Wilderness Livestream Room [Interstellar]
Wilderness Livestream Room | Chapter: 9

[edited]

Although Su Ge was internally mocking Rong Shi, as soon as they entered the forest, she quickly realized that not only was Rong Shi not bragging, but there was also a lot of humility in his words.

Facing the massive creature that had just collapsed in front of her, Su Ge really wanted to take back the complaints in her heart. As expected, he was incredibly powerful.

From the moment this creature appeared until it was killed and fell to the ground, Su Ge couldn’t even see its face clearly, nor did she see how Rong Shi made his move. He still stood there, looking as serene as ever.

Suddenly, Su Ge recalled what she had read in the crammed pages of the “Interstellar Encyclopedia,” which described the inhabitants of the Milky Way Galaxy as having an innate and strong sense of perception, with a danger detection radius of twenty meters. This species was noted for its formidable combat abilities, and they can easily take on at least three adult opponents of similar height from other planets.

Impressive, indeed.

Among the planets currently in the Galactic Alliance, intelligent beings combat abilities generally fell into two categories: those with inherently strong combat capabilities, such as those from the Milky Way Galaxy and Bell Star, and those with weak innate combat abilities but who could wield powerful external forces, like those from Crow Star.

However, Earth seemed to fit neither category, being both weak in natural combat abilities and technologically lagging in combat prowess. Su Ge suddenly felt a deep sense of sorrow; Earth being classified as a Class V planet was truly justified… o(╥﹏╥)o

“Species name unknown. This creature is covered in thick fur, has a massive body, and its head constitutes about one-sixth of its body size. It has tusks about two meters long on either side of its head, presumably its primary means and weapon of attack. Body temperature is approximately forty degrees…” Rong Shi walked up, squatted beside the creature’s corpse, and began describing its features in a concise manner.

It was clear that Rong Shi wasn’t speaking for Su Ge’s benefit; it was simply a habit he had developed. However, as Rong Shi described the creature’s features, Su Ge started to find it familiar.

She took a few steps toward the creature, but before she could get closer, Rong Shi stopped her, “Don’t come any closer; the corpse might carry viruses.” He turned his face towards her, speaking very seriously, “Humans have weak resistance to viruses. Your physical constitution is very poor, and even a slightly stronger virus can be fatal. It’s safer to keep a distance.”

Su Ge: “…”

I have reason to suspect you’re just insulting me!

Before Su Ge could finish her internal rant, she saw Rong Shi refocus on the creature. His pale, slender hands parted the creature’s long fur with little effort, tearing off a piece of skin and flesh to reveal the blood-soaked tissue beneath.

Rong Shi continued to describe the findings in a calm, methodical tone, “The blood inside the body is abundant, muscles are strong, and there is a pervasive unique odor, initially judged to be some kind of metallic smell, likely toxic. Reproductive details are unknown, as is the method of reproduction.”

Su Ge twitched her nose but couldn’t detect any metallic smell. Instead, she was overwhelmed by the strong scent of blood as Rong Shi tore open the flesh. She took a few more steps and finally got a clear look at the creature.

This… isn’t this a mammoth!

Although mammoths had long been extinct in Su Ge’s time on Earth, the thriving entertainment industry and numerous museum fossils meant that most Earthlings were still quite familiar with this ancient creature. Su Ge never imagined that one day she would encounter a living specimen of this historical creature on an unfamiliar wasteland planet.

Well, even though it was killed immediately by the violent alien in front of her, at least it had been alive.

No matter what Su Ge was thinking, Rong Shi continued to assess and analyze the mammoth’s corpse, “This creature appears to be solitary, and it’s not yet clear if it is a social species or an intelligent life form. This needs to be reported to the military for records…”

Rong Shi had excellent hearing. Just as he was continuing his evaluation of the creature’s body, he heard a faint snicker. He turned to look at Su Ge, feeling a bit annoyed at the interruption. However, before he could speak, he saw Su Ge looking back at him.

Her eyes were slightly curved, hiding the disdainful glint within them, but Rong Shi could still see clearly. She lifted her finger and pointed to the unfamiliar creature on the ground, then spoke fluently in a common language with a hint of a special Earth accent.

“The creature lying in front of you and just struck fatally by you, is called a mammoth. It lived on Earth during the cold climate of the Ice Age, probably over a million years ago, and has long been extinct. They stood about five meters tall and weighed between 8 to 12 tons, mammalian. They typically gave birth to one offspring at a time. They once roamed extensively on Earth, witnessing a grand history, although they later disappeared. However, they were definitely not nobodies or strange creatures beyond judgment.”

