Chapter 24 A man and a woman alone in a room

Leng Feng pressed Lin Anran against the door, holding the back of her head, kissing her cold lips. He traced along her earlobe, kissing her fair neck. Lin Anran shivered, responding eagerly to his domineering kiss. When passion reached its peak, Leng Feng released her and said, “Sorry, I…”

Lin Anran placed her fingertip over his lips and said, “No need to apologize. We are in love; there’s no need for apologies…”

Hearing her words, Leng Feng felt a twinge of guilt and said, “Anran, let’s get married!”

“Married?” Lin Anran’s pupils widened in disbelief, her heart, just calmed, suddenly racing.

“I’ll carry you over—go change first, or you’ll catch a cold.” Lin Anran was touched by his thoughtfulness. She walked to the bed, noting the room’s simplicity; a 1.5-meter bed was still spacious. She efficiently took off her clothes and put on the sleepwear she had just bought. Turning to Leng Feng, she said, “Your clothes are soaked too; you should change.”

“All right,” he said, letting her wait while he quickly changed. Curiously, Lin Anran glanced back. She saw a scar on his back, his eight-pack abs, strong and muscular—truly a walking model of a man. She stared, still replaying the previous moments in her mind, not realizing he had already changed.

He smiled seductively, asking, “Looking good?”

Flustered, Lin Anran stammered, “I—I didn’t see anything.”

Leng Feng stepped closer, leaning to her ear, whispering, “I belong to you; you can look wherever you want.” He breathed hot air near her ear and said, “I follow your lead…”

Blushing, her heart racing, Lin Anran said, “You’re so annoying…”

He held her tightly. “I’ve missed you so much. I think about you every moment. You’re divorced, right? We’ll get married tomorrow.”

“How do you know I’m divorced?” she asked.

“I guessed,” he said casually. Since meeting him, she had already heard him mention marriage twice. His instinct made him believe her. She didn’t answer immediately.

Seeing her hesitation, he said, “I’ll wait for you,” holding her on his lap. Thinking she might be hungry after rushing earlier, he got up and knocked on the next room’s door: “Zhao Yi, go buy some food.”

Zhao Yi poked his head out, smiling, “Boss, it’s already done,” handing over some buns and pastries. Leng Feng brought the food to the room.

Lin Anran ate a little, drank some water, and noticed him staring. Feeling self-conscious, she asked, “Is there something on my face?”

“A little,” he said, gently wiping it off.

It was late June, the weather warm. Leng Feng lay with Lin Anran in his arms. She leaned into him, feeling a sense of security she had never known. He gazed at her beauty under the soft light, holding her closely, kissing her delicate hands.

Nervous, she realized the awkwardness of being alone with a man. Leng Feng suddenly kissed her, pinning her beneath him, and said, “Anran, I love you…”

Hearing his rapid breathing, she wrapped her arms around his neck, responding actively, saying, “I know.” She began removing her sleepwear, stripping completely.

Leng Feng, seeing her, picked up the clothes from the floor, saying, “We’ll wait until our wedding day. Then you’ll be completely mine, and I’ll be yours.”

“Okay!”

“Good girl, let’s sleep now—you’re tired too.” Lin Anran calmed down and lay gently, falling asleep after some time. Leng Feng watched her, smiling in happiness, and they slept quietly.

The next morning, the street outside the hotel was alive with breakfast vendors calling out. Lin Anran lifted her heavy eyelids to find him gazing at her with deep affection. She melted.

He had hung their clothes to dry overnight. Once dressed, they left the hotel together, bathed in the morning sunlight.

“Let’s go eat breakfast,” he said. At a breakfast shop, the owner admired the handsome couple. “Such a perfect pair! What filling do you want?”

“You choose whatever you like; I’ll have the same as you,” Leng Feng replied. Lin Anran ordered two bowls of spicy soup and six buns.

After eating, she remembered she needed to go to the hospital to see the director. Glancing at Leng Feng, she said, “I need to go to the hospital to apply as a doctor today, and you…”

“I’ll wait near the hospital, then we’ll head to my place,” he said decisively. She nodded, entering the hospital, thinking Chen Director should be discharged. She arrived at the office and knocked: “Hello, I’m looking for Director Chen.”

The somewhat impatient young woman from yesterday immediately stood up when she heard Lin Anran mention she was looking for the director. She said, “The leadership has instructed—surely you must be Sister Anran! Please this way.”

Lin Anran followed the young woman to Director Chen’s office and gently knocked on the door. A voice called from inside, “Please come in!” She pushed the door open and saw Director Chen sitting in his chair. As she walked in, he stood up and said, “Anran, please have a seat!”

Lin Anran watched him rise and sat down, then said, “Director Chen, I’m here to apply for a doctor position.”

“Oh, welcome! When would you be ready to start work?”

Hearing “start work,” Lin Anran felt a surge of excitement. She hadn’t expected the job to go so smoothly. She said eagerly, “Thank you for your recognition, Director Chen. I still have a few matters to handle, but I can start in two days. Regarding the salary…”

Thinking of her exceptional medical skills, Director Chen said, “With your ability, what salary do you think is appropriate?”

Seeing Lin Anran hesitate, he suggested, “How about 100 yuan per month?”

Hearing this, Lin Anran was stunned. At the time, even the highest-paid workers earned only fifty or sixty yuan a month—this seemed quite generous. She was about to speak when he added, “Let’s settle on 100 yuan! Come see me in two days; I’ll take you to the department.”

“Alright, thank you, Director Chen. I’ll handle my affairs first and come to work in two days,” Lin Anran replied.

Just two steps out of the office, she heard a voice call, “Doctor Lin, please wait—I still have a personal matter…”
