In the world, there are always some people, some things, that are already at the peak of life when they are born. And there are always some people, some things that, though starting at the lowest point, manage to climb to the highest peak in a not-so-long time.
It’s not that they work exceptionally hard, nor that they don’t. It’s as if they are accompanied by innate good luck. They seem to be favored by fate itself. Whatever they wish for naturally comes true. Sometimes, even things they haven’t thought of occur before them as if dropped by luck, making others jealous but unable to find any flaws.
Such individuals are known on Earth as koi fish.
And Grogh Planet is such a planet.
It belongs to a Class I planet.
Within the entire Interstellar Alliance, there are not many planets that achieve Class I status. Each of them excels in their own areas of expertise, and of course, they share a common advantage—they are all very wealthy.
Grogh Planet is wealthy too, but their specialty is… having exceptionally good luck.
Regarding this planet, Su Ge learned about it from interstellar science books before entering the “Wilderness Livestream” program. Who could have imagined that a book like “Interstellar Encyclopedia” would describe Grogh Planet as casually as neighborhood gossip?
It took Grogh Planet less than twenty years to reach Class I status after joining the Interstellar Alliance. Usually, in twenty years, a planet might struggle to advance from Class V to Class IV. The time and effort required for each subsequent promotion increase geometrically.
Yet Grogh achieved this rapid ascension thanks to their three subsidiary planets.
It’s rare for a main planet to be smaller than its subsidiaries, but Grogh’s main planet is roughly only one-third the size of Earth. Such a size would already be considered tiny within the Interstellar Alliance, bordering on micro-scale. However, their three subsidiary planets are all large, with the largest being over a thousand times the size of the main planet.
However, size isn’t the key; it’s the fact that all three planets possess a special metal. This metal is indispensable in both technological and construction aspects within the Interstellar Alliance. Moreover, the extraordinarily high concentration of this special metal on their three subsidiary planets is jaw-dropping.
In theory, their situation should have made them vulnerable to exploitation by larger planets. However, they managed to survive wave after wave of attacks and ascended to Class I status at rocket speed, firmly establishing themselves as one of the dominant forces within the Interstellar Alliance.
If there’s anything not so great about this planet, it’s probably that the inhabitants of Grogh Planet aren’t particularly good-looking.
Su Ge herself has never seen someone from Grogh Planet, but Flynn has. Rubbing his chin and looking at the creature on the ground, he said, “Apart from not having fur like the inhabitants of Grogh Planet, everything else looks very similar. Of course, people from Grogh Planet can speak and have their own writing system, which is quite different from them.”
“Too bad I don’t really know the language of Grogh Planet, otherwise, I’d give it a try.” After observing the “monkey” on the ground for a while, Flynn shrugged his shoulders.
At that moment, a very distinctive voice came from the crowd. Su Ge felt that this voice sounded much like the calls of those “monkey” in the forest. She followed the sound and saw it was coming from Nalita.
Her lips moved gently, and a highly unfamiliar sound and language flowed out from the corners of her mouth.
At this moment, everyone looked at her with extreme surprise. She cautiously spoke a long sentence, only to find that the other party didn’t react at all. She closed her mouth abruptly and shrugged at everyone, saying, “He’s not from Grogh Planet, since he doesn’t understand the language.”
“You actually know the language of Grogh Planet…”
Grogh, although they belong to a Class I planet, have such a sparse population that their language has always been considered a niche one and hasn’t been included in the common interstellar lingua franca. This is why everyone was so astonished when Nalita spoke in the language of Grogh, the planet.
Nalita was particularly proud of the surprise she caused, behaving as if she were a peacock displaying its feathers. She lightly covered her mouth, smiling proudly, “Well, you probably didn’t know that I’m fluent in over a hundred languages from across the Interstellar Alliance…”
Such talent and skill made Su Ge, who only knew Earth’s language and the universal language, feel not just envy but resentment; she felt Nalita was from a different dimension altogether.
