Chapter 8: Gu Chengfeng is very hot
The saleswoman quickly took down the coat and held it in front of Shen Sisi, winking repeatedly: “Comrade, I envy you, you have such a generous and caring partner.”
Shen Sisi didn’t know how to respond to that.
So she just smiled and awkwardly put on the red woolen coat.
It looked surprisingly good on her.
The red color complemented her skin, making her already fair face even whiter, and her whole person seemed to glow.
The style was also very good, not bulky at all, instead making her shoulders straight and her figure slender.
In short, it was beautiful.
Like a completely different person.
Shen Sisi looked at herself in the mirror with emotion, it had been a long time since she had worn such nice clothes.
The last time was when her parents were still alive.
As Shen Sisi looked in the mirror, Gu Chengfeng’s gaze followed her, his eyes shining with excitement.
Before Shen Sisi could react, he winked at the saleswoman: “This one, let’s go.”
“What?” Shen Sisi quickly waved her hands, wanting to take it off, but his large hand pressed hers.
“Your clothes are old, don’t wear them anymore.”
Shen Sisi pursed her lips. Was he ashamed of her?
But it was true, she was going to live in the military compound with Gu Chengfeng, wearing such shabby clothes wouldn’t be good for his image.
So she could only nod, her throat dry as she thanked him.
Before the “thank you” was fully out of her mouth, Gu Chengfeng moved to the children’s clothing counter.
The saleswoman was observant, she quickly ran to the children’s section.
“Is it for your daughter? She’s so pretty…” She smiled at Niu Niu, showering her with praise.
The little girl was indeed pretty, but she looked sickly.
Her face was pale and thin, her hair like little blades of grass. Her clothes were old and patched, but clean and neat, with a faint scent of soap.
Gu Chengfeng nodded, softly asking Niu Niu: “Sweetheart, tell Daddy which one you like.”
The word “Daddy” came naturally, making Shen Sisi blush.
Niu Niu’s eyes lit up. Children didn’t overthink things, she pointed directly at a red coat with pink plum blossoms.
Gu Chengfeng asked softly: “You like it?”
Niu Niu pouted, timidly looking at Shen Sisi.
This time, Shen Sisi didn’t refuse, and nodded in agreement to Niu Niu.
Niu Niu suddenly relaxed, boldly pointing at the red coat.
“It’s pretty, Niu Niu likes it!”
Gu Chengfeng’s features instantly brightened, he readily waved his hand: “Let’s buy it! Let’s get Niu Niu to change too.”
Niu Niu hugged him, overjoyed: “Thank you, Daddy!”
Gu Chengfeng’s smile reached his eyes, his usually cold face showing a fatherly tenderness.
He didn’t hesitate, buying things for the mother and daughter without a second thought, but didn’t buy anything for himself.
Shen Sisi watched, her eyes scanning the surrounding counters.
Estimating how much money she had to buy something for Gu Chengfeng.
Gu Chengfeng seemed to be on a shopping spree, striding towards the scarves.
Seeing him about to spend more money, Shen Sisi caught up, stopping him, pointing to two red scarves, one large and one small: “I’ll buy these two.”
Gu Chengfeng raised an eyebrow, she said urgently: “As… as my wedding gift!”
The words “wedding gift” made her blush.
They hadn’t even filed a report, gotten a marriage certificate, or met each other’s families. Saying this, wouldn’t he think she was frivolous?
Even if he did, Shen Sisi would insist on paying, using her own money to buy the scarves for him.
This was her dignity in this marriage!
Hearing “wedding gift,” Gu Chengfeng’s eyes lit up, the corners of his mouth curving upwards.
His calloused hand unconsciously touched the soft scarf, his eyes shining with pleasure.
“This is the first time you’ve given me a gift…”
Shen Sisi thought for a moment, was it the first time? It seemed it was!
Compared to Gu Chengfeng’s many purchases, her gift was insignificant.
Hopefully, he wouldn’t dislike it.
She paid for the scarves first, then Gu Chengfeng went to pay for the rest.
Buying all these things almost used up all the money, coupons, and tickets he had brought.
Shen Sisi felt it was a waste, these tickets and money would have lasted her a year in the countryside.
He seemed calm, counting the tickets one by one.
Indeed, men who don’t manage the household don’t know the value of money.
Shen Sisi didn’t know when she became so frugal, saving every penny.
She only remembered that when her parents were alive, she didn’t really care about money, she could buy whatever she wanted.
But later…
Sigh, she had spent so much money today, causing Gu Chengfeng to spend a fortune.
She felt increasingly guilty. She was penniless, couldn’t give Gu Chengfeng anything, only these two red scarves.
Once they got to the city, she would find a way to make money, and then give him the best.
Because he deserved it!
Gu Chengfeng paid, carrying the bags in one hand and Niu Niu in the other.
He glanced at the two identical scarves, his cold face melting like ice in the sun.
He walked to Shen Sisi, his eyes raised, revealing a section of his wheat-colored neck.
His neck was long and strong, his Adam’s apple prominent, making one want to kiss it.
Shen Sisi swallowed, her heart beating faster.
Gu Chengfeng pursed his lips, indicating that he couldn’t free his hands: “Won’t you help me put it on?”
She fumbled, nervously unfolding the scarf, awkwardly putting it around his neck.
Except for Niu Niu, she had never helped anyone put on a scarf, let alone a man.
Shen Sisi unconsciously leaned closer, only half a foot between them, getting closer and closer…
It was winter, the shop wasn’t warm, but Gu Chengfeng was hot.
The heat mixed with his scent, aggressively enveloping her.
She discovered for the first time that a man’s body could be so hot, so hot that… her palms were sweating, and she was slightly sweaty.
Gu Chengfeng’s face showed no emotion, but the corners of his mouth curled upwards, his body leaning unconsciously towards Shen Sisi.
It was just putting on a scarf, yet both of them were blushing and sweating.
Shen Sisi’s fingers moved quickly, smoothing out the wrinkles of the scarf, feeling as tired as if she had been picking cotton all day.
But looking at her “work,” she was happy.
The scarf suited him, making him look energetic. Who says men can’t wear red and green?
Gu Chengfeng looked at himself in the mirror, his gaze falling on the carefully arranged scarf, smiling at Shen Sisi: “You put yours on too!”
Along the way, Gu Chengfeng carried the gifts in one hand and the child in the other, occasionally glancing at their matching red scarves, his face full of spring sunshine.
Shen Sisi wanted to carry things, but he refused. She wanted to hold the child, but he wouldn’t let go.
She hadn’t felt so relaxed in a long time. All the way to her aunt’s house, the neighbors’ eyes widened when they saw them.
“Isn’t that Shilan’s niece?”
“Did she find someone?”
“A soldier?”
“Tsk tsk, finding a man really makes a difference. This is quite a show, it looks like a marriage proposal!”
People watched them like monkeys, whispering among themselves.
This rare event would be a topic of conversation for a while.
Look, an unmarried mother with a child, could find such a good man, how amazing!
Being pretty really makes a difference.
A vixen’s methods are indeed skillful!
