If she hadn’t read the original novel, Lin Wanjun might very well have been fooled by Bai Guixiang’s masterful acting skills.
Tsk, what a waste she didn’t become an actress!
Heart and soul, precious darling? Tch, more like using her own daughter as a money tree and personal ATM. Planning to sell her daughter off a second time just so her precious Yaozu can get a betrothal gift to marry a wife?
Pah—your grandfather!
Li Yuetang felt an ache deep in her heart, yet she didn’t utter a single word.
Yes, Bai Guixiang’s words were harsh, but she wasn’t wrong. No matter what choice Lin Wanjun made, she would respect and support it.
Lin Wanjun kept smiling cheerfully. She walked up to Lin Yaozu and tapped his chubby, fleshy face with the back scratcher.
Startled, Yaozu immediately clutched his head with both hands and couldn’t help but cry out for his mother.
“Tsk, what’s this? Is your big sister really that scary?”
Seeing her precious son being bullied, the “kind mother” from a moment ago, Bai Guixiang, immediately changed her face. She shoved Lin Wanjun away.
“What are you doing? You scared Yaozu! He’s still just a child!”
Eighteen years old. Two hundred pounds. And you’ve got the nerve to call that a child?
That’s an insult to the very word “child”—pah!
He’s still just a child? All the more reason not to let him off!
“Just now… which hand did you use to shove my mother-in-law? Hmm?”
From over Bai Guixiang’s shoulder, Lin Wanjun flicked the back scratcher right across Lin Yaozu’s mouth. Her voice rose slightly, laced with a faint edge of killing intent.
“In this house, even my father-in-law wouldn’t dare lay a finger on my mother-in-law. And what the hell do you think you are?”
Back in the real world, Lin Wanjun had trained in judo for a full ten years. From primary school to high school, her mother had forced her to keep up boxing practice, rain or shine.
Born in a peaceful society, she’d never had the chance to put her skills to use—who would have thought that in this “transmigration novel” world, the extracurricular training would finally pay off?
When Bai Guixiang came charging at her, shrieking about teaching her a lesson, Lin Wanjun easily flipped her to the ground. And when Lin Guoqian rushed in to punish his “unfilial daughter,” he too was sent flying with a single over-the-shoulder throw.
At this moment, only the trembling Yaozu was left facing the fierce, intimidating Lin Wanjun.
“Can’t remember which hand you used to push my mother-in-law? Then I’ll just have to attack indiscriminately!”
Lin Wanjun grabbed the back scratcher and smacked it hard across Lin Yaozu’s hand. The crisp crack—like fresh bamboo shoots hitting the wok—made him howl like a ghost being exorcised.
“Cry, cry, cry—that’s all you know how to do! What, holding a funeral here? You’re noisy enough to wake the dead!”
Seeing Yaozu bawling with his mouth wide open, Lin Wanjun deftly shoved the back scratcher straight into his mouth again.
“Too loud. How about big sis helps you mute yourself, hmm?”
Sure enough, Yaozu couldn’t cry anymore—only let out muffled, pained “mmph, mmph” noises. Tears, snot, and drool ran down together, and his pants were wet too.
By the end, Yaozu’s defenses collapsed entirely. He dropped to his knees and sobbed for mercy.
“I was wrong! I’ll never dare again!”
Lin Wanjun kicked him in the face.
“What are you kneeling to me for? Kneel to my mother-in-law and apologize!”
Yaozu turned toward Li Yuetang, kowtowing three times in a row, crying so hard bubbles formed in his snot.
At that moment, Li Yuetang was stunned, shocked, and—her heart was racing.
She knew her daughter-in-law wasn’t someone to be trifled with, but she hadn’t expected her to be this formidable.
That was some seriously ruthless handiwork.
And when she fought—she truly recognized no kinship.
Still… she had to admit, seeing her vent their anger this way was downright satisfying.
“Kowtow! Keep kowtowing! Don’t stop until my mother-in-law forgives you!”
Lin Wanjun pressed down hard on Lin Yaozu’s head, forcing him to bow again and again like some kind of kowtowing machine, thunk thunk thunk against the floor.
Bai Guixiang and Lin Guoqian, desperate to save their precious son, tried to rush in—but Lin Wanjun glared at them like a raging tigress.
“Take one step, and he’ll cry even louder!”
Hearing their son wailing like a slaughtered pig, the couple froze in place, not daring to move, only pleading with Li Yuetang to show mercy.
