Wilderness Livestream Room [Interstellar]
Wilderness Livestream Room | Chapter: 28

“Spring has arrived, everything is rejuvenating, and it’s mating season again on the grasslands…”

In Su Ge’s mind flashed the voice of a deceased famous broadcaster from China, one of his most classic segments.

And indeed, at this moment, standing on the hillside and looking down, what everyone saw was a scene reminiscent of an African wildlife park.

Instead of towering mountains or dense forests behind, it was an exceptionally beautiful landscape where everything seemed to blend together.

Tall and short trees dotted the green grassland, some grouped together in clusters, others scattered like pearls on a plain. A broad river flowed through the landscape, its surface shimmering white in the sunlight, resembling a jade ribbon from a distance.

Yet, amidst this captivating wilderness, what struck the most were the patches of wild animals.

Su Ge walked from the landing point to the safe zone, and having ventured into the wilderness yesterday, she thought there were quite a lot of wild animals on this planet. However, she never expected today’s reality to deliver such a resounding slap to her inexperienced face.

All the animals she had seen before didn’t amount to what she saw today.

At this moment, standing on the hillside, the group could only see these wild animals appearing as small black dots scattered across the grassland. They couldn’t accurately distinguish each species.

Even Su Ge could only roughly identify them based on the “Animal World” she had watched.

“The one with horns on its head, fur in shades of brown, should be antelopes. If not antelopes, they’re probably of the same species. I don’t know exactly, but these animals are definitely herbivores. Their first instinct when encountering danger is to run, and if they can’t escape, they use their horns to defend…”

“What about their natural enemies? You’re talking about their natural enemies. Is it probably the big cats lurking in the grass, like lions, tigers, cheetahs, and so on.”

“Can you see it clearly? I can’t see it. I’m just guessing based on my past experience.”

As they walked down the hillside, the five aliens transformed into a flurry of questions, constantly asking “whys” from start to finish. Meanwhile, Su Ge became the walking encyclopedia of the “Animal World”.

The distance from the top of the mountain to the bottom was much easier to traverse, but it took too much time. After reaching the grassland, Su Ge looked up at the sky and realized it was almost dusk. She sighed and asked, “We can’t go back today, can we?”

“Yes,” Rong Shi nodded.

“What should we do now?” Zigmadar, already highly convinced of Su Ge, now regarded her as an outstanding representative. She has a lot of knowledge and was very powerful as well, after listening to her explain the “Animal World” all afternoon.

It wasn’t just Zigmadar; Sela was the same. Even Ron and Li Ya, who had some reservations about Su Ge before, were now extremely convinced of her. They all stood near Su Ge, eagerly watching her, with a humble attitude.

“Before it gets dark, we need to find a suitable place to rest. Most importantly, we need to start a fire quickly. The chances of being attacked will be quite high in an environment surrounded by wild animals.”

Although Su Ge was skilled in combat and Rong Shi as a fighter from the Milky Way Galaxy was even stronger, dealing with lone animals could be easily managed. However, their combat abilities would be insignificant against patches of wild beasts.

The five aliens had never been so obedient. They strictly followed Su Ge’s instructions to choose tonight’s camping spot. During the search for the camping spot, they also collected combustible firewood.

When they finally found the place Su Ge had requested, “windproof, sheltered, and with a wide view,” it was already very dark.

Su Ge, with swift movements, quickly lit the campfire with a few strikes of flint, her fluid motions earning genuine admiration from the five extraterrestrials sitting nearby. Though they had been trained many times, her speed in starting the fire was truly…

The main purpose of lighting a fire in the wilderness was to prevent attacks from fierce felines like tigers, lions, leopards, and vicious canines like hyenas. However, the group had never expected that after lighting the campfire and preparing to rest, they would be greeted by—extraterrestrials.

The first team to arrive was Lana from Feyman Star and his teammate Meng from Monier Star.

They appeared in the first half of the night when Su Ge and Zigmadar were on duty.

