“Divine Doctor Military Wife: Married the Wildest Officer and Had Babies” Chapter 29

Chapter 29 – Nervous!

An elderly woman with graying hair was seen clutching her chest in pain.

Ning Wanwan quickly had her sit down. Judging by her experience, the woman was likely having an angina attack.

“Auntie, are you feeling chest pain right now? Anywhere else uncomfortable? Tell me all your symptoms.”

Before the elderly woman could speak, the anxious old man beside her jumped in.

“Doctor Ning, my wife has been saying she feels tightness in her chest for half a year now. Lately, it turned into actual pain. Today it got so bad she couldn’t take it anymore, so we came to you.”

Ning Wanwan nodded. The symptoms added up.

She placed her slender fingers lightly on the woman’s wrist, and as expected, it was indeed angina.

Turning to Xu Cuihua, she said, “Sister-in-law, help me bring the silver needle kit from inside.”

“Auntie, this condition is called angina. I’ll do some acupuncture to relieve the pain first, and then I’ll give you a prescription. Take the medicine home and use it for gradual recovery.”

The elderly woman nodded gratefully. “Thank you, Doctor Ning, thank you.”

An hour later, after the acupuncture session, her complexion finally improved, and a faint smile appeared on her face.

The old man beside her was still watching nervously, asking anxiously, “Wife, how do you feel now? Any better?”

The elderly woman nodded firmly and let out a long breath.

Smiling, she said, “Much better! The pain is gone. Just now, it felt like my chest was tight and aching, and I could only take shallow breaths. But now I feel perfectly fine. Doctor Ning, your skills are truly miraculous!”

“Auntie, you flatter me.”

Ning Wanwan also smiled with relief, then picked up a pen, wrote the prescription, and handed it to the elderly couple.

“Auntie, take this medicine twice a day for seven days. After that, come back for a follow-up.”

After sending the elderly couple off, Ning Wanwan tiredly rubbed her temples. Seeing that it was already 11 o’clock, she moved her wheelchair toward the kitchen.

“Sister-in-law, let’s make dumplings later.”

She bent down to take out the pork and cabbage she had prepared earlier from the cabinet—planning to make pork and cabbage dumplings.

She had used up all the vegetables in her space; this cabbage and pork were the last of her stock. Other than dumplings, she couldn’t think of anything else to make.

She still had to go out and buy groceries in the afternoon. Just thinking about traveling that far made her face droop like she had swallowed bitter herbs.

If she could walk by herself, it would be fine—but sitting in a wheelchair like a burden made her extremely annoyed.

She looked down at her legs. With the increasing effect of the spiritual spring water, she could feel her strength returning more and more.

Xu Cuihua was quick and capable, taking over all the chopping and stuffing. Ning Wanwan handled the seasoning. Once the dough was ready, the two began wrapping dumplings.

By the time He Yunshen returned, the dumplings were already boiling in the pot. Ning Wanwan was struggling to carry a bowl and chopsticks back to the room.

With one long reach, the man took the bowl and chopsticks from her hands and brought them inside, then returned to push her wheelchair to the dining table.

He Yunshen’s eyes fell on her pale but delicate face. “Why were you scolded this morning?”

Ning Wanwan raised an eyebrow with a hint of teasing in her eyes. Puffing her cheeks, she said, “He Yunshen, are you asking knowingly? Don’t think I didn’t see you watching the drama from outside the yard this morning.”

It was his own fault for being so tall—standing among the military wives made him stand out like a crane among chickens. It was hard not to notice him.

He Yunshen looked a little awkward at being caught. Luckily, Xu Cuihua walked in just then with two big plates of dumplings, saving him from further embarrassment.

“Wanwan, your cooking is amazing! These dumplings smell so good. You and Captain He eat up. I’ve saved my portion—I’m going out to eat in the courtyard, it’s cooler there.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Xu Cuihua zipped right out.

“Sister-in-law… sis—”

Ning Wanwan called out in protest, but Xu Cuihua didn’t respond at all, already sitting down at the stone table in the yard.

Because of their recent accidental intimacy, Ning Wanwan didn’t want to be alone with this “dog man” He Yunshen at all.

But Xu Cuihua, afraid of playing third wheel, had run off faster than a rabbit.

He Yunshen’s lips curved slightly, but he maintained his usual composed demeanor.

Ning Wanwan: What the hell are you smiling about…

They ate quietly. But Ning Wanwan kept sensing the faint scent of a sachet lingering nearby—even though her sachet had gone missing days ago.

That scent only seemed to appear when He Yunshen was near her. A bold thought formed in her mind as her gaze slowly drifted toward the bulging chest pocket of his shirt.

He Yunshen, oblivious, continued eating dumplings and praising them between bites. “These dumplings are amazing. Wanwan, you’re so good at cooking.”

Ning Wanwan, distracted, ate mechanically while trying to figure out how to expose the ugly truth of this house thief. She didn’t even notice that he had started calling her Wanwan.

Her little face wrinkled in frustration. After pondering for a while and coming up with nothing clever, she decided to just go for it.

“He Yunshen, what’s in your chest pocket? Can I see?”

He Yunshen shifted his body slightly, obviously guilty, and replied calmly, “Nothing, just my car keys. No need to look.”

Ning Wanwan snorted. Her clear eyes locked onto the side of his face.

“I lost a mosquito-repellent sachet a few days ago at home. Funny how the shape in your pocket looks just like it.”

“Wanwan, are you accusing me?”

“Yes. I am accusing you.”

“Think whatever you want. It’s just the car keys…”

Ning Wanwan was fuming at his shameless denial. Her eyes blazed as she glared at his handsome face.

“He Yunshen, you won’t admit it? Then I’m going to expose you today!”

With that, she reached out toward his shirt pocket.

He Yunshen quickly put down his chopsticks and began trying to fend off her prying fingers in a panic.

The two of them got closer and closer, until Ning Wanwan was practically at the edge of her wheelchair.

“Let me see!”

“No, it’s just the car keys!”

“Then why are your ‘car keys’ soft?”

Just as He Yunshen was at a loss for words, Ning Wanwan let out a sudden “Ah!”—the wheelchair toppled over with a loud clang!

She fell into He Yunshen’s arms, and he caught her securely.

Hearing the commotion, Xu Cuihua rushed back inside—only to immediately retreat again at the scene before her.

Oh my, this young couple really is affectionate. They can’t even eat peacefully…

They were talking about divorce just a few days ago, but who divorces like this?

Even while in his arms, Ning Wanwan didn’t give up. She reached into his shirt pocket and triumphantly pulled out her missing sachet.
