Chapter 93: The Perfect Space is Successfully Created
The man was still basking in the joy of exchanging money for food. The bag was heavy, so it must contain a lot.
Even though he spent a fortune, only when he was nearly starving did he truly understand what mattered most.
Forget money—he would have been willing to offer even more.
“You’ve got the goods. You know what to do, right?”
The man froze for a second, then immediately assured her, “Don’t worry. I won’t say a word.”
Smart enough to read the room.
“You know the situation in our building—most people have nothing to eat. You’re not one of them anymore.”
This was an open threat, and the man wasn’t stupid—he understood immediately.
Jiang Yuan had supplies, and now so did he, making them both potential targets.
If word got out, neither of them would be safe.
Moreover, she had combat power and allies. He only had his family.
“Don’t worry. I know how to handle it.”
“Good. And just so we’re clear—this was a one-time deal. Don’t ask again in the future. Otherwise, we all end up in an ugly situation.”
Her meaning was very clear: no second chances.
“Also, don’t bother your neighbor again. None of us are to be messed with—you know that.”
Of course he did. If she could kill without hesitation, she wasn’t someone to provoke—this woman was a she-devil.
“I understand. Thank you for the supplies. From now on, we don’t know each other, and I won’t say a word. When the weather clears up, we’ll go find resources on our own.”
With that, the man hurried off.
Jiang Yuan knew exactly the type he was. Help him once, and you’re a savior. Help him again, and you’re one step away from becoming enemies.
Also, Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian lived way too close to that man’s family.
This was her way of buying them a bit more safety. Still, she couldn’t afford to let her guard down.
She made a mental note to give them a few warnings—any potential threat had to be eliminated before it grew.
Back home, Qin Yue was waiting.
“Sweetheart, go rest. There’s hot water on the table. I’ll cook you some dumplings—eat and then get some sleep.”
“Okay, Mom. Where’s Xiao Nuan?”
“Mommy!” The little one came running at the sound of her voice—she had been watching cartoons in the room.
Jiang Yuan picked up her daughter and smothered her in kisses, thrilled to be home.
Qin Yue moved quickly and made sour soup dumplings. The hot food and drink warmed Jiang Yuan from the inside out.
“Mom, I’m going to nap in a bit. Can you keep an eye on the window? Dad and the others should be back by now. It’s strange there’s still no sign of them.”
“Sure, leave it to me,” her mother replied.
Truthfully, Qin Yue wanted to ask why they weren’t back yet, but she held it in, not wanting her daughter to worry.
Jiang Yuan could see right through her and tried to lighten the mood.
“The roads outside are a mess—easy to get lost. Don’t worry, Mom. Dad and the others coming back late is normal. We’re never back early when we go out either.”
“Relax. If you look worried when Dad gets home, he’ll feel bad.”
Qin Yue gave her a look. “You cheeky girl, now you’re teasing your own mother.”
“I know. I’m just uneasy. Now go eat and rest.”
After working intensely through the night, Jiang Yuan was exhausted. She finished the last sip of soup and obediently went to bed. Qin Yue filled two hot water bottles—one at her feet, one in her hands—for extra warmth.
Once the door closed, Jiang Yuan quietly got up, tiptoed to the bathroom, locked the door, and slipped into her space.
Inside the space, things were abundant—but not chaotic.
She had grouped furniture in one area, and other items were organized by type.
Now the space was 3,000 square meters—plenty of room.
The first thing she did was exchange all the cash in the space.
She had just received a million, plus what she had gathered before. That added over 200 hours.
Now the space had a total of 1,910 hours, 37 minutes, and 49 seconds.
Jiang Yuan was very satisfied—she needed as much time as possible.
There weren’t many supplies left in the space. She didn’t know if the next upgrade would be 1,000 times more or 10,000 times—but for now, she was content.
The area was large enough for living, growing vegetables, even grains.
She had a lot of materials for upgrades and decided to use them all.
Eventually, she ran short on “gold.”
Still, she had already achieved a lot.
The original main house remained, but now there were a basement and a second floor.
Both had the same area as the ground floor. The basement was entirely for storing supplies—fitted with shelves exchanged from the space system.
On the first floor, only the original main room was kept. The rest of the bedrooms weren’t needed.
The second floor would become a future refuge and living space.
All the furniture was newly exchanged—items that used to be expensive were now finally useful.
She also exchanged a string of connected rooms along both the east and west sides, styled like traditional side wings (廂房).
The space was about 70 meters long and 30 meters wide.
Besides the main house in the center, there was still plenty of room on both sides.
The backyard was small but preserved in its original state.
This layout gave her ten rooms on each side wing.
The rest of the space formed covered walkways, giving a traditional courtyard feel.
She also left room for four garages.
The courtyard itself was very large, with two intersecting cobblestone paths in a cross shape.
In the southeast corner, she placed a pavilion, where she could later store tools for farming.
Now with so many rooms, she could separate everything properly.
Clothes, food, oils, and other supplies could be neatly organized and easy to access.
Jiang Yuan also wanted to grow more vegetables, but she was just too tired. Her eyelids were drooping.
She had no choice but to exit the space for now.
Peeking out the window, the skies were gray—the wind and rain had lessened significantly—but still, no one had returned downstairs. It was silent.
She got back into bed and quickly drifted off.
There was still more sorting to do later—she couldn’t waste time.
Completely exhausted, she fell into a deep sleep within minutes.
Meanwhile, Qin Yue remained by the window, watching.
But still, no one came back.
As the sky began to darken, she could no longer hold her anxiety.
Jiang Yuan had slept through lunch. It was already after 3 p.m. when she finally stirred.
Worried, she threw on a jacket and left the room.
“Mom, they’re still not back?”
“No, sweetheart. Do you think something happened? It’s this late already… They should’ve been back a long time ago…”