Lana supported Meng, who stumbled along the way. Their heavy footsteps made a brushing sound on the quiet grassland, further alerting the already cautious Su Ge and Zigmadar. Just as they were about to leap up to attack, they heard Lana’s almost hoarse voice shouting, “Who goes there? We’re Lana from Feyman Star and Meng from Monier Star!”

Fortunately, Lana’s quick wit stopped Su Ge and Zigmadar from charging forward. They immediately dropped their weapons and ran towards the two.

Zigmadar took Meng directly from Lana’s hands, while Su Ge went forward to receive Lana.

Though Lana didn’t look well at the moment, she still managed to muster a weak smile of gratitude towards Su Ge, saying, “Are you from Earth? Thank you.”

The two rushed back to the campfire with the injured person. Rong Shi, Sela, Li Ya, and Ron were already awake. In a place like this, nobody could afford to sleep deeply. When Su Ge and Zigmadar hurried out, the four of them had already stirred and were ready to go, but they were surprised to see the injured person arriving.

Su Ge was deeply impressed by Lana. After all, she was the one who had gossiped about the ugly color of the backpack in the hall. As a planet specializing in various fashions, the people there were generally critical of aesthetics but not very good in combat. Lana’s current condition truly demonstrated this state.

Her skin was dry and peeling, and she looked extremely lifeless. She had numerous small and large wounds all over her body, indicating that she had endured quite a bit over the past few days.

As for Lana’s teammate Meng, he wasn’t in any better shape. Considering it, Monier Star’s race could also be placed in the second tier of combat effectiveness within the interstellar alliance. However, the wounds all over his body had declared that achieving any victory on this planet alone and unarmed was simply impossible.

Compared to Lana, who only had scratches from branches and falls, Meng’s wounds were much worse. Besides the usual scratches and abrasions, there was a particularly large wound on his thigh, as if he had been bitten and torn by some fierce beast.

The wound was deep and large, and it had been some time since the injury occurred. It was clearly inflamed and even showing signs of pus, making Meng look extremely weak due to this injury.

Monier Star’s people naturally had a faint bluish-white hue to their skin. When healthy, they resembled fine porcelain, but now, this porcelain seemed to be covered in dust, devoid of its former luster. Meng’s body temperature was high, and he appeared extremely weak.

When they tore open his pants and revealed the wound on his thigh, almost everyone felt a chill down their spine.

Lana sat beside Meng, tears streaming down her face. She couldn’t bring herself to cry aloud, instead, she whispered repeatedly, “It’s all my fault, it’s all my fault. If it weren’t for my carelessness, he wouldn’t be like this.”

Meng hadn’t lost all consciousness. He half-opened his eyes and flashed Lana a weak, reassuring smile, saying, “Lana, we’re teammates. In that situation, there’s no right or wrong.”

Lana sniffled, then looked straight at Rong Shi, earnestly pleading, “General Rong Shi, I beg you to help Meng. His condition is dire. Please, save him.”

In Lana’s eyes, and indeed in the eyes of all the extraterrestrials participating in this broadcast, Rong Shi was someone impossible to overlook. Not only was he from the vast Milky Way Galaxy, but he was also a Royal Major General who participated in numerous military exercises and possessed formidable combat skills.

Rong Shi’s glittering resume from the past served as an anchor in the minds of all the extraterrestrials. To them, having Rong Shi around meant there was hardly any problem that couldn’t be solved.

This feeling was akin to how we, when we were young, believed that our parents, adults, were capable of anything, and as long as we handed over our problems to them, there was nothing they couldn’t handle.

So, when Lana was supported back to the edge of the campfire by Su Ge, the first thing she saw was Rong Shi, and she felt an overwhelming urge to cry with joy. She even felt an unprecedented sense of security.

Rong Shi was indeed skilled in dealing with wounds. Usually, they often encountered various injuries during military exercises or various activities, but at that time, they would always carry first aid supplies with them, making it relatively easy to handle any simple wound.

Now, in this completely medical-deprived situation, Rong Shi felt a bit embarrassed, like a skilled cook having to cook without rice would be impossible. He carefully observed Meng’s wound and found that it had obviously been there for some time. The redness and inflammation were severe, causing him to worry, “Has the organizer not contacted you?”

