Chapter 23 Hugging in the Rain

Leng Feng watched his comrade joking nearby, feeling like he wanted to die from anger. He snapped, “Aren’t you going to scram…?” His comrade Zhao Yi quickly moved away, waiting at a short distance.

The sky had turned dark, clouds thickening overhead, and suddenly a fierce wind blew. Leng Feng, seeing his comrade leave, hugged Lin Anran tightly, kissing her soft lips. Lin Anran nestled into his tall, strong embrace, responding to his passionate kiss, feeling the tide of longing and love surging between them.

Rain began to fall in large droplets, quickly turning into a torrential downpour. Leng Feng held her protectively, and they were undisturbed by the storm, continuing their intense kiss. Zhao Yi watched them amid the storm, envious, wishing he could hand them an umbrella. He shouted jokingly, “Even a storm can’t stop love! Leng, you should worry about your future wife in this little frame…”

Hearing this, Leng Feng loosened his hold slightly, still keeping her close, saying, “Sorry for letting you get wet. Let’s go…” Lin Anran burrowed into him, feeling warm, intoxicated by the closeness. She shook herself, realizing her thoughts had drifted, and Leng Feng, seeing her shiver, worried she might catch a cold. They walked together under the umbrella.

Meanwhile, in the hospital’s Emergency Room, Room 6, Chen Keren squinted, thinking about Lin Anran who had saved him. Despite her youth, her quick and precise movements suggested the training of a professional doctor, sparking his curiosity. Outside, the thunderstorm raged, and he looked thoughtfully at the window, rain pouring harder.

He turned to look at the beautifully arranged fruit basket, a meaningful smile appearing on his face. “Lin Anran is truly amazing,” he said in surprise and delight. “Beautiful, skillful, and she arranged the fruits like this—really makes me admire her.”

Mrs. Chen, looking at the fruit basket, hesitated to eat it. Next to it was a cloth bag, which she carefully opened to reveal a delicate box containing glass bottles of skincare products, very refined. She also found another box containing something shaped like a human figure with roots attached. Surprised, she said, “Old Chen, look—what is this that looks like a human?”

Chen Keren smiled, thinking it must be extraordinary for her to marvel like this. “That’s ginseng. Hand it over so I can see.”

She quickly passed both the ginseng and the box. Chen Keren held the ginseng like a treasure and considered the valuable gifts Lin Anran had prepared—the cosmetics and the ginseng. He glanced at his wife and said, “I like it, but it’s too valuable; we shouldn’t accept it.”

His wife, noticing his seriousness, hesitated, wanting to speak but closing her mouth with a slightly comical expression. Chen Keren added, “You like the cosmetics; I like the ginseng,” looking at her with deep affection.

Curious, his wife asked, “What’s ginseng for?”

He beckoned her closer, lightly patting her on the hip: “It makes me more vigorous at night, to take care of you.” She blushed, brushing his rough hand with her delicate one, exclaiming, “Oh my! How embarrassing!”

Chen Keren laughed, “I’m teasing you. It also replenishes energy, improves immunity—really quite good.” He continued, “I’ve only read about this before. It’s valuable; we really can’t accept it.”

Seeing a trace of disappointment in his wife’s eyes, he held her waist: “We shouldn’t take other people’s gifts. We must live openly and honestly.” She nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Lin Anran, nestled in Leng Feng’s arms, felt a warmth spreading from her feet to her heart. Leng Feng, noticing her shiver, said, “Let’s find a hotel…”

Lin Anran, thinking about her need to adapt to their life and avoid trouble, gently replied, “Okay.”

Zhao Yi, holding an umbrella, said, “Boss, I’ve found a hotel.”

“Good, let’s go.” Leng Feng, noticing Lin Anran struggling to keep up, scooped her into his arms: “Hold the umbrella.” She obediently held it, pressed against his chest, hearing his strong heartbeat, cheeks flushing.

At the hotel, a receptionist quickly approached: “Are you checking in?”

“Yes, we’ve already paid,” Leng Feng replied.

The receptionist led them to Room 05. Lin Anran felt a bit awkward entering, noticing another room unmentioned. Leng Feng said, “Only two rooms left. Zhao Yi takes one; we’ll manage with the other.”

Lin Anran, her clothes soaked, lowered her head, not daring to look at him. Leng Feng, noticing her anxiety, reassured her: “Trust me.” She nodded.

Soon, Liu Yi brought two sets of clothes: “Boss, couldn’t find perfect ones; just make do with these.”

Lin Anran buried her head further, saying, “Okay… thank you!”

Liu Yi, scratching his head, thought, She’s my future sister-in-law… and said, “You’re welcome.”

Leng Feng, noticing Liu Yi dawdling, snapped, “Aren’t you leaving?”

Liu Yi laughed: “What a guy, distracted by beauty…” and closed the door.

Leng Feng quickly shut the door, seeing Lin Anran’s wet clothes clinging to her curves. Feeling a surge of heat, he loosened his shirt collar and, unable to resist his longing any longer, pulled Lin Anran close…
