Chapter 231: So This is What It Feels Like (Eighth Update)
But Long Qingyue only sighed briefly. She raised the teacup she had just used for drinking water, intending to take another sip, but noticed another cup on the table.
This was the cup Ye Wenxin used, and although it bore no marks, Long Qingyue found herself entranced by it.
She gazed at it, then involuntarily lifted the cup, mimicking the way Ye Wenxin drank tea, gently touching the spot where Ye Wenxin’s lips might have touched.
“So this, is what a kiss feels like,” Long Qingyue said. She then recalled Ye Wenxin’s earlier touches, and the moment when Ye Wenxin squeezed her calf, making her hand holding the cup tremble even more.
However, she managed to keep her expression composed and turned to the black cat, asking, “Big Baby, do you think I should tell Wenxin that I used the forbidden technique?”
The black cat stared with its blood-red eyes. They were meant to be intimidating, but it seemed to be trying to convey its cuteness to Long Qingyue.
“You’d better stop blinking like that. It’s fine with me, but if you scare the other Secret Guards, they might think you’re hungry and about to eat someone again.”
The black cat let out a disgruntled meow in protest at its mistress’s teasing.
Long Qingyue had already put down the cup but continued to stare at it, saying, “It’s better not to tell Wenxin. If I tell her… I…” (TL: Omg, is bestie…?)
The rest of her words became inaudible. The black cat, uninterested in Long Qingyue’s muttering, found a comfortable spot and closed its eyes to sleep again.
……
In the meantime, after Xiao Zhang had hurriedly escorted Ye Wenxin back to the true disciple’s dormitory, she left without lingering.
Ye Wenxin sighed with relief and walked towards the garden. She saw Gu Xiangsi, and finally understood why Xiao Zhang hadn’t stayed.
“Senior Sister Xiangsi,” she greeted.
The awkward part was that, as Ye Wenxin had joined Jin Xiaoqin’s tutelage later than Gu Xiangsi, she had suddenly become Gu Xiangsi’s junior sister.
Ye Wenxin’s relationship with Gu Xiangsi remained lukewarm as always, but lately, Gu Xiangsi seemed to have become much more disciplined.
“Why are you back so late?” However, Ye Wenxin noticed that Gu Xiangsi was merely pretending to be more disciplined. Deep down, she was still the same clingy younger sister.
“Was chatting with a friend and lost track of time.” Ye Wenxin offered a casual excuse.
However, Gu Xiangsi’s displeasure grew as she said, “I’ve asked Baili Mu.”
“I might have other friends too,” Ye Wenxin said, feeling a little helpless.
She didn’t dare get too close to Gu Xiangsi, afraid Gu Xiangsi would notice the lingering scents on her, especially the smell of blood.
Ye Wenxin was very worried that Gu Xiangsi would realize she had been killing people.
“I’ve also asked Huang Hanyan,” Gu Xiangsi added, effortlessly naming another person.
“I was with—”
“Long Qing’er too, and I even checked with our master.”
Gu Xiangsi successfully exhausted all of Ye Wenxin’s excuses, leaving her at a loss for words.
Gu Xiangsi, adopting the air of a senior sister, continued, “Junior Sister, don’t forget the fundamental principles of us cultivators. You can’t keep associating with such shady people.”
Gu Xiangsi was quite displeased. Ye Wenxin, finding her tone too odd, said weakly, “Xiangsi, can you speak normally? This tone is too unsettling.”
Gu Xiangsi was momentarily stunned, then finally cleared her throat and returned to her usual speech.
She looked at Ye Wenxin with confusion. “Sis, don’t I sound like Fairy Fengya when I talk like this?”
Ever since learning that Ye Wenxin had a bit of a crush on Fairy Fengya, Gu Xiangsi had been trying hard to imitate her.
“If Fairy Fengya knew you were imitating her so poorly, she’d definitely want to beat you up.” Ye Wenxin considered Gu Xiangsi’s current behavior and couldn’t help but add another comment.
Gu Xiangsi still looked puzzled, not understanding what Ye Wenxin meant. But as she was about to say something more, Ye Wenxin had already walked past her and left.
“Sis, wait for me…” Gu Xiangsi trailed off as Ye Wenxin not only left but also closed the door, denying Gu Xiangsi the chance to enter the room and share the bed with her.
But at that same moment, Ye Wenxin’s relaxed features tightened once again.
As if the world thought she wasn’t busy enough, just as she entered the room, she caught a faint whiff of blood. Not only that, as she closed the door, a dagger silently pressed against her neck.
“Don’t make a sound, or I’ll kill you.” The voice was unfamiliar.
Ye Wenxin thought it over carefully. She’d just dealt with Su Mei, so, at this moment, who could possibly show up in her room?
Ye Wenxin subconsciously shifted her gaze, and saw a person cloaked in black, their features completely concealed. She subtly leaned closer to the woman, feigning nonchalance, and detected the scent of herbs mixed with blood.
Clearly, the smell of blood came from her. But how did this person find her, and why?
“Can we talk this out?”
“Shut up!”
The woman’s angry response indicated a fiery temper. Ye Wenxin obediently closed her mouth, eager to know why this demon sect cultivator had come to find her.
As Gu Xiangsi’s footsteps faded away, the woman heaved a sigh of relief, and then struck Ye Wenxin’s abdomen. Ye Wenxin didn’t resist, and the woman coldly said, “Hmph, if you don’t want to die, hurry and give me something to eat!”
What a childish threat. Ye Wenxin thought of the dry rations she still had in her bag of holding and reluctantly offered them to the woman.
Immediately after, the woman repeated her tactics and threatened Ye Wenxin again.
“If you don’t want to die, come over here and apply medicine for me!” With that, she opened her cloak, revealing the sword wounds on her body.
Feeling helpless, Ye Wenxin took out the Golden Wound Medicine and applied it to her wounds.
Death was one thing, but Ye Wenxin was very curious about this cultivator’s purpose, and decided to let her live a little longer.
“If you don’t want to die, give me the bed to sleep in,” the woman threatened again, but this time, Ye Wenxin pretended not to hear and simply went to sleep. (TL: Lol)
Seemingly unable to do anything about Ye Wenxin, the woman stomped her foot in frustration before climbing onto the bed herself.
However, she didn’t lie down completely. Instead, she sat there, gathering her strength.
Ye Wenxin couldn’t be bothered. She figured the demon cultivator would probably disappear by morning, so she closed her eyes and went to sleep.
However, to her surprise, the woman hadn’t left by morning. Not only that, but her wounds had also become infected, causing her to develop a fever.
“If you don’t want to die, then save me!” The woman still had a fierce demeanor.
Ye Wenxin couldn’t understand if this person had deliberately come to seduce her because of her Peach Blossom Curse, or if they knew each other.
Nevertheless, Ye Wenxin realized she was too idle. Since a live specimen had come knocking on her door, she began to take the woman’s pulse, administer medication, and gleefully busied herself.