Later, Nalita spoke a few more unfamiliar and extremely niche languages to the “monkeys” on the ground, but they didn’t react at all. Finally, Nalita could only express regret, “I think they haven’t yet reached the stage of secondary intelligence, perhaps they haven’t even developed their own language system.”
Before she could finish speaking, a peculiar sound suddenly emerged in the dark night. It was pronounced in a strange manner, almost as if squeezed from the chest beneath the throat, occasionally accompanied by howls resembling “pupupu.”
The “monkey,” which had been playing dead on the ground, suddenly began to struggle upon hearing the sound. It wriggled its body and head as if trying to respond, but this time Rong Shi was prepared. Upon returning to the camp, he had already sealed its mouth shut, so despite its struggles, it made no sound.
Everyone else became completely tense.
Among them, Rong Shi was the military figure, usually unassuming, but in this moment, his experience became the backbone for everyone. All eyes turned to him, waiting for his command.
Raising his hand to signal for silence, he turned to Sela and asked, “Can you tell from which direction those sounds are coming?”
Sela immediately listened carefully, then raised his hand and pointed towards the direction of the forest, saying, “It seems to be mostly coming from over here, but I sense they’re spreading out and their trying to surround us.”
This was inevitable; when humans faced such a situation with fewer numbers on the opposing side, they would surely employ encirclement tactics.
“Their individual combat capabilities might be lacking, but we don’t know their numbers,” Su Ge and Rong Shi initially leaned towards a defensive stance, but their ideas seemed rather pale at this moment, given their complete unfamiliarity with the situation.
“Let’s arm ourselves first, and deal with this wave no matter what.” Rong Shi quickly divided everyone into three groups, separating men and women, and pairing the strong with the weak.
During the nineteen days they had traveled across the planet, everyone had faced numerous attacks from different creatures. These experiences made it clear to all that this seemingly small desolate planet was absolutely unsafe. Therefore, whether it was Su Ge or Rong Shi, they made sure to find time every day to teach everyone proper combat techniques and how to use weapons.
Now, although the entire group couldn’t be said to have strong attack capabilities, they were at least capable of fighting. They knew where to strike for maximum effect and how to render the opponent defenseless.
Today was clearly a real combat situation.
This realization filled everyone with excitement and nervousness. Su Ge glanced at Abing standing beside her; among all the women, she was quite strong, but even she couldn’t suppress her trembling as she gripped the wooden stick in her hand.
The three groups moved in three different directions. Just as Su Ge was about to head towards the vegetable garden, she suddenly remembered something, stooped down, and picked up a stick. The flames burning fiercely on the stick made it the only source of light in the darkness, shining brightly.
She handed the torch to Zigmadar, gesturing for him to hold it in the midst of the crowd.
The vegetable garden had been a heavily damaged area for several days now.
As Su Ge and the others sprinted toward the edge of the vegetable garden, lit by torchlight, they faintly saw many dark figures darting back and forth among the crops. Su Ge’s heart instantly skipped a beat.
On the desolate planet 756, the climate accelerated plant growth significantly, so despite Su Ge and the others planting these crops not long ago, they were already approaching maturity. With just another two or three days of patience, they should have a bountiful harvest.
Su Ge couldn’t help but recall the sight of the corn this morning, trampled and ruined in the vegetable garden. Her scalp tingled, and a wave of intense anger surged within her chest.
This anger drove her to walk faster, and within a few steps, she rushed to the vegetable garden. The dark figures scattered away like receding tides upon her arrival.
In the glow of the torchlight, Su Ge surveyed the vegetable garden and felt a chill run down her spine.
The once straight crops now lay scattered messily across the field. The corn, rice, and wheat in the grain-producing area hadn’t done any better. Though the corn stalks were still standing, most of their fruits were gone. Luckily, the rice and wheat were unharmed, thanks to the group’s timely arrival, which prevented further damage.
