Chapter 105 – Seeking Justice
Jiang Yuan brought a wooden plank from home — the ground was simply too filthy to step on directly.
She placed the plank down to avoid dirtying her shoes.
“Yuan-jie, you know who did this? Don’t tell me it was that old woman from the 15th floor,” Zhang Kaiyang asked angrily.
“It was her. Guaranteed,” Jiang Yuan replied firmly.
Zhang Kaiyang’s face twisted in fury. “She came up yesterday making a scene. I didn’t see you open the door, so I didn’t either. Who knew she’d be this disgusting? How long must she have been planning this?!”
His family might be large, but to do something like this — that was a whole new level of disgusting.
Jiang Yuan was genuinely infuriated. She told them to wait a moment and returned to her apartment.
She wanted to confirm it properly — the surveillance footage was crystal clear. She pulled out her phone and recorded the relevant clip from around 3 a.m.
Perfect. You wanted to disgust me? Let’s see who’s better at being disgusting.
She came back out holding a Tang sword and a large axe — an intimidating sight, completely different from her usual calm demeanor.
Song Yi and the others were already waiting by the door, armed with weapons as well.
Their intentions were obvious.
“This is a personal matter. You guys don’t need to get involved. No need to get dragged into the mess,” she said.
Ye Mianmian was the first to speak up: “Yuan-jie, we’re a team. We share blessings and endure hardships together.”
“Exactly! That old woman has gone too far. Someone needs to put her in her place.”
“They’re right. This affects all of our lives. Let’s go get an explanation.”
Everyone’s support warmed Jiang Yuan’s heart just a little.
Seems that even in the apocalypse, there’s still some genuine camaraderie left.
She asked Qin Yue to take Xiao Nuan back inside. Jiang Xing also followed along.
When they arrived at apartment 1501, the door was tightly shut.
Without hesitation, Jiang Xing kicked it hard. This family was causing them trouble — he wasn’t about to stand back.
“Open the door! Hurry up and get your breathing bodies out here!” he roared.
Wow, which movie did this old man walk out of? Must’ve watched a lot of old Hong Kong films.
They shouted for five minutes, but there was no response. Jiang Xing grew irritated.
“If you don’t open this door, I’m breaking it down!”
Still no response.
The group exchanged looks. Zhang Kaiyang took the axe from Jiang Yuan’s hands.
“Uncle, take a break. Let me do it.”
BANG BANG BANG — the axe slammed into the door, echoing loudly in the corridor. He didn’t hold back, and dents appeared immediately.
“What are you doing?! Are you trying to die?!” the old woman suddenly opened the door. Zhang Kaiyang almost couldn’t stop the momentum.
The old lady came out cursing, but when she saw the group — especially Jiang Yuan — she immediately launched into her performance.
“Oh, great! You beat me up and won’t compensate me, and now you’re smashing my door? What kind of logic is that?
You shameless little b—how dare you—”
SMACK!
Before she could finish, she got slapped.
Jiang Yuan looked at Song Yi, expression slightly stunned — this guy actually hit her?
Well, the old woman was being disgusting — practically spitting in her face.
“You dare hit me?!” the old woman shrieked in disbelief.
This act had always worked for her — she’d ruled the whole complex with it, never failing.
“Not just hit. I’ll kick too,” Jiang Xing growled and kicked her square in the stomach.
He had been holding back earlier. If Song Yi hadn’t been faster, his slap would’ve landed too.
“OWWW!”
The old woman was caught off guard and toppled to the ground.
Facing a group of angry people, even she started to get scared.
But her mouth? Still stubborn.
“Ohhh my son! Your mother’s being beaten to death, and you’re just going to let it happen?!”
And just like that, she was back to wailing like she was at a funeral.
To everyone’s complete lack of surprise, a man came out from the apartment — a familiar face.
He was part of the group caught in the footage last night.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?! You’re going too far! You’ve come right to our door — believe me, I’ll chop you all down!”
He had a kitchen knife in hand, waving it at Jiang Yuan’s group.
“You old hag — you know what you did,” Jiang Xing snarled. “I’m telling you, you’d better clean up that mess upstairs, or none of you will get off easy.”
Being splattered with paint and feces — it was the ultimate humiliation.
“What mess? Why should we clean it up?” the man shot back.
“Oh, you want to play dumb?” Jiang Yuan snorted coldly.
“You think we’re easy targets? We know it was you.”
The old woman suddenly jumped up, abandoning the frail act completely.
“You’re spewing nonsense! I’m telling you, you better pay for damages! And the door — you’re all responsible!”
As she ranted, more people came out to watch.
Unlike the 21st floor, residents here weren’t all timid. Some dared to poke their heads out.
What no one expected was that Sun Yian showed up too — with four or five people behind him.
“Building Leader Sun, you came just in time! You have to stand up for me!
They hurt me before, and now they’re wrecking my home. Are they trying to kill this old lady?!”
Sun Yian frowned. He couldn’t just ignore this now that he was here.
“Stop crying. What’s going on exactly?” he said flatly.
Just as the old woman was about to start wailing again, he cut her off, pointing at her son.
“You explain.”
“Leader Sun, the people from the 21st floor are out of control! They beat my mom, and now they’re here wrecking our door! Look at it! This is outrageous!”
“Jiang Yuan, your response?” Sun Yian asked.
If he was giving her the chance to speak, then she would explain clearly.
“First of all, the person who hit her is from Building 9. Nothing to do with me.”
“Bullshit! You incited them! Who else would dare?!”
The old woman shouted, full of energy — more energetic than most young folks. And she claimed to be injured? What a joke.
“Quiet. Did I say you could talk?” Sun Yian snapped, annoyed.
He’d spent days currying favor with people in the building. Even the old lady didn’t dare go too far.
“Go on,” he gestured to Jiang Yuan.
“Yesterday, she came to my door and wailed. A lot of people must’ve heard it. I ignored her.
This morning, when I went out, I saw the hallway had been splattered with paint and feces.
Today, I demand justice.”
Sun Yian’s brows knitted. That was low — disgustingly so.
“Did you do it?” he asked the old woman’s son.
He quickly shook his head. “They’re framing us! They’re just trying to pick a fight! Leader Sun, throw them out of Building 13!”
Wow — bold.
Jiang Yuan rolled her eyes, clearly fed up. Her expression darkened.
“I’m warning you — confess now and clean up the mess, and I’ll let it go.
But if you keep being stubborn, don’t blame me for what happens next.”
“Hah! You little tramp—what evidence do you even have? If you can’t prove it, I’ll sue you for slander!”
