Don’t Want the Deranged Male Lead? Then I’ll Take Him Chapter 25

Chapter 25: Extra – The Girl Next Door: When Two People Mistake Each Other at a Blind Date

Jiang Jiang gets bombarded with calls from her parents and is dragged home for yet another blind date. Although she’s only 25, her aging parents are eager for her to find a capable husband who can help manage the family business. But she’s tired of being set up with guys only interested in marrying into her wealth.

She finally gives in and agrees to one last meeting.

At the café, she’s shown only a side profile photo of the blind date—a man with a distinctive black obsidian earring. She spots a man matching that description and confidently sits down in front of him.

Unbeknownst to her, the man she’s talking to—Wen Ye—is not the actual blind date.

Wen Ye quickly realizes she’s mistaken him for someone else. But instead of correcting her, he’s intrigued and decides to play along. They exchange introductions, and he even gives a sincere, almost too-perfect account of his background, making himself sound like the ideal stay-at-home son-in-law.

Jiang Jiang tries to scare him off by listing demanding requirements: she can’t cook, doesn’t want many servants around, and expects him to do housework. Instead of backing off, he eagerly agrees and even invites her to try his cooking.

He ends up going home with her and cooks lunch that completely wins over Jiang Jiang and the house staff. Before leaving, he gently hooks his pinky with hers and asks for a chance to explain himself if any misunderstandings arise in the future. She’s left dazed and vaguely charmed.

Later that day, Jiang Jiang learns from her mom’s messages that the actual blind date never showed up. Which means—

She had sat with the wrong guy the whole time.
And he had played along like he was supposed to be there.
No wonder he insisted on writing his number in her palm instead of letting her check her phone.

She’s furious—but also a little curious. She messages him asking why he lied. He calls immediately to confess:

“I’m Wen Ye. I didn’t lie about anything else. The guy who was supposed to come didn’t show, and I really liked you from the moment I saw you. I can meet all your requirements—I’m a good guy.”

She’s stunned. Turns out Wen Ye is the heir to the Qin Corporation, one of the biggest family-owned enterprises, who inherited a “meager fortune” (read: an entire conglomerate). He’s famous for being a workaholic and rumored to be asexual—definitely not someone who flirts easily.

And yet here he is, begging for her attention like a love-struck puppy.

He invites her to visit his house and meet his cat, which “can do backflips.” She’s skeptical but gives in.

At the Qin mansion, she sees the round orange cat—named Tangtang—who doesn’t look acrobatic at all. Wen Ye insists that it’s “upset” she doubts it, pretending to translate its meows.

He then officially introduces himself, shows her proof of his identity, and sincerely apologizes:

“I’ve never met someone I liked this much. I just didn’t want to miss the chance. Everything I said was true. I’ll never lie again.”

Jiang Jiang smiles mischievously:

“But you did lie about Tangtang doing backflips.”

Wen Ye freezes.

“Then I’ll stay and supervise until Tangtang learns a backflip—as punishment.”

Wen Ye, hugging her tightly, groans:

“Tangtang’s dumb… it might never learn.”

Tangtang meows indignantly in protest.

Jiang Jiang laughs:

“Then I guess I’ll be stuck with you forever. What now, Wen Ye?”
