“Husband—”
On a night in August, the stars twinkled brightly.
The radiant moon cast a gentle glow over the earth.
At the foot of Hantu Group’s building, a light and crisp voice rang out.
Before Mo Xuchen could react to the sound, he felt someone throw themselves into his arms.
And then…
He was hugged tightly…
Looking down at the person in his arms, his sharp features were cold and distant, his eyes darkening with anger.
His thin lips pressed into a tight line as he spoke emotionlessly:
“Let go.”
Chen Qi had just opened the car door for Mo Xuchen when, in the blink of an eye, he saw their always untouchable President being hugged by someone—and instantly froze.
Especially since this person had just called him what?
Hu… husband…?
First of all, it was a boy, and on top of that, his clothes were tattered, his whole body filthy…
How could this possibly be their President’s wife?!
Chen Qi would rather believe the world would end tomorrow than believe this boy was Mo Xuchen’s wife.
Mo Xuchen tried to push the person in his arms away, but not only did he fail, the grip around him only tightened.
His face darkened with anger as he shot a glare at Chen Qi, who was watching the scene.
Chen Qi: “!!!”
He’d been too busy spectating and forgot to pull this reckless person away from the President!
This is bad, this is bad!!!
Even after work, he’s still dealing with this nonsense.
Chen Qi hurriedly stepped forward to pull the person away. “Let go! You—let go right now!”
But the boy clung tightly to Mo Xuchen’s waist, as if he’d rather die than release him.
The boy looked thin and frail—how was he so strong?
Was he an assassin sent by a rival company?
Ji Yunzhi refused to let go, determined not to go hungry today.
“No! I won’t let go!!!”
“Waa—husband, he’s a bad guy, hit him for me.”
Mo Xuchen: “…”
At this moment, who exactly looked more like the bad guy here?
Suddenly rushing over to hug him, calling him husband…
If his mood had been even slightly worse today, this person would already be dead and buried.
At 1.85 meters tall, Ji Yunzhi was slightly shorter than Mo Xuchen’s 1.92 meters.
Now, as he hugged Mo Xuchen tearfully, tilting his head up to gaze at him with a dirty but pitiful face, he looked utterly miserable.
Though his face was smudged with dirt, his delicate and well-defined features were still visible.
Especially those lively eyes, as if filled with countless stars—one glance could make anyone lose themselves in them.
“Husband, I’m hungry. Can you buy me some buns?”
Realizing he’d been staring at the boy’s eyes, Mo Xuchen quickly averted his gaze, unsure why he’d reacted that way.
Closing his eyes briefly, he repeated coldly: “Let. Go.”
Chen Qi swallowed nervously. This person had called the President “husband” again!
And even asked him to buy buns…
Could he be a little harsher with this guy?
Please don’t let the President come after him later!
Ji Yunzhi was startled by the intimidating aura radiating from Mo Xuchen. Sniffling, he stared up at him with wide, teary eyes.
“Husband… I’m so hungry.”
Mo Xuchen’s eyelid twitched violently. His expression icy, he said, “I am not your husband.”
Then, gritting his teeth, he shot a glare at Chen Qi. “Are you just going to stand there? Pull him away!”
Ji Yunzhi thought the husband he had chosen was a little too fierce. Trembling at Mo Xuchen’s sharp tone, he shrank back.
“O-okay!”
Seizing the moment while Ji Yunzhi was still stunned, Chen Qi forcibly dragged him away from Mo Xuchen.
This was the President himself ordering him to pull the boy away—if anything went wrong, it wouldn’t be on him.
“Husband…”
Forced out of Mo Xuchen’s embrace, Ji Yunzhi stood to the side, held back by Chen Qi. He stretched out a hand toward Mo Xuchen, his eyes red as he called out pitifully.
He looked utterly heartbroken.
Not because he was separated from Mo Xuchen, but because he was starting to think he wouldn’t get to eat any buns today…
Mo Xuchen frowned slightly, brushing off his clothes before deciding they still weren’t clean enough. He took off his suit jacket and tossed it to Chen Qi without a second thought.
After giving Ji Yunzhi a cold glance, he got into the car in an extremely foul mood.
Chen Qi, catching the jacket, immediately let go of Ji Yunzhi and fumbled to hold onto it.
He shot Ji Yunzhi a warning look before circling the car and getting into the driver’s seat.
Just as he fastened his seatbelt, he saw Ji Yunzhi plaster himself against the car window—right where Mo Xuchen was sitting.
Chen Qi: “…”
Mo Xuchen: “…”
Ji Yunzhi pressed his face against the glass, his big round eyes straining to see Mo Xuchen clearly.
Unfortunately, the car’s tinted windows were too effective—from the outside, he couldn’t see a thing.
His lips quivered as he called out softly, “Husband…”
“Husband, where did you go?”
“I’m so hungry… Can you buy me some buns?”
After a moment’s thought, Ji Yunzhi decided buns might be too extravagant and quickly amended,
“Or just steamed buns! O-one… no, two steamed buns!”
“Husband, can you buy me two steamed buns?”
He even held up his fingers, first showing a “one,” then, realizing one bun wouldn’t fill him up, hastily adding another finger to make a “two.”
(Though even two buns might not be enough…)
Mo Xuchen: “…”
Watching Ji Yunzhi pressed against the window, he rubbed his temples in exasperation.
He had no idea why this… kid kept calling him “husband.”
Did he really resemble his husband that much?
Still, the boy was surprisingly… well-behaved. Despite his desperation, he only clung to the window without pounding or kicking.
Hmm. Polite, but not by much…
Seeing Mo Xuchen’s thunderous expression, Chen Qi quickly got out of the car and rushed over, forcefully pulling Ji Yunzhi away.
Ji Yunzhi stumbled back, losing his balance and falling onto his backside.
Looking at his scraped hand, he glared at Chen Qi—a flash of cold fury in his eyes—before accusing tearfully,
“That hurt…”
“You’re a bad guy!”
Chen Qi scratched his head awkwardly. He hadn’t meant to make the boy fall—he’d only tugged lightly.
“Sorry about that.”
But the moment he saw Ji Yunzhi scramble back up and move toward the car window again, Chen Qi’s guilt vanished.
He immediately clenched his fist, putting on his most menacing expression, and raised it threateningly.
“Hey, Idiot! Get lost!”
“Or I’ll punch you! You hear me?!”