Li Yuetang was a kindhearted person—and besides, the Lin and Song families were still in-laws.
“Jun Jun, that’s enough.”
She said gently, “It’s a troubled time. Let them go.”
With her mother-in-law giving the word, Lin Wanjun finally let go of Lin Yaozu and, with a few more kicks and shoves, drove the three members of the Lin family out the door.
“If I ever see you again, I’ll beat you again—every single time!”
Standing at the doorway, she gave a fierce warning to the Lin family, who were fleeing in utter disgrace.
Just as she was about to turn and go back inside, a figure suddenly flashed by at the corner.
It was only for an instant, but Lin Wanjun still caught it clearly.
It was Dong Yingying!
So that was it—if no one had tipped them off, how could those three stupid pigs from the Lin family have possibly found this place?
Realizing this, Lin Wanjun didn’t get angry.
From her God’s-eye view of the whole situation, she could understand Dong Yingying’s actions. After all, in Dong Yingying’s mind, she was still the ultimate villain who committed every imaginable evil.
In the original storyline, after the Song family fell into ruin, the female supporting character returned to her parents’ home in tears, begging for help. She was then urged to divorce, seize the property, and seamlessly remarry.
Dong Yingying must have given the Lin family the address to this little house in an attempt to put the derailed plot back on track—so that the Song family could be rid of a threat.
But she certainly wouldn’t have expected that the “vicious female supporting role” had already been replaced.
Still, if Dong Yingying acted so recklessly, things might end up just like in the original story, with the Dong family getting dragged down and sent away as well.
Mm. She couldn’t allow Dong Yingying to ruin her grand plan.
Before long, Song Mingcheng and Song Zhanjin returned home one after the other. After hearing Li Yuetang’s account, they both turned to look at the “battle hero,” Lin Wanjun.
Song Zhanjin had already witnessed Lin Wanjun’s “ruthless” methods before, so he remained relatively calm. Song Mingcheng, on the other hand, was utterly shocked.
“You’re saying… Junjun… she fought three people at once—and won?”
He’d seen that fat son of the Lin family before. Two hundred pounds of bulk—and yet, with Junjun’s small frame, could she really take that guy on?
Not to mention, the opponents were her own family members.
Li Yuetang sighed. “Those three came with bad intentions. If Junjun hadn’t protected me, I might have…”
Beside them, Lin Wanjun stayed silent, as though she were brewing something in her mind.
Then, without warning, she exploded—launching a flurry of punches and kicks at the completely unprepared Song Zhanjin.
“Have you been meeting with Miss Dong again? Still can’t get her out of your mind? What, should we just get divorced so I can help you two fulfill your touching, earth-shattering romance?”
Song Zhanjin was left completely bewildered and helpless, enduring her fierce blows while trying to squeeze in a defense.
“What now? How did this suddenly turn into being about Dong Yingying again?”
Li Yuetang also stepped forward to calm her daughter-in-law, speaking gently. “Didn’t we already clear up that misunderstanding before? Zhanjin has nothing to do with Dong Yingying.”
“Nothing to do with her? Then how did Dong Yingying know where we live? Did you secretly meet her and tell her? If she hadn’t stirred things up, how would the Lin family have come here looking for trouble?”
With no warning, Lin Wanjun burst into tears.
“That’s right, I’m useless. I wasn’t born into a good family. Dong Yingying just wants to make a fool out of me, humiliate me, and force me to leave on my own, isn’t that it?”
“Fine, I’ll leave. I’ll go right now. I’ll give her the space she wants!”
Crying as she spoke, Lin Wanjun stood up to leave, but Song Zhanjin grabbed her arm before she could move and pulled her into his arms.
“Give her space? You’re my wife. You’re not going anywhere!”
The tighter Song Zhanjin held her, the more fiercely Lin Wanjun struggled—smearing her tears and snot all over his clothes.
Li Yuetang, seething with anger, immediately pulled her husband Song Mingcheng out the door to confront Dong Yingying.
What followed was another noisy, chaotic quarrel. Even Song Mingcheng, angered by his daughter-in-law being repeatedly bullied, spoke harshly to Dong Xiaoguo, warning him to keep his daughter in check.
In the end, those who had suspected any hidden ties between Dong Xiaoguo and the Song family dropped their doubts and stopped investigating the Dong family altogether—leaving the Dongs completely in the clear.