Lana immediately shook her head. She understood what Rong Shi meant. Normally, the organizers would proactively contact them in situations of extreme danger for the participants. In other words, if the organizers hadn’t contacted Lana and them, it meant that the organizers didn’t consider Meng’s injury to be fatal yet, and Meng’s condition hadn’t reached an extremely dire state.

This was the evaluation given by the organizers, and generally, this evaluation was quite reliable.

With this evaluation, it could be inferred that Meng’s condition had not yet reached a life-threatening state. However, from the current situation, Meng wasn’t in good shape either. Rong Shi took a deep breath, then turned to look at Su Ge, who had been by his side observing Meng’s wound as well, and asked, “What do you think?”

Lana’s impression of Su Ge probably only included her good performance in the Grand Hall and his gentleness when she had just helped her. So when Rong Shi asked Su Ge’s opinion, she actually felt a bit doubtful.

In the eyes of these aliens, Rong Shi was the top expert. But if Rong Shi couldn’t handle it, what hope was there?

And all of Rong Shi’s recent states and hidden behaviors indicated that he currently had no solution to this situation. Although he didn’t say it out loud, Lana could see it. So, in that moment, her heart felt as uncomfortable as being plunged into an ice cellar.

However, Rong Shi then asked the Earth female called Su Ge for her opinion, which surprised Lana, but it also ignited some irrational hope that couldn’t help but emerge alongside her emotions.

First, Su Ge gestured for others to give Lana some water to drink, allowing her to replenish her fluids so she wouldn’t suffer from dehydration and worsen the situation. Only then did she express her opinion on Meng.

“From what I can see now, his condition isn’t optimistic. The wound on his leg is infected and needs to be treated quickly. Moreover, he’s currently experiencing an elevated body temperature due to this infection, which is also not a good sign.”

This was a situation that everyone could sense. As long as it remained unspoken, they clung to unrealistic hopes that it wasn’t as dire. However, when Su Ge verbalized it, everyone’s hearts plummeted.

Although Meng had a fever, he hadn’t completely lost consciousness. Listening to these words, a relieved smile appeared on his face. He said to Lana, “It’s okay. If the situation continues to deteriorate, the organizers will definitely come to pick me up. Besides, to be honest, I’m really fed up with this barren planet…”

Whether Meng’s words were sincere or just meant to comfort everyone, after hearing them, no one felt good. It’s worth noting that participating in this program itself was an extremely difficult thing, and everyone participating surely had their own wishes to fulfill. But if they were to withdraw directly at this time, it would be a great pity.

At that moment, everyone except Su Ge was feeling very down.

Su Ge rolled her eyes. “Come on, tone down those negative emotions. It’s not like we’re at the point of life and death. Why are you all acting like you’re at a funeral?”

Although Su Ge’s words were a bit harsh, Lana still caught a different meaning from them. Her eyes suddenly lit up. “Do you have a solution?” But then she realized something, and her once bright eyes dimmed. She shook her head to herself. “No, how could there be a solution? If Rong Shi can’t do anything, what can you, an Earthling, possibly do?”

Su Ge had heard too many comments about how Earthlings were incapable, how they were terrible. It had become so commonplace that she had gone from initially feeling angry to now being indifferent. However, she still gave Lana a faint glance. “If I have a solution, you owe me an apology.”

Lana was stunned. She didn’t know how to express the conflicting emotions in her heart for a moment, so she just stood there, bewildered. Su Ge didn’t need to hear Lana’s thoughts. She had already turned her head to look at the visibly distressed Meng.

She stated the current problem earnestly and cautiously. “Your current situation is very bad. Do you understand?”

Meng’s head felt heavy, but he hadn’t completely lost consciousness. He made an effort to open his eyes and looked at Su Ge beside him. He nodded, indicating that he understood what Su Ge meant.

Su Ge continued, “There’s no medicine available right now, but I have some methods from Earth that we can try. Are you willing?”

