In “Wilderness Livestream”, you could say it’s truly heartless, regardless of which episode, they just throw a bunch of anxious people from various planets onto a completely unfamiliar planet, and if they’re lucky, the external environment of this planet might resemble the home planet of one of the participants, which would significantly lower the difficulty of this round. But if the external environment of this planet in this round is not familiar to any participant…
Then they’re on their own.
But to say this show lacks humanity to the extreme, that’s not entirely true. At least in this show, each participant’s home planet sends them supplies three times to alleviate their difficulties, respectively after the first month on the wild planet, after the fourth month, and after the eighth month.
Although they can send supplies, what supplies to send also matters.
The first rule for sending supplies is that they must only send what exists on the wild planet.
To give a simple example, if this time’s episode draws a planet abandoned due to war, a planet that once had an advanced civilization and technology, then the supplies sent by each participant’s home planet can have all the technological products existing under this civilization on the wild planet, but cannot send products beyond this civilization and technology.
To put it bluntly, if there are simple aircraft on this wild planet, then you can send tools and materials to make these simple aircraft fly again, but you can’t directly send aircraft.
Similarly, what can be sent on the wilderness where Su Ge is currently?
Other participants from different planets might not know, but Su Ge is quite hopeful about what her home planet can send, after all, the external environment of Wild Star 756 is so similar to Earth. In this case, what Earth can send can solve many urgent problems.
Su Ge sincerely looks forward to this, and so do other aliens.
However, their expectations were soon dashed.
Just the day after Su Ge and Rong Shi muttered about when the supplies would be sent, they all received a devastating message from the tracker.
Because they currently don’t have a safety zone, supplies from various planets cannot be delivered. Now, only when they quickly determine this safety point and establish a simple base, will the organizers send supplies for them.
After hearing this news, almost all the participants cursed the organizers bitterly; this was simply incompetence.
Unfortunately, cursing didn’t change anything; they couldn’t change any of the organizers’ rules. In the end, everyone had to continue on the road, hoping to complete the entire Wild Star 756 as soon as possible, map out the entire wilderness, and find a suitable safe point to rebuild their safe point.
Although the issue of delivering supplies made everyone unhappy, three days later, after Su Ge and her team left the forest on the nineteenth day, they finally saw the existence of that forest once again.
This undoubtedly injected a dose of morale into everyone.
That night, they finally stepped into the forest again. Under the vast night sky, they took baths, ate meals, and beside the roaring campfire, everyone felt incredibly relaxed.
Ron took out the notebook in his hand and laid out the maps he had drawn one by one. They began to discuss the most important matter after travelling the entire Wild Star 756—choosing a new safety point.
Compared to any planet or star system with intelligent life, Wild Star 756 was truly insignificant, but for the fifteen participants, this Wild Star 756 was not small at all. Surprisingly, on this not-so-small planet, various intact terrains existed.
Although these terrains were like miniature landscapes compared to those on Earth, they still existed.
Such as tropical rainforests, wetlands, grasslands, deserts, hills and mountains, and even a vast blue ocean.
Based on the different places they had traveled each day, Ron marked various symbols on the map he drew. Moreover, to facilitate detailed exploration in the future, they would leave corresponding marks in each area they passed using stones, trees, and so on. Of course, these marks matched exactly with those on Ron’s map.
So now everyone only needed to choose a safe point easily according to the map in Ron’s hand.
During these nineteen days of progress, everyone had gained a visual understanding of Wild Star 756, and they had continuously asked Su Ge about various situations on Earth to use as criteria for their final location judgment.
“What is the most prosperous terrain on Earth?” Flynn, a construction professional, asked Su Ge after listening to Ron explain the differences in each map.
Su Ge didn’t even need to think much about this. After all, the geography learned since childhood clearly explained this question: “It’s the plains.”
“What kind of plain?”
“In simple terms, it’s a plain area through which rivers pass, and it needs to be covered with vegetation.” Su Ge summarized the environments of the three major plains in China seriously.
“Then according to these criteria, we can choose from these three.” Flynn selected three areas from the maps drawn by Ron, and all three areas met Su Ge’s requirements.
Then everyone started discussing which one was more suitable.
“I feel that map number 14 is more suitable because along this route, Lana is mainly responsible for picking various wild vegetables and herbs. We found that the vegetables and herbs on this piece of land grow denser than those on maps number 7 and number 12. Moreover, they are more vibrant.” Yilan, who had been with Su Ge for a long time, often used special terms from China on Earth, which sounded interesting.
Lana also agreed very much with this point, nodding continuously: “And we’ve checked according to Su Ge and Flynn’s method, the mud on this land is the sticky kind, the texture is more solid than the mud on the other two pieces of land, especially on map number 7, there is too much sand in the mud, it disperses at a touch, I think it’s not very good.”
“I also agree more with map number 14. Although it’s flat, it still has a slight slope. We can completely avoid the river.” Zigmadar also expressed his opinion.
“But don’t you think this place is a bit far from the forest? The nearest forest from this map would take at least two or three hours to walk. If we choose this land as a safe point, getting the wood we need for building houses would be troublesome.” Saro compared the three maps: “Look, the forests on the other two maps are right next to the plain.”