But regardless, even if they only caught a glimpse of the firelight, everyone could see that the vegetable patch they had painstakingly cultivated had been completely ruined. Instantly, a burning anger ignited not only in Su Ge’s chest but also in the hearts of everyone.
Zigmadar roared immediately, “This is outrageous! I’m going to confront them!”
That’s exactly what Su Ge had in mind. She glanced back at a few people and eventually passed the torch to Glaki, who was taller than her. She instructed him to remain at the edge of the vegetable field, holding the torch. If any trouble arose or if those “monkeys” decided to attack, he should give a loud warning.
Glaki knew his shortcomings in combat, so he took the responsibility seriously and nodded. Afterwards, Su Ge, Zigmadar, Abing, and Li Ya proceeded to advance in four different directions around Zigmadar.
Su Ge was the fastest among them, and this wasn’t unfamiliar territory—it was the area around their camp where they worked daily. They knew it like the back of their hands. This was a home territory battle, giving them an absolute advantage. Quickly, they caught up with a group of “monkeys.” Without hesitation, Su Ge immediately raised the wooden stick in her hand and swept it towards the opponent!
Normally, Su Ge preferred using a sword, influenced by traditional martial arts and various martial literature. In the eyes of a farmer, swords seemed more prestigious, but in reality, swords didn’t always have the upper hand in combat.
Swords were more for stabbing, which was good for single-target attacks, but for group attacks, weapons like sticks, spears, and knives were more suitable.
Just as she swung her stick, Su Ge felt multiple vibrations reverberating up from below. These vibrations signaled her hits on the targets. In the darkness, Su Ge relied on these vibrations to better gauge her fighting situation.
With burning anger in her heart, Su Ge swung her stick without mercy. With each vibration coming from her stick, she heard a chorus of “pupupu” cries, yet she showed no mercy. Wherever the noise was louder, she swung her stick even harder.”
In just a short minute, Su Ge felt the shadows that had been surrounding her scatter away with a whooshing sound.
Like ripe persimmons being squeezed, these creatures reacted swiftly, retreating quickly and dispersing in three other directions.
Su Ge didn’t let them go and chased after them.
Zigmadar possessed great strength, though he lacked the speed of Su Ge and the practical experience of Su Ge. Nonetheless, when Zigmadar struck, his blows were forceful. The stick he wielded emitted a whooshing sound, and just the noise of it striking your body made your scalp tingle.
Although the “monkeys” were not mature in intellect, their instinct to avoid danger was strong. Upon hearing the sound of Zigmadar’s stick, they either stayed far away or avoided him. In short, no one came close.
On the other hand, there were many “monkeys” around Abing and Li Ya.
Su Ge and Zigmadar rushed over to help.
Clearly, the “monkeys” had good memories. Although Su Ge couldn’t clearly distinguish one from another in the group of “monkeys,” especially in the darkness, the “monkey” could.
They seemed to know that Su Ge and Zigmadar posed a greater threat, so when they appeared, the “monkeys” scattered in a flurry, not retreating but moving randomly from east to west or west to east. Su Ge and the others could not help but chased them back and forth.
Even though they occasionally managed to hit a few “monkeys” during their movement, the physical exertion from chasing around couldn’t be compared.
After two rounds of running, Su Ge snapped out of her anger.
Who said these secondary intelligent beings were idiots? These “monkeys” were clearly cunning. They knew they couldn’t match the people from the camp, so they simply circled around them, adopting an attitude of “even if you can’t hit me, I’ll still annoy you to death.”
Once Su Ge realized this, she couldn’t help but laugh at the “monkeys”.
She stopped running altogether and stood still, quietly watching as the “monkeys” continued to dart around as if playing with them. Soon, she noticed something else.
This group of “monkeys” only moved around in the darkness and avoided stepping into areas with even a hint of light. There were absolutely no “monkeys” around where Glaki was holding the torch. They mostly lingered at the boundary of darkness, moving back and forth like an arrogant pest, wasting their energy.
