be fooled by this woman! She’s just pretending! She’s putting on this innocent, pitiful, and fragile act in front of you all to lower your guard so she can achieve her real goals. When I ran into her, she was sharp-tongued and eloquent. She even slapped me twice downstairs. Look, the marks are still on my face!”
Lin Ruzhen lifted her hair to show her face to the crowd.
Zuo Xincheng, who had been silent and focused on watching the drama, stepped forward with great interest. His eyes darted back and forth between the left and right sides of the woman’s face.
Lin Ruzhen tilted her face up: “See? It’s still red!”
Zuo Xincheng frowned, thought for a moment, and said, “That’s clearly a sunburn.”
“No! She hit me!”
Lin Ruzhen stomped her foot in frustration!
Zuo Xincheng crossed his arms and leaned back against the doorway: “Since it’s everyone’s first time meeting, my sister-in-law wouldn’t hit you for no reason. There must be some explanation, right?”
Lin Ruzhen trembled with anger, pointing at the man and scolding: “Zuo Xincheng! How could you take her side too? ‘Sister-in-law’ this, ‘sister-in-law’ that—you’ve all fallen for her tricks! A woman who appeared out of nowhere claims to be Shen Zhanwu’s wife, and none of you find that suspicious?”
Ruan Qingzhi suddenly called out to her: “Dr. Lin.”
Lin Ruzhen paused, then turned to glare at her with a cold smirk: “Ruan Qingzhi! I was just about to ask you—what kind of spell have you cast to make them all listen to you? Huh?”
She took a deep breath and sneered: “I’m a soldier. You slapped me twice and tied me to the door, but I won’t hold that against you, fine. But right now, what I want to talk about isn’t that—it’s about you abducting a child!”
“With witnesses, evidence, and the police all here, what else can you possibly say to defend yourself?”
Lin Ruzhen planted her hands on her hips, her face full of disdain: “Ruan Qingzhi, just admit it. If you confess and show remorse, I can persuade the officers to treat it as a voluntary surrender and go easy on you.”
Shen Zhanwu’s dark eyes narrowed.
It was time to settle the score with Lin Ruzhen for losing the child!
But before the man could speak, Ruan Qingzhi walked around the coffee table and approached—
“So, you were the one who left the child downstairs?”
“Ruan Qingzhi, watch your words. How can you call that ‘leaving’ him? Look at other people’s children—aren’t they all running around outside? He didn’t want to come upstairs, he wanted to play in the lobby. I was just accommodating him. Was I wrong? He doesn’t even have legs, how could he possibly run—”
Ruan Qingzhi suddenly lunged forward.
Her head slammed straight into Lin Ruzhen’s stomach.
The scene instantly descended into chaos.
Shen Zhanwu, worried that Lin Ruzhen might retaliate, quickly pulled Ruan Qingzhi behind him.
Even Guan Zhenbang, who had seen his fair share of storms, shot up from his chair.
The two police officers were utterly bewildered.
They looked left and right—who the hell were they supposed to arrest now?
Everything was a mess!
Ruan Qingzhi stood behind the man, smoothing her slightly disheveled hair. She blinked, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.
Shen Zhanwu heard her quiet sobs and froze, then turned to look.
When he turned, he saw the girl crying so hard she could barely catch her breath. Her porcelain-like eyelids were now tinged pink, her nose slightly red. She bit her lip hard, trying desperately to hold back her sobs.
Her cheeks were streaked with tears.
Shen Zhanwu panicked completely.
He had never felt this flustered, even on the battlefield…
After fumbling for a moment, he pressed his lips together and asked in the gentlest yet most nervous voice: “Are you hurt somewhere?”
Ruan Qingzhi looked up at him, sniffling: “My head hurts…”
Shen Zhanwu immediately began gently stroking her hair.
The girl wiped the tears from her cheeks and whimpered: “This shoulder hurts too…”
That’s right…
This was the shoulder Lin Ruzhen had shoved, causing her to hit the door.
Shen Zhanwu’s hand moved to massage her shoulder.
His touch was feather-light.
Afraid of hurting her further.
Ruan Qingzhi wept like a delicate flower drenched in rain: “This was my first time fighting someone… I’m so scared… Look, my hands are still shaking…”

Hey everyone! I hope you're enjoying what I'm translating.