“Then we can build the house closer to the forest, what’s so difficult about that.” Narita felt that Saro really lacked flexibility: “Anyway, it’s all open land in the middle, it doesn’t matter where we build the house.”
…
With such a start of the discussion, everyone began to express their opinions. At first, it was a back-and-forth, but in the end, everyone was almost arguing, while Su Ge and Flynn were quietly listening to everyone’s opinions and recording them.
Everyone’s perspective was different, so the information they provided was also different, and these differences in information often became the final basis for choosing the safe point.
When almost everyone was about to start fighting, Rong Shi finally spoke up and stopped everyone. In these more than ten days of traveling together, Rong Shi’s position as the team leader had been recognized by everyone.
If we were to say, before entering this program, how much his potential as a leader was related to his original status, then after these days of getting along, it’s rather the reasons for his status that have been completely diminished. In the exploration of the Wild Star 756 over these past dozen days, every time everyone encountered danger, they ultimately escaped relying on Rong Shi and Su Ge’s calm cooperation and strong combat abilities.
Not to mention, Rong Shi being a soldier, and moreover, a soldier of significant position within the Imperial Royal Army, his foresight and leadership abilities are incomparable to ordinary people. So, by now, his position as the team leader is well deserved.
Even though everyone was about to escalate from arguing to physical confrontation over the residence site, Rong Shi merely gestured, and everyone quieted down like quails.
He said, “I believe Flynn has already received everyone’s suggestions. I trust each person has their preferences for the safe point. However, for the sake of everyone’s safety, and especially to prevent a recurrence of the initial situation where our chosen safe point was devastated by floods, the final decision on which location to select as our safe point must still rely on professional advice.”
On this point, everyone agreed, as the fact that the safe point chosen by the organizers was destroyed was a deeply unsettling experience for everyone. No one wanted a repeat of that.
Then Flynn’s final summary came out. He cleared his throat and said, “I’ve heard everyone’s opinions, and Su Ge and I have summarized. In the end, we’ve concluded that map number 14 is the best choice for our safe point.”
“You all already know its advantages. It’s situated in a plain, close to the river, with fertile land. From the traces along the river, it’s unlikely to suffer from flooding. Though it’s a bit far from the forest and building houses might be challenging, that’s manageable. Overall, it’s a map with virtually no drawbacks.”
“So, I’ve decided to choose this map as our safe point.”
After the final conclusion was announced, of course, there were some individuals with lingering regrets, but soon the enthusiasm for discussing how to construct the new safety zone overwhelmed those regrets. Everyone was engulfed in the anticipation of a better tomorrow.
The exhaustion from the long journey, coupled with the excitement about the new safety zone, left everyone too tired, and they all sank into deep slumber inside the cave.
Su Ge let out a yawn, jotting down on her notebook what needed to be done the next day. Rong Shi, who had just finished his rounds outside, saw Su Ge still writing under the flickering light of the campfire and couldn’t help but worry, “You should get some sleep soon; these days have been too hard.”
“It’s just a bit tiring from all the walking but it’s not really hard,” Su Ge replied without lifting her head, continuing to write in her notebook. She had traveled across the entire Wild star 756, documenting various plants and animals. Although the planet had several forests, salt production was only available this time, so they would definitely need to bring a considerable amount of salt tomorrow.
Rong Shi sat opposite Su Ge while silently watching her. There was a melancholic feeling in his heart.
In fact, since their conversation about arrogance that day, Rong Shi felt there was always something between him and Su Ge.
It was different from when they first met; back then, they were both strangers, and their interactions were polite but distant. As they grew more familiar, their conversations and actions were driven more by their interests and thoughts, seemingly without much consideration for anything else.
Until that day…
He thought he was doing what was best for Su Ge, but he never realized that this assumption was actually the biggest damage to their relationship.
These days, they had been getting along well, but there was a certain warmth, politeness, and diplomacy that seemed to have replaced the genuine camaraderie they once shared.
Even Zigmadar, who was usually laid-back and could fly through conversations with ease, noticed something different. He even came over one day and asked, “Rong Shi, what’s going on between you and Su Ge?”
Rong Shi was caught off guard, “What do you mean, ‘what’s going on’?”
Zigmadar scratched the four small bumps on his head, hesitated for a moment, then said, “I just feel like you two had a fight and are now in a cold war, but it doesn’t seem like it, yet it feels odd.” He waved his hand, laughing, “Oh well, just ignore me, I’m just asking randomly.”
After Zigmadar, the gossip king, left, Rong Shi remained standing there, wondering. There must be a significant problem between them for even Zigmadar to notice.
Honestly, up to that moment, Rong Shi hadn’t figured out why Su Ge seemed to affect him differently. Typically, someone in his position wouldn’t let others’ words and actions affect their judgment and mood, but Su Ge was an exception.
Since that conversation that day, Rong Shi had been pondering over Su Ge’s words, even doubting what he had once taken for granted.
