Chapter 18: Lu Jiajia Kills
Lu Jiajia had no idea she had once again attracted the attention of that bastard Er Laizi. She knocked on the door, full of joy.
It was Zhang Wenliang’s sister-in-law who came to answer, her expression lukewarm.
“Sister-in-law, I came to check on Brother Wenliang,” Lu Jiajia said as she handed over a small basket.
The woman’s face only showed a forced smile when she saw the eggs and piece of meat inside.
“Come in, then.”
Once inside, Lu Jiajia was startled to see Sun Daniu sitting by the kitchen door, her mouth twisted and drooling uncontrollably.
She took a frightened step back.
Sun Daniu had never liked Lu Jiajia. Her irritation flared, and she wanted to curse at her.
“Um… Sister-in-law, I’ll go see Brother Wenliang.”
Without waiting for a response, she slipped into Zhang Wenliang’s room.
Thankfully, the Zhang family treated Zhang Wenliang like a treasure, and his room was at least clean.
He was lying on the bed, holding a book with a gloomy expression.
But he couldn’t concentrate at all.
His mind was filled with one thought:
Am I still a man?
These past few days, he hadn’t felt a single reaction down there. Completely unresponsive.
“Brother Wenliang!”
Seeing Lu Jiajia at the door, Zhang Wenliang felt a wave of irritation but still forced a smile.
“Jiajia, you’re here?”
Lu Jiajia was thrilled to see his gentle smile as he set his book aside.
No wonder the system had her choose him—he truly was excellent. Even while sick, he still studied. He was one step closer to getting into college.
Which meant she was one step closer to becoming a city dweller.
She stepped forward and held his hand. “Brother Wenliang, you’ve suffered.”
Zhang Wenliang yanked her into his arms without a word and kissed her.
“Mm-mm—” Lu Jiajia was both embarrassed and angry, but she didn’t resist. She let him touch her freely.
Instinctively, her hand moved downward—and froze.
Soft.
Zhang Wenliang panicked too. Still no reaction?
Lu Jiajia, her face flushed, patted his hand lightly. “Brother Wenliang, you’re just too tired. You’ll be fine soon.”
Zhang Wenliang felt comforted. Jiajia really understood him.
He kissed her lips. “Since you’re here, that’s perfect. I need your help.”
“My teacher is in town. Can you pick up some books for me? I’ll give you the address.”
Lu Jiajia beamed with pride. “Don’t worry, Brother Wenliang, I’ll definitely bring them back safely.”
After a bit more cuddling, Lu Jiajia finally left.
The Zhang family remained distant and cold.
Still, Lu Jiajia was pleased when the system prompt appeared:
[Task complete. Reward: Whitening Pill. Points deducted automatically.]
She hadn’t expected to earn 20 points just by completing a task related to Brother Wenliang.
Cheerfully, she headed home.
Suddenly, a force covered her mouth and dragged her into a haystack.
“Mm-mm-mm!” She stared in horror at Er Laizi.
Lu Jiajia completely broke down. “I’ll give you money, just don’t touch me! Go find Su Nianzhi, she’s prettier than me!”
Er Laizi, already furious after being humiliated by Su Nianzhi and Qin Xiaoyun, was enraged by her words.
“You bitch! If it weren’t for you making me propose to that sick girl, would I have gotten beaten up? Why didn’t you tell me she was involved with that wolf cub Qin Xiaoyun? Damn slut!”
He yanked down her pants.
Lu Jiajia was terrified and filled with hatred—hating Su Nianzhi and Qin Xiaoyun to the core.
They will pay.
A long time later, she pulled up her pants and walked out of the haystack like nothing had happened.
Aunt Liu, known for her big mouth, was on her way back from the fields to fetch her sickle when she saw Er Laizi emerge from the haystack.
Her eyes narrowed. That little brat must’ve done something bad.
She tiptoed over—and saw Lu Jiajia’s bare backside.
“Ah!” she screamed.
The two locked eyes.
Aunt Liu looked at Lu Jiajia, then in the direction Er Laizi had left.
She covered her mouth.
She’d just uncovered something huge.
She turned to run.
Lu Jiajia grabbed her arm. “Auntie, I was forced!”
Though gossipy and jealous, Aunt Liu had a basic sense of morality. She yanked her arm free, a look of disgust on her face.
Lu Jiajia’s expression turned dark.
Panicking, she cried out to the system:
“System, help me!”
The system replied coldly:
[Point deficit. Please complete tasks to earn more points.]
Lu Jiajia was furious, but didn’t dare curse the system. Her eyes fell on a thick wooden stick by the haystack.
Her gaze hardened.
Before Aunt Liu could react, everything went black.
Lu Jiajia hastily dressed.
She stuffed a button she’d torn off Er Laizi’s clothes into Aunt Liu’s pocket.
Then, she slowly dragged the body to the nearby river.
She shut her eyes for a moment.
“Aunt Liu, you shouldn’t have meddled.”
With one strong push, she rolled the body into the water.
After confirming no one was around, Lu Jiajia quietly ran home.
She sat on her bed, trembling.
She had killed someone. She had really killed someone.
But they had forced her.
Wiping her tears away, Lu Jiajia bit her lip.
A new idea formed in her mind.
She could wipe them all out in one go.
The next morning, Su Nianzhi headed into the mountains alone. This time, she didn’t take Su Maomao.
That’s because Su Zhewen was taking him to Wangjia Village to help out today.
Su Maomao pouted in protest, but couldn’t escape his father’s loving bear hug.
He was carried off just like that.
Su Zhewu said he was delivering goods and left before dawn.
Wang Guifang and Father Su had already gone to the fields.
In the countryside, life revolved around that small patch of farmland.
With such perfect timing and conditions, she couldn’t let the opportunity slip by.
She grabbed a rope and headed out.
Humming a tune, she stepped lightly along the path. Her body had improved a bit over the past two days.
She no longer panted after just a few steps, but still needed to rest now and then.
Times like these really made her wish she could drag the system back.
Last time, she’d stayed on the outskirts of the mountain. Today, she planned to go deeper.
This mountain was called Tiger Head Mountain because, according to villagers, tigers once lived in its depths.
A hunter from a nearby village had been torn to pieces once. Since then, no one dared go deep.
People only dug for wild vegetables near the edge.
Su Nianzhi wasn’t afraid of tigers. In the apocalypse, zombies were much scarier.
In this life, all she was good at was hunting. Before the apocalypse, she’d worked in computer science, then studied some traditional handicrafts.
But none of that mattered anymore.
Probably never would again.
She muttered to herself while slowly expanding her spiritual awareness.
The deeper she went, the denser the forest canopy grew.
And sure enough, there were more animals.
Wild pheasants and rabbits darted around the forest floor—what a sight.
All future food.
A rabbit even hopped up and locked eyes with her.
Then turned its butt and bounced away.
Its look was almost taunting.
Like it was mocking her.
