Chapter 16: Broad shoulders and narrow waist, showing flesh when undressing
Under the dim light, Shen Sisi was very close.
A strand of loose hair fell from her forehead, brushing against her fair, delicate face. Her curved willow eyebrows and clear apricot eyes were captivating.
Gu Chengfeng lowered his gaze, his eyes sweeping over her brows and eyes, pausing slightly at her moist lips.
Then, his ears flushed red.
“Are you alright?” Shen Sisi saw how hot he looked, his wheat-colored skin flushed.
“Nothing, I’ll boil some water.” Gu Chengfeng hurriedly turned and went to the yard to chop wood.
Seeing his hasty retreat, Shen Sisi suddenly realized.
He must be shy!
She quickly shook her head, dismissing these thoughts.
Under the moonlight, Gu Chengfeng took off his coat, wearing a close-fitting black sweater, swinging his axe.
With a forceful swing, the muscles under his sweater bulged.
Broad shoulders, narrow waist, muscular but not exaggerated, full of masculinity.
In a short while, the stove was hot, and the water in the pot began to boil.
Shen Sisi took off her coat and carried a bucket of water to bathe Niu Niu.
Niu Niu was very happy today, and was restless during her bath, splashing water on Shen Sisi.
As she came out with the wet little girl, she bumped into Gu Chengfeng, unexpectedly pressing against his hard chest.
Gu Chengfeng quickly steadied her: “Are you alright?”
As soon as he finished speaking, his eyes, glancing downwards, unintentionally caught sight of her pressed chest, widening instantly.
Shen Sisi’s clothes…
The overly white image, a single glance, made him feel hot and his blood rush.
He quickly looked away.
Shen Sisi, seeing his discomfort, looked down, and almost jumped!
Her white shirt was wet, transparent as paper.
So, he had seen everything…
Shen Sisi felt dizzy, fleeing with Niu Niu.
Only after putting Niu Niu to sleep did she change her clothes and cautiously come out.
Gu Chengfeng felt hot and uncomfortable, taking a cold shower.
The icy water, touching his hot skin, turned into steam.
He couldn’t stay in the house, so Gu Chengfeng went out for a walk, returning only after cooling down.
When they met, they tacitly avoided mentioning what had happened, trying to ease the awkwardness.
“I’m done, I boiled another pot of water, go wash up!”
“By the way, take this.”
Gu Chengfeng took a bar of soap wrapped in oiled paper from his pocket.
“Okay.” Shen Sisi lowered her head, carefully taking it.
He had specially bought soap for her…
Shen Sisi held the soap to her nose and smelled it. It was her favorite magnolia scent, very refreshing.
“Thank you, Gu Chengfeng.”
She ran off, and a mumbled voice came from behind: “Um, I really didn’t see anything.”
Shen Sisi felt embarrassed, wanting to disappear.
Forget it, let’s pretend he didn’t see anything…………
Shen Sisi soaked in the hot water, washing away the smell of the train and her fatigue.
With the faint scent of magnolia, she couldn’t believe that she was still in Lin County this morning, and now in Jiangcheng.
That night, she slept soundly…
The next day, before dawn, she heard the distant reveille.
There were rustling sounds outside, the door opening and closing.
She yawned, getting up and putting on her clothes.
Gu Chengfeng’s room door was open, his bed neatly made, he was gone.
Shen Sisi felt regretful, she should have gotten up earlier to make breakfast.
He shouldn’t have left without eating.
Shen Sisi washed her face and carefully applied some snow cream.
She quickly braided her long hair into a braid, hanging down her chest.
No matter how tired she was, Shen Sisi always lived meticulously, never neglecting herself or Niu Niu.
Looking at herself in the mirror, without makeup yet radiant, she got up and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.
The new house didn’t have many ingredients, besides oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar, only a few eggs.
She and Niu Niu each ate a bowl of golden boiled eggs, then, holding hands, went out with a basket.
Planning to go to the nearby supply and marketing cooperative and the black market to buy some things, and also look for ways to make money.
Although she had Gu Chengfeng’s passbook, she couldn’t touch that money.
As for the seven hundred yuan dowry, she would find a way to return it to Gu Chengfeng.
She didn’t have much money left, she was really struggling.
Rather than relying on Gu Chengfeng, Shen Sisi wanted to rely on herself, to earn money with her own hands.
She locked the courtyard door and took Niu Niu to the early market.
People who saw her gave her admiring glances.
When did such a beautiful woman come to the military compound?
Her face was fair and clean, her features bright and generous, giving off a natural beauty.
Her movements were graceful and elegant, a little aloof, looking like someone from a wealthy family.
She was holding a thin little child.
Whose military wife was this, why had they never seen her before?
Feeling their curious and friendly gazes, Shen Sisi smiled politely.
Over the years, she had lost the desire to interact with people, a nod was enough.
After all… few people could accept someone like her.
Shen Sisi didn’t stop, quickly walking past.
On the street, many workers were already going to work.
She asked someone about the black market, it was quite far, by the river at the south gate, requiring a ferry.
Jiangcheng was an ancient city, with the Nanjiang River running through it, dividing the city into north and south.
The military compound was near the old north gate.
The black market and various people were mainly concentrated in the south gate.
The fastest way to travel from north to south was by ferry.
Shen Sisi had never taken a ferry before, finding it novel.
The ferry ran every 10 minutes, a traditional large wooden boat, carrying over 30 people, a ticket costing 3 cents, like a water bus.
Shen Sisi sat in the back with Niu Niu, looking at the sparkling river, the passing cargo and fishing boats, feeling very happy.
“Mommy, the big boat is moving, it’s fun…” Niu Niu was excited, her eyes wide, everything was new to her.
As the boat reached the middle of the river, a wave suddenly hit, the boat swayed, and an old lady next to Shen Sisi almost fell into the water.
“Careful!” Shen Sisi reacted quickly, grabbing her.