When Zigmadar and the others ran past Su Ge once more, she swiftly grabbed Zigmadar and said to Abing and Li Ya, “You two, go back to the camp and bring more burning sticks.”
Abing and Li Ya hesitated for a moment, then understood Su Ge’s intention. They nodded quickly and disengaged from the “monkeys”, turning around to run back towards the camp.
The “monkeys” obviously didn’t know why two people ran away, and they were two people who were easier to bully, but they knew that the two remaining guys were not easy to mess with.
They continued to run around, but Su Ge, who had long seen through this farce, sneered coldly and said to Zigmadar, “You stay here, I’ll go after them. As soon as they come close…” Su Ge made a ruthless gesture, while Zigmadar chuckled coldly as he watched the “monkeys” in the darkness.
He gestured back to Su Ge with a ‘OK’, then crouched down, gripping tightly onto the thick, long stick in his hand, his eyes widened as if he wanted to poke holes in the “monkeys”.
Su Ge seemed to still be playing with these “monkeys”, chasing after them from behind.
“Meanwhile, the monkeys continued to run and laugh mockingly with a ‘hehe’ sound. Even though Su Ge didn’t understand their language, she knew they were mocking her.”
Unfortunately, their mocking came to an end soon. As Su Ge chased or rather herded the “monkeys” towards Zigmadar, who stood motionless like a statue, suddenly leaped into the midst of the monkey group. His stick swung mercilessly at them.
The “monkeys” running in the front noticed Zigmadar’s actions and immediately stopped, some even wanting to turn around and go back the way they came. However, the large group running behind had no idea what was happening in front and were still crowding forward, not to mention that there was Su Ge running behind and chasing them.
Thus, the monkeys at the front had no way to turn back. They were shoved forward by those behind them, directly into the ferocious Zigumadar. His stick swung fiercely, and the air was filled with cries of agony as over a dozen monkeys were sent flying into the air, then crashing back to the ground.
This sudden turn of events caught the monkeys off guard. Even if they managed to react, they probably didn’t understand exactly what went wrong. They continued to be chased by Su Ge.
Each time they ran past, they faced Zigmadar’s fierce attacks. After being hit seven or eight times in a row, even these brainless monkeys realized something was wrong. They stopped circling around Su Ge recklessly and began retreating in quick bursts.
Whenever Su Ge charged forward, they didn’t engage in combat but retreated further back. They kept a distance from Su Ge and maintained a clear sense of distance especially when facing Zigmadar.
In conclusion, with both sides facing off, the monkeys probably harbored a mentality of “we can’t beat you, but we’ll keep annoying you” towards Su Ge and Zigmadar. Their stubborn and persistent behavior really disgusted Su Ge.
It was like encountering a soft and clingy leech.
However, this stalemate was soon broken.
In the distance, the voices of Abing and Li Ya could be heard. They were holding several blazing torches and sprinted all the way to Su Ge and Zigmadar. Su Ge took one of the torches without hesitation and hurled it towards the densest cluster of “monkeys”.
The “monkeys” were clearly scared of the torches. As soon as the torches were tossed, before even landing, they shrieked and scattered.
However, because there were so many of them and they were packed tightly without any direction, they couldn’t scatter instantly. In the dark night, you could hear the black shadows making a “puff puff” sound. Even though some of them dispersed, many collided with each other.
Soon after, the ignited torches fell down. The “monkeys” below, in fear, hurriedly tried to extinguish them. Although the torches were tossed back and forth among them, several “monkeys” were ignited.
In an instant, numerous figures in the darkness were engulfed in flames, accompanied by various piercing screams. The shadows quickly retreated.
Seeing this scene, Abing, Li Ya, and Zigmadar didn’t hesitate. They immediately threw the burning torches towards the densest area of shadows. In an instant, flames erupted and screams pierced through the retreating shadows, signaling the utter failure of the “monkeys” attack this time.