As he looked at himself, Su Ge initially tried to continue writing with undivided attention. However, under Rong Shi’s focused gaze, she soon felt unable to proceed. His gaze seemed to carry a burning intensity, almost as if it could ignite her.
Eventually, she stopped writing, lifting her head to meet Rong Shi’s gaze. Indeed, she was met with a pair of intense and earnest eyes. Rong Shi didn’t shy away from their eye contact; instead, upon seeing her look up, his gaze became even more serious.
Under such scrutiny, Su Ge suddenly felt her heart pounding faster in her chest, feeling nervous.
Why was Rongshi staring at her like this? Had she offended him recently? No, no, no, did she offend him today? No, during dinner today, she even specially served him a bowl of chicken soup…
So, what is he trying to achieve with that vengeful look on his face?
Su Ge twitched the corner of her mouth, cleared her throat, trying to calm her rapidly beating heart. “Rong Shi, is there something on your mind?”
Rong Shi seemed to snap out of his reverie only then. He shook his head, but his gaze remained fixed on Su Ge, showing no signs of wavering.
Is there something wrong with me?… Rong Shi’s serious gaze prompted Su Ge to ponder differently. Could it be that she had been too careless lately and had become unpleasant to look at? That couldn’t be true. She had recently bathed with Abing and the others, diligently cleansing herself with soap nuts. She should still be relatively clean…
“Su Ge, I’ve thought about what you said seriously.”
Just as Su Ge was pondering whether she had used enough soap nuts for washing her hair, Rong Shi suddenly spoke up.
“Huh?” Su Ge didn’t even register what Rong Shi was talking about, completely unaware of the topic he was referring to. She slightly parted her lips, looking a bit dumbfounded under the warm glow of the fire.
Maybe it was the deep darkness of the night, or perhaps it was the dim firelight, but as he gazed at her slightly puzzled expression, Rong Shi felt as if his entire body had become numb.
No, that wasn’t entirely accurate.
More accurately, his body seemed to be slowly stiffening at this moment, yet his senses were becoming sharper. He could almost hear his heart beating rapidly in the left side of his chest, he can also hear his blood rushing through his veins, and even feel a fire burning in his throat, turning all his words and thoughts into ashes.
It’s as if everything between heaven and earth has disappeared, and he can only see the person in front of him.
“What are you thinking?” Su Ge blinked, slowly opening her mouth to ask.
There was a persistent rustle in Rong Shi’s ears, blocking out all other sounds until Su Ge’s voice pierced through once more, like a refreshing breeze from the heavens. It wrapped around his awareness, soothing the heat in his body, quieting the noise in his ears, and calming the turbulence in his veins.
It wasn’t until this moment that Rong Shi noticed a thin layer of sweat between his clasped hands. He lowered his eyes, exhaling the breath that had been held in his throat. He listened quietly to his still rapidly beating heart. When he looked up at Su Ge again, he seemed much calmer, but only Rong Shi himself knew that the fire that had ignited within him had not been extinguished.
It may have seemed silent, perhaps unnoticed, buried under the thick ashes, but with the slightest breeze, it would ignite once more.
“You’re right. It’s arrogant to casually point fingers without experiencing the other person’s life.” Rong Shi’s purple eyes reflected the flicker of fire, shimmering, and then the corners of his mouth curled slightly. “No, that’s not the right way to say it. It should be expressed like this: no one has the right to point fingers at another person’s life. We should all be tolerant of everyone’s choices.”
He sighed. “It’s actually a very simple principle. My teacher taught me this since I can remember. I thought I had achieved it, but it wasn’t until you told me that day that I realized, when I thought I had achieved it, that’s when arrogance begins.”
Under the warm glow, Su Ge’s brows and eyes seemed even softer than usual. She tilted her head, hugging her knees, quietly listening to Rong Shi’s words.
Actually, she knew that having this conversation with Rong Shi was meaningless, but in this night, Su Ge suddenly had a feeling that such meaningless conversations with the person opposite her were part of a beautiful life.
Her voice was soft and low, flowing gently like a stream under the moonlight, unwilling to disturb anyone: “Everyone is arrogant, but they can’t accept it when arrogance is placed on themselves. It’s the same for me, it’s the same for you. So, I argued that day, but I didn’t expect you to take it seriously.”
“I take everything you say seriously,” Rong Shi looked at Su Ge, speaking very, very seriously.
It seemed like just a few simple words, but when they fell into Su Ge’s ears, she couldn’t help but feel a bit unsettled.
Is that what she meant to convey?
No, she actually didn’t want to believe that it was her sudden thought. After all, for Su Ge, that meaning was too incredible. Compared to that utterly unreliable idea, Su Ge preferred to believe that Rong Shi valued her as a teammate, so he would seriously consider any opinions from his teammate.
Even though this matter didn’t seem like an opinion at all, more like her venting in anger.
It seemed… something was off, but…
But, then again, it seems like nothing is wrong.
Su Ge tightly pressed her slightly parted lips together. After a few seconds of pause, she finally smiled, “Rong Shi, you’re really a good person.”
Rong Shi: Why do I suddenly feel a sort of unexplainable sadness?
