Chapter 15: Lin Shuqiao Is About to Kill!
“Lin Shuqiao, are you crazy?!”
Lin Shuqiao held a sharp meat cleaver, smiling gently, her tone leisurely: “Now you’re afraid? Since we’re family, shouldn’t we go together?”
“Little brother, don’t you agree?”
“You’re insane!” Lin Long’s face turned pale as he staggered backward in fear.
But the more he retreated, the more she advanced, cornering him with nowhere to escape. He trembled uncontrollably.
“I’m sorry, I was wrong, sis! I’m still young, I don’t want to die!”
“Don’t want to die?” Lin Shuqiao coldly recalled all the past. Every memory was vivid.
“When I just got out of confinement, didn’t you all wish for me to die? Now that it’s time to end it, what’s the panic?”
She suddenly swung the knife. It landed right beside his head, slicing cleanly into the wall and severing several strands of hair.
“Help! Help! Lin Shuqiao has gone mad—she’s trying to kill someone!”
Terrified, he shoved their mother in front of him as a shield and ran for his life.
“Stop!” Their mother, Lin Mu, was also terrified. “You beast! You’re worse than an animal—I can’t believe I raised you!”
Lin Shuqiao’s eyes were cold and sharp: “My fault? I’ve been abused by you since I was young, worked like a slave for this family—this is karma! You say this is my fault?”
She advanced further. Lin Mu and Lin Long, scared out of their minds, scattered and fled.
The others followed in panic.
Watching their pathetic retreat, Lin Shuqiao crossed her arms and coldly swept her gaze around the chaotic room.
“I’m giving you all one minute to pack up and get out of my house. Anyone still here after that—I’ll gladly take you with me to the afterlife.”
“You!” Lin Youxi stood up, pointing at her furiously. “You ungrateful brat! How could you say such things—we’re your family!”
“Family?” Her gaze was ice. “You people drove me to death that winter.”
Her mother shrieked: “You ungrateful wretch—we raised you!”
“Raised me?” Lin Shuqiao cut her off sharply. “You just wanted me to make money so Lin Long could get married. I was nothing but a servant…”
“Time’s up. Get out.”
“You—”
Lin Long glanced at her, still hoping to squeeze some money out of her. But a sharp glare from her made his face go pale and his mouth shut tight.
One by one, they carried their bundles and filed out, faces full of resentment and anger.
Lin Mu was the last to leave. Once the others were out, she turned back and cursed, pointing at Lin Shuqiao: “You shameless bitch! How dare you kick us out? Just wait—I’ll make sure everyone knows you’re a cold-hearted snake!”
Expressionless, Lin Shuqiao strode forward and grabbed Lin Mu by the hair, dragging her to the door.
“Goodbye, mother.”
Bang! She slammed the door shut in her face.
Lin Mu stood outside cursing wildly, wishing she could tear her daughter apart.
“Help! Lin Shuqiao is trying to kill people!”
Turning around, she suddenly saw Lu Zheng standing next to her. She immediately switched to a pitiful expression and started crying, trying to get him on her side.
Lu Zheng, however, didn’t say a word. With a frown, he walked past her into the house.
Seeing no help coming, Lin Mu glared at the door once more and finally walked away.
Inside, Lin Shuqiao chuckled at how she had frightened her family into running like rats with a kitchen knife.
Just then, Lu Zheng entered—and saw her laughing with a knife in hand.
Lu Zheng strode forward and placed a large hand on her slightly trembling shoulder.
“Lin Shuqiao, what happened to you lately?” He took the knife from her hand and threw it aside. His dark eyes studied her calm face.
Her expression was serene, but her lips were curved in a smile.
It was an unsettlingly eerie sight.
Lin Shuqiao stopped smiling and said flatly, “Nothing much. I just realized something: I’d rather let them think I’ve gone mad than let them stay and torment me.”
“Sorry for dragging you into this.”
Lu Zheng looked down at her, confirming she was still mentally clear.
Still, he didn’t release her. His eyes stayed locked on her, watching her every movement closely.
“Don’t worry, I had control. Just meant to scare them,” Lin Shuqiao explained, knowing what he feared.
In the corner, Lu Ziqi watched, visibly shaken by her earlier “crazy” outburst. He decided he’d better avoid her from now on—she might really kill him one day.
Neighbors soon gathered, having heard the noise. Lin Mu had screamed all the way out, and word spread fast that Lin Shuqiao had chased her family with a knife.
“I heard she actually stabbed someone—is it true?”
“Oh my god! Did she go crazy? That’s terrifying!”
“I always said she wasn’t simple. Looked so quiet, but now… wow!”
“Glad I never messed with her. Poor Lu Zheng, married to a psycho.”
People whispered in fear. What if she really was insane and started randomly hacking people?
“We live in the same compound—there’s no avoiding her!”
“Let’s not exaggerate. Maybe she was just scaring them?”
“Scaring them? Normal people don’t wave knives! She’s clearly unstable!”
“Shh! Keep your voice down. If she hears us, we might be next!”
“Yeah, better steer clear of that madwoman.”
Everyone was now calling Lin Shuqiao a ruthless lunatic, fearing she might go on a rampage.
“Zheng-ge, what’s wrong with your wife? She just chased people with a knife, and now she’s all calm again?” Wang Yong approached, peeking into the now quiet yard.
Lu Zheng glanced toward Lin Shuqiao. Though Wang Yong was whispering, she probably still heard.
To prevent the rumors from spreading further, Lu Zheng cut him off.
“She was just scaring them. And her family really crossed the line.” His voice was low but firm. “Let’s not gossip about this.”
“Alright.” Wang Yong looked nervously at Lin Shuqiao and lowered his voice even more. “Still, Zheng-ge, just be careful.”
Lu Zheng didn’t reply.
Lin Shuqiao’s recent behavior had been far from normal.
But she didn’t seem to care about the gossip. She calmly went back to the kitchen and started preparing dinner.
Seeing her act like nothing happened, Lu Zheng said nothing more. After all, it was her family business.
Dinner was unusually quiet. Lin Shuqiao ate slowly, just like always. But Lu Zheng occasionally frowned, his thoughts more conflicted than ever.
Was she really cutting ties with her family just to be with Jiang He?
Thinking this made Lu Zheng’s face darken. That divorce needed to happen—soon.