Rong Shi stood still, momentarily unsure how to respond to Su Ge. But then he saw Su Ge smile and walk confidently to his side.

Su Ge extended her foot and gently kicked the mammoth’s corpse a couple of times, then said to Rong Shi beside her, “Also, this somewhat metallic smell, is not a sign of toxicity; it’s the smell of blood. Most creatures on Earth have blood with this smell, and mammoths are not poisonous.”

Rong Shi: …

Suddenly, he realized that all his judgments just made had been thrown back at him by this Earth woman named Su Ge, and quite frankly, it was a slap in the face. By all accounts, he should be angry, but for some reason, he didn’t feel angry.

Perhaps because Earth was too backward, too insignificant, even the interstellar descriptions of them were passing. This resulted in the entire Interstellar Alliance being filled with negative and stereotypical impressions of this planet, even Rong Shi himself was no exception.

Although he hadn’t spoken on any of the communication channels, he actually found many of the comments within them to be agreeable. In his view, Earthlings were indeed weak and backward, and their intelligence seemed lacking. So, when he was forced to team up with this group called Earthlings, he completely convinced himself with a charitable attitude.

Of course, this broad sentiment hadn’t changed up to now. It’s just that, under these stereotypical impressions of Earthlings, he discovered that perhaps there were some interesting things on Earth.

Just like now, he saw Su Ge take out a sharp dagger from her backpack, which was given by the organizers. She skillfully wielded it, flipping it around in her fingers, making the originally cold blade dance elegantly between her fingers like beautiful flowers, without any hint of aggression. Just when Rong Shi couldn’t figure out how Su Ge did this, he saw the dagger flash in the dim forest.

The following scenes left Rong Shi speechless.

He only saw Su Ge jump to the side of the mammoth’s thigh, effortlessly tearing its skin open. Then, without waiting for Rong Shi to react, she cut a large chunk of meat, red and white, from the thigh.

Rong Shi couldn’t put into words Su Ge’s actions of cutting open the mammoth’s skin and slicing meat from its thigh, but as a combatant, he could judge that Su Ge’s movements were swift and precise, without any hesitation or redundant actions. Even after Su Ge cut the meat, he observed the cut and the traces underneath.

There was no hesitation, no unnecessary cuts. It could be inferred that this Earth woman had already made precise calculations when she struck, or perhaps, this kind of calculation had become a part of her body.

It was as if Rong Shi encountered an enemy and would directly strike to kill the opponent. Perhaps he never thought of killing the other party, but all instincts were ingrained in his body.

Yes, instincts.

Rong Shi’s gaze flickered slightly. Perhaps some thoughts weren’t obvious, but Rong Shi realized one thing: Earth or Earthlings weren’t those overlooked Class V planets by the Interstellar Alliance. They might—be not simple.

Su Ge was somewhat excited. She had never seen a mammoth before, let alone eaten mammoth meat. Was today considered indulging in something extravagant?

Because she had no knowledge about this creature, Su Ge referred to pig legs when choosing the meat. She selected a piece from the hind leg that was resilient and had an appropriate balance of fat and lean meat.

She avoided major arteries while cutting, so there wasn’t much blood on the meat, making it easier to carry later. After all, Su Ge didn’t want herself or her backpack to be soaked in blood.

However, Rong Shi was puzzled by the result.

Although Rong Shi had vaguely felt that this Earthling might not be simple, he still couldn’t deduce what Su Ge intended to do with all his experience. Was she going to… research with the meat she had just cut from the corpse?

Right, he seemed to have heard Su Ge say just now that this species had been extinct on Earth for a long time. So, she must be curious about this species, and therefore, she must be using it for research… right…

However, under normal circumstances, usually those who conduct research, like do they do this kind of research by involving taking a piece from a corpse… Rong Shi thought hard. Maybe, perhaps, it’s a special research method of Earthlings?

“You…” When Rong Shi saw Su Ge quickly weave a long rope from the tough grass on the ground and securely tie the piece of meat with it, hanging it directly under her backpack, he couldn’t help but feel that Earthlings’ research procedures were—bold.

“What?” Su Ge hung the meat under her backpack, took a few steps to confirm that the fat and the little blood on the meat wouldn’t soil her backpack or clothes. Satisfied, she looked forward to dinner, and even her expression towards Rong Shi became much gentler and happier.

Watching Su Ge’s sincere smile of happiness, Rong Shi instinctively closed his mouth. He felt he must have been mistaken; it seemed his stereotypical impression of Earthlings was clouding his judgment. He should change his perspective. In fact, Earthlings were very studious and had a strong spirit of exploration.

Thinking this, he didn’t pursue his original question but instead asked, “Are we ready to go?”
