Chapter 9: I can cure Aunt Chu’s leg

Yu Jingchuan arrived at the hospital almost the moment he hung up the phone.

Xia Zhuxin rushed to greet him as soon as she saw him.

“Jingchuan, you’re finally here!”

Yu Jingchuan didn’t bother greeting her, instead turning to Chu Peilan, asking worriedly, “Mom, how are you feeling now?”

“I’m fine.  It’s really not necessary to make such a fuss. My legs feel much better. Yitang’s acupuncture is effective, and I believe she wouldn’t do anything reckless.”

Chu Peilan trusted Lin Yitang. After all, since Lin Yitang’s acupuncture, the pain in her legs had lessened considerably.

But Yu Jingchuan didn’t believe it. His eyes darkened as he looked at Lin Yitang, his gaze filled with anger.

“Lin Yitang, if anything happens to my mother, I won’t let you off!”

Xia Zhuxin sighed and softly comforted Yu Jingchuan, “Jingchuan, don’t worry. My teacher happens to be in Beijing right now. I’ll take you to see him first.

No matter how serious Aunt Chu’s leg injury is, he’ll definitely find a way!”

“Zhuxin, thank you.”

Yu Jingchuan withdrew his icy gaze, pushed Chu Peilan’s wheelchair, and followed Xia Zhuxin to her teacher’s office.

Lin Yitang followed as well. She could clearly see through Xia Zhuxin’s intentions, but the bigger the commotion, the better.

She wanted to see who would ultimately lose face!

Xia Zhuxin’s teacher, Wang Lijun, was the vice president of the military hospital, and his medical skills were beyond question.

Xia Zhuxin was able to stay at the military hospital as a doctor thanks to Professor Wang Lijun.

Wang Lijun had just returned from a business trip in another province and was sitting at his desk reviewing patient files.

Seeing his student rushing in, followed by Yu Jingchuan and Chu Peilan, he immediately stood up.

“Zhuxin, what’s wrong? Is Commander Chu’s leg hurting again?”

Wang Lijun knew about Chu Peilan’s chronic condition. He knew some massage techniques, but they didn’t provide much relief.

“Teacher, please check Aunt Chu’s leg! Her leg was treated with improper acupuncture, and her leg nerves may have signs of damage or necrosis!”

“What?”

Wang Lijun’s expression immediately turned serious.

He quickly went to Chu Peilan, examining her while scolding, “Who was so careless? Commander Chu’s leg injury is very serious.

The leg nerves are intricate and can’t be treated with random acupuncture!”

Xia Zhuxin forcibly suppressed the upturn of her lips and looked at Lin Yitang.

“Lin Yitang, even if you’re being reckless, there should be a limit. Even if you meant well, Aunt Chu’s leg was already seriously injured and couldn’t withstand any more trouble. You really shouldn’t have done that!”

Lin Yitang’s expression was calm, her eyes devoid of any panic or fear, instead remaining composed.

Xia Zhuxin couldn’t help but snort inwardly. Lin Yitang was putting on a good act, but unfortunately, with her around, she would make Lin Yitang leave the Yu family in disgrace!

“Huh?”

Wang Lijun let out a surprised sound.

Xia Zhuxin quickly asked, “Teacher, what’s wrong? How is Aunt Chu’s leg now?”

Her face showed unconcealed worry, but also hidden excitement and glee.

But the next second, what came out of Wang Lijun’s mouth stunned her.

“Commander Chu’s legs seem to have recovered somewhat. The condition is better than before.”

Wang Lijun also found it unbelievable and began to ask Chu Peilan in detail, “Commander Chu, have your legs been hurting recently?”

“They hurt a few times, but after Yitang’s acupuncture, the pain wasn’t as bad, and the frequency of pain has decreased.”

Since her leg injury, this period had been the most comfortable for Chu Peilan. She hadn’t even been woken up by the pain at night.

Wang Lijun couldn’t help but look at Lin Yitang. He couldn’t believe that such a young girl would know acupuncture.

Xia Zhuxin shook her head beside her, “No! That’s impossible! Teacher, did you make a mistake?  Aunt Chu not feeling pain could also mean leg nerve necrosis. Please check again!”

Hearing this, Chu Peilan’s face fell.

Was Xia Zhuxin hoping her leg injury was very serious?

Xia Zhuxin belatedly realized she had said the wrong thing and quickly explained, “Aunt Chu, I didn’t mean that. I’m just very worried about you.”

Yu Jingchuan asked Wang Lijun, “Director Wang, is my mother’s leg injury really improving?  Is there a chance for recovery?”

Wang Lijun glared at his student before saying cautiously, “After my examination, Commander Chu’s leg injury has indeed improved, and the nerves are recovering.

However, I can’t give a definite conclusion on the extent of recovery. I’m not skilled in acupuncture. I think we should ask Comrade Lin Yitang.”

Wang Lijun was also curious about how Lin Yitang possessed such excellent acupuncture skills.

Under the gaze of everyone, Lin Yitang slowly said, “I can cure Aunt Chu’s leg, but it will take at least three months.”

Really curable?

Yu Jingchuan looked at Lin Yitang with excitement, seeming to want to ask more, but Lin Yitang didn’t give him a glance.

Remembering his earlier accusations, he felt a pang of guilt and swallowed his words.

“Impossible! Lin Yitang, how could you be so skilled?”

Xia Zhuxin still refused to believe it.

Lin Yitang looked at her coldly, a sarcastic smile on her face, “Don’t use your ignorance to judge me. You misunderstood me and slandered me.

Shouldn’t you apologize?”

Xia Zhuxin bit her lip, her face showing humiliation and anger.

“Zhuxin, you should apologize!”

Wang Lijun’s stern voice rang out, Xia Zhuxin’s face turning pale.

Her teacher was clearly displeased with her.  No matter how unwilling she was, she could only grit her teeth and apologize to Lin Yitang.

“Twice is enough. Xia Zhuxin, you’ve slandered me twice. If there’s a next time, I won’t let you off so easily.

Also, when are you going to pay me back the money you owe me?”

Lin Yitang took out an IOU from her pocket and handed it to Xia Zhuxin.

Xia Zhuxin’s face was livid, her eyes filled with almost overflowing resentment. She wanted to tear Lin Yitang’s face apart, but with everyone watching, she could only swallow her anger.

“I’ll pay you back now!”

Xia Zhuxin gritted her teeth, took out her salary for the month from her pocket, along with her savings, barely making up one hundred yuan.

Lin Yitang took it and counted it carefully, nodding with satisfaction before returning the IOU to Xia Zhuxin.

As Lin Yitang turned to leave, Wang Lijun quickly called out to her.

“Wait! Comrade Lin Yitang, your acupuncture is so amazing. Would you be willing to work at our hospital? We can discuss the benefits and treatment.”

Lin Yitang stopped, looking at Wang Lijun in surprise.
