The high school department of the military school was bustling today.
The playground was filled with people, but even with the large crowd, everyone sat neatly in rows.
Ning Shu and other parents stood outside the school fence.
Even from outside, they could see what was happening inside.
However, with so many people from the four departments, Ning Shu couldn’t find where his three children were.
This atmosphere made Ning Shu feel a long-lost sensation, as if he had returned to his school days.
Bark, bark, bark…
After circling around Ning Shu a few times, Da Mao and Tie Dan went to find their own spots.
Poor Da Mao and Tie Dan, they were left outside the high school department again.
However, they were quite clever; as if they had magical abilities, the wooden fence couldn’t stop them.
They stuck their heads into the fence, leaving their bodies and butts outside.
Quite human-like.
Ning Shu watched, feeling the urge to give them a kick.
After all the students were seated, the singing stopped, and a comrade in military uniform walked onto the stage.
She had neat short hair, looking very heroic.
“Comrades, teachers, students, and laborers, I am Jiang Minjuan, the host of this year’s May Day celebration at the military school. Good morning, everyone.
As we all know, May Day is our Labor Day. Labor is glorious, and glorious is labor.
So, may I ask the students here, do you usually engage in labor?”
“My child at home never does labor.”
“My mom doesn’t let me do labor.”
“My mom says boys are precious and don’t need to work.”
“My grandma also says labor is for girls.”
The host chuckled and continued, “With so many of you, each speaking one by one, I can’t hear what you’re saying. Let’s do this: I’ll call two students from each department to hear what they have to say.
Please come up, Lin Haizhi and Lin Hairui from the elementary department.”
Upon hearing their names called, the two treasures tensed up.
Teacher Jiang was already beside them. Upon hearing their names called, she said to them, “Lin Haizhi, Lin Hairui, go up. Don’t be afraid. The teacher will be watching your little brother below. Just say what we discussed earlier.”
Erbao said, “Teacher, I’m not scared.”
Yibao pursed his lips.
Compared to Erbao’s carefree attitude, he was a bit nervous.
But he was the older brother; if his little brother wasn’t scared, he couldn’t be either. “Teacher, I’m not scared either.”
Teacher Jiang patted their little shoulders. “Then go on.”
“Go on, I’m here cheering for you,” Teacher Jiang encouraged.
“Okay.” Yibao nodded, then said to Sanbao, “Sanbao, big brother is going up there. You sit here and wait for big brother obediently. Listen to the teacher and when big brother comes back, I’ll give you candy.”
“Okay.” Sanbao crisply replied.
Hearing Sanbao’s agreement, Yibao felt relieved.
Holding hands with Erbao, they walked onto the stage.
On the stage, students from the high school, middle school, and elementary departments were already waiting.
At this moment, everyone in the school, even those outside watching, was waiting for Yibao and Erbao to take the stage.
When Yibao and Erbao appeared in everyone’s sight, they couldn’t help but look.
The two little boys in camouflage uniforms, carrying liberation bags, were too eye-catching.
Yibao led Erbao with a serious face to the front of the host, then spoke, “Auntie, hello,” politely addressing her.
Following Yibao’s lead, Erbao also greeted, “Auntie, hello.”
The host was taken aback.
All four department students came up, but only the youngest from the childcare department called her auntie, and so politely too.
It truly surprised her.
This contrast was particularly evident.
The childcare students were only five or six years old, yet they were more thoughtful than the high school students, showing the influence of their family education.
It wasn’t just the host who felt this way; other teachers in the school did too.
Teacher Jiang felt proud.
These were her students!
“Hello, are you twins? Are you afraid to be here?” the host asked with a smile.
Yibao shook his head, “Not afraid. My mom said that the soldiers living here are heroes who fight bad guys. Bad guys dare not come here, so we’re not afraid.”
“Yeah, we’re not afraid. We also have Da Mao and Tie Dan. They are heroes too. They’re waiting for us at the gate. They’re heroes who protect our home and country and can fight bad guys.”
The scene was quiet at this moment, so Yibao and Erbao’s voices were clear to everyone.
The host looked at them, her smile even brighter.
She was an artist soldier, but she was also a soldier at heart, with the responsibility and pride of a soldier.
Listening to the two children’s recognition and praise of the soldiers, she felt proud too. “Who are Da Mao and Tie Dan? Are they soldiers you know?”
