The Niece-in-law Remarried Him, and the Scheming Officer Went Crazy with Joy Chapter 37

Chapter 37: Not ending!

She jumped up, but as she put weight on her foot, her face turned pale and she collapsed to the ground. Before anyone could react, Cen Bowen rushed over quickly to support her.

“Mom, let’s talk calmly. What are you doing?” Cen Bowen shouted anxiously at his mother. The entire table fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Song Yiyi wore a look that said, “I knew this would happen,” and slowly turned her head to look at the visibly displeased Song Minghui.

After speaking, Cen Bowen suddenly realized the awkward atmosphere. He hurriedly released Kang Ying, his hands awkwardly at a loss, and smiled sheepishly while lowering his voice, “She’s still a patient.”

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Cen Bowen turned to Song Yiyi and said, “Yiyi, I promise you, after we get married, everything will be centered on you. You’ll be in charge of the family matters. Also, if you want to work, I’ll find a way to help you get a job. Of course, if you don’t want to work, you can just stay home and enjoy life.” As he spoke, his confidence grew and his back straightened.

“I, Cen Bowen, hereby guarantee that in this lifetime, I will only love Song Yiyi. The one I want to marry is only Yiyi.” When he said this, he was looking directly at Song Minghui, as if making a promise to him.

The table fell into an awkward silence again.

Just as Cen Bowen was about to lose his footing from embarrassment, Cen’s mother smiled and broke the tension, “Oh wow, how touching! My son’s never said such sweet words since he was little. Yiyi, you’re really lucky!”

“That luck is better reserved for Auntie,” Song Yiyi retorted without sparing Cen Bowen, “He talks a good game, but the moment something happens, he runs straight into the arms of his ‘good brothers.’”

Cen Bowen felt Song Yiyi was changing. She was increasingly fond of making unreasonable fusses. Such a small thing, why make such a big deal?

He rubbed his temples helplessly and said, “Yiyi, that’s enough.”

Today she had secretly called Kang Ying here, mocked and insulted her, even hit her—wasn’t that enough? What had Kang Ying done wrong?

Song Yiyi raised an eyebrow, “What if it’s not enough?”

Cen Bowen took a deep breath, and considering the occasion, he held back his frustration and said, “Kang Ying, you can go now. You have nothing to do here.”

Kang Ying got up in a sorry state, her face wet—no one knew if it was from the tea or tears mixed together. She didn’t say a word and slowly moved toward the exit, completely lacking any “manly spirit” now.

Watching this, Song Yiyi casually remarked, “She’s having such a hard time. Deputy Battalion Commander Cen, aren’t you going to see your ‘good brother’ off?”

Cen Bowen really couldn’t stand Song Yiyi’s sarcastic tone anymore. He wasn’t stupid, and she kept insulting him from all sides.

Frowning and annoyed, Cen Bowen said, “Yiyi, I know you’re angry inside, and whatever fire you have, take it out on me. This has nothing to do with Kang Ying—she’s still a patient. Can you stop making trouble for no reason?”

Cen Bowen decided to say everything he felt openly. Cen’s mother didn’t even try to stop him.

“Yes, Kang Ying did something wrong, but that was… that was because she liked me. I can’t control how others feel. Didn’t I tell you—I don’t like her.”

“Kang Ying made a small mistake and was punished for it. Is it necessary to hold a grudge forever?”

“I’ve said it—we’re just friends.”

“Since childhood, many girls liked me. You can’t expect me to cut off all relations with every woman in the world, can you?”

“How come I never realized before that you’re so petty!”

“You don’t have friends yourself. If I marry you, am I not allowed to have friends? Do I have to revolve around you every day for you to be happy?”

Cen Bowen’s words became more and more offensive.

Song Minghui and Cai Mengjun both darkened their faces.

Gu Chengze wanted to get up as soon as Cen Bowen started speaking, but Song Yiyi quickly tugged at his sleeve to stop him.

“Bang!” Cen Bowen got punched hard in the face, and screams came from Kang Ying and Cen’s mother.

“Bowen!”

“Little brother, what are you doing?!”

Cen’s mother screamed as she rushed to help Cen Bowen, worriedly looking at the blood on his lip, feeling as if it hurt her too. Her voice trembled, “If you can’t explain yourself clearly, I’ll go to the old master and ask him to settle this!”

Her voice was loud, filled with both scolding and worry, and tears streamed down her face.

Upon hearing this last sentence, Cen Yue’s eyes darkened with a cold light, and he said with a faint, half-smile, “Second sister-in-law, if you don’t even know what he did wrong, then you’re not the only one who needs some education.”

“Bowen didn’t do anything wrong!”

At this point, Cen’s mother knew this marriage was probably doomed. She stopped pretending.

She gave Kang Ying a fierce glare, yanked off Kang Ying’s hand from Cen Bowen’s shoulder, and shouted at Kang Ying, “It’s all this little slut—she shamelessly seduced our Bowen and ruined my son’s marriage!”

Then she turned and glared at Song Yiyi, “This marriage, my Bowen isn’t going to have it!”

Cen’s mother finally saw through it: the Song family wasn’t easy to deal with. That little bitch Song Yiyi kept pushing her Bowen, but Bowen was just too outstanding and attracted too much attention. How could it be his fault? It was her own fault for not keeping her man’s heart!