Meng’s eyes widened a bit more. In this moment, what fell into his eyes was the face of a strange species, but her jet-black pupils seemed to emit a light. Her calm face seemed to carry a powerful soothing ability, all of which began to gradually calm Meng’s frantic heart.

He nodded again.

This was an interstellar program, and not just any interstellar program but one with extremely high ratings. Whatever happened before was usually trivial; people would argue and then laugh it off. But this time was different.

Standing before Su Ge was an individual. Despite their different race, they were a living, breathing being with their own history, family, and even a bright future. The crucial point was that this person was from the Monier planet, which was a Class II planet with a strength close to a Class I planet. Mishandling this situation could lead to a lot of trouble.

Her home planet Earth was a Class V planet, a planet that hoped to raise its profile in this program to bring development to Earth. Although the production team kept saying that the rules meant nothing happening on this barren planet would affect interplanetary relations, who knew what the real situation was?

Su Ge had considered these things before speaking, but when she truly met those eyes, she felt that interplanetary interests were insignificant.

What did they matter compared to being able to live healthily?

Meng had suffered serious injuries, but for Su Ge, they weren’t necessarily beyond her capabilities to handle. She had practiced martial arts since childhood, starting with learning how to treat external wounds, all to develop her self-defense skills. From a young age, she had been abandoned by her elders and left to fend for herself in the wilderness, where she encountered more dangers and sustained more injuries. It was with these skills that she managed to live a relatively peaceful life until now.

The only question now was: Did aliens have the same bodily structure as humans on Earth?

“I’m from Earth, so I’m unfamiliar with the interstellar alliance’s treatment methods. All I know are Earthling methods, which might be quite painful. Are you willing to give it a try?” Su Ge asked Meng’s opinion before making a final decision, giving herself an escape route. If Meng declined because of her Earthling status, then Su Ge’s internal dilemma would simply continue. But if Meng agreed…

If a person from an advanced planet was willing to trust her, why shouldn’t she trust herself for once?

Meng didn’t immediately respond this time. He lay weakly by the campfire, his pair of green eyes quietly fixed on Su Ge. After a while, he smiled. “So this is how Earthlings are.”

His voice was faint, and it was unclear what he meant by that remark. But then Meng added, “Thank you, Earthling. I’m willing to give it a try. I’ll trouble you.”

Upon hearing this, a stone that had been hanging in Su Ge’s heart finally dropped. She silently told herself, see, even fate allows you to try, so just give it a shot.

When Rong Shi heard that Su Ge wanted to try, a strange contradiction arose in his heart. He rarely cared about anyone, but he would occasionally prioritize Su Ge’s well-being.

It was as if, now that Su Ge had made this decision, Rong Shi was more aware than Su Ge herself of what that decision represented. In his innermost thoughts, Rong Shi actually wanted to stop Su Ge, but as part of the entire program, as a person, he also hoped that Su Ge would do something. In this conflict, he impulsively spoke up, “It’s okay, give it a try. If it really doesn’t work out, I will withdraw and ask the organizers to come over…”

Su Ge was extremely surprised by Rong Shi’s words. She looked up at him, her eyes full of disbelief.

She didn’t dare to think about it, was this alien concerned that she might not manage it well and cause trouble between the two planets? Though she found her own amazing idea hard to believe, it brought her heart some comfort. She smiled at Rong Shi and said, “It’s okay.”

The moment those words escaped Rong Shi’s lips; he instantly realized his impulsiveness. He wasn’t one to act without thinking. Even though joining this program was his choice, his nature dictated that if he committed to something, he’d give it his all. This sudden urge to withdraw halfway was out of character for him, making it feel incredibly unreal.

He couldn’t quite figure out what he was being impulsive about right now. When it was necessary, he needed to sit down and think it through. But not now.

Now, Rong Shi nodded to Su Ge and asked, “So what’s the first step?”

In fact, it wasn’t just Rong Shi who was curious; all the aliens present were now anxiously looking on Su Ge. Their eyes conveyed suspicion, anxiety, anticipation, but above all, concern.