The host didn’t expect these to be military dogs, because many people in that era named their pets like this.
“No.” Yibao shook his head.
“They are the dogs we adopted, but they are military dogs. My mom said they have also fought bad guys and protected the country, they are heroes,” Erbao said, his eyes glancing outside the school.
Suddenly, he exclaimed, “Auntie, look, Da Mao and Tie Dan are outside, they stuck their heads in.” As he spoke, he pointed outside with his little finger.
Scared?
Not at all.
And with Erbao’s words and actions, everyone looked over.
In an instant, Da Mao and Tie Dan, with their heads squeezed through the fence and their butts facing outward, attracted everyone’s attention.
It seemed like Da Mao and Tie Dan felt the gaze of Yibao and Erbao on the stage, and they started barking too.
Woof, woof, woof…
Ning Shu was worried that Da Mao and Tie Dan barking would disturb everyone, so she approached and patted their backsides.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the modern era; otherwise, with Da Mao and Tie Dan’s performance at that moment, once the video was uploaded, they would surely become internet-famous dogs.
After being patted on the backside by Ning Shu, Da Mao and Tie Da stopped barking.
However, they didn’t look at the person patting them, just wagged their tails, seemingly recognizing their female owner.
Host: “Thank you to the two little kids for introducing us to Da Mao and Tie Dan. As they said, Da Mao and Tie Dan are heroes, just like every person who protects our home and country is a hero.
Now, Lin Haizhi and Lin Hairui, please go back to your seats. Come on, your seats are over here.”
Yibao and Erbao: “Okay, thank you, Auntie.”
The two of them obediently went back to their seats.
After sitting down, Yibao behaved well, while Erbao looked curiously at the older students beside him.
In his black-and-white clear eyes, there was a strong urge to speak.
After Yibao and Erbao settled down, the host continued her speech, “As we all know, May Day is Labor Day. Do you know the origin of Labor Day? Labor Day is…”
The host’s speech was very vivid. Like telling a story, she briefly explained the origin of Labor Day, which, though simple, left a profound impression on people.
After briefly explaining the origin of Labor Day, the host continued, “Next, we will interview our guests. The first question, starting from the guest from the high school department.
Question one: How is the housework usually distributed in your family? Who does it? Or do certain people do it together? Please answer first, then the other guest.”
High school student A: “My mom does everything.”
High school student B: “Before my sister got married, my mom and my sister did it together. After my sister got married, my mom did it alone.”
The host nodded, “Next,
High school student B: “My mom does it.”
Host: “Next is the response from the elementary department students.”
Elementary student A: “My mom does it.”
Elementary student B: “My mom and my sister do it together.”
Host: “Finally, the two children from the childcare department will respond. But because they are twins and belong to the same family, only one student needs to respond. The other student can supplement if necessary.”
Erbao didn’t respond; he looked at his brother.
As the older brother, Yibao answered first, “It’s done by my mom, dad, and us together.”
Erbao nodded, “Yes, my mom’s chores are washing vegetables, cooking, and washing her own clothes. Our chores are wiping the table, washing our own clothes, and my dad’s chores include fetching water, washing dishes, and washing his own clothes.”
Yibao: “Yeah, as my mom said, we’re a family. Adults have their chores, and children have theirs.
If children do their own chores well and also help with the adults’ chores, they get rewarded.
So we like doing the adults’ chores, like helping mom wash vegetables and helping dad wash dishes, and then mom rewards us with money.
Our dad also likes to wash clothes for mom. He says mom works hard usually, and she’s his wife, so he wants to wash clothes for her.
But we also want to wash clothes for mom, it’s just dad doesn’t agree. Dad says when we have wives, we can wash clothes for them.”
Erbao added, “Yes, but I don’t want a wife. If you have a wife, you have to give her money, and you have to give her the meat to eat. I want to buy meat for myself. I don’t have enough meat to eat.”
Ning Shu: “…Wait, isn’t this too straightforward? Don’t they know this will make their parents famous?”
The host struggled to suppress her laughter, “…”
How should she respond?
As an artist soldier with fairly good work capabilities, she had hosted many times before, but she had never encountered such children.
Their speech was impressive. What kind of parents could raise such children?
Even the other teachers, except for Teacher Jiang, were stunned.
The words of the two brothers echoed in their minds.
They understood every word, but why couldn’t they understand when these words were put together?
