Don’t blame him! Chapter 57

Chapter 57

Mr. Xu, as he identified himself in the call, asked Professor Chen, “How did you arrive at the 60 percent probability? What specific technology and research topic allows for such precise numbers?”

Over the phone, Professor Chen couldn’t disclose details. He was known for his rigor as a biologist. Saying something like “I think I’ve found your child” and then having the results turn out otherwise would give false hope and then crush it.

Mr. Xu arrived, and Professor Chen instructed the security booth to allow him through. Standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows on the third floor, he watched as a black Mulsanne pulled up. A well-dressed man in his forties stepped out.

Professor Chen personally greeted him, observing his appearance. He bore some resemblance to Yang Yunran, but with the solidity and maturity that come with age. He was different from Yang Liming, who was a shrewd businessman. Mr. Xu carried an air of authority rather than calculation.

“When can we expect the results?” Xu Xing glanced at his watch. Professor Chen withdrew his gaze and replied, “The earliest… today, tonight.”

Xu Xing nodded with reserved politeness. “Then I’ll wait for the results at the institute.”

In truth, when Professor Chen observed his demeanor, he already knew the answer. The test results could be ready in as little as half an hour.

Seeing the latest paper report, Professor Chen felt a sense of relief, as if a weight had been lifted. His first thought was to inform Yang Yunran.

Returning to his office, he addressed Xu Xing, who had been waiting patiently. “Mr. Xu, the sample you provided isn’t from Mr. Yang. It belongs to an adult male. I’m not sure whose sample this is, but the results are in…”

Xu Xing sat calmly in his office, composed and restrained, reaching out toward Professor Chen. “Professor Chen, please show me the report. You actually already have the results, don’t you? I had someone check yesterday. You have a sister who gave birth in the same hospital as Wanyu. The child was named Yang Yunran, right?”

“Yes…” That could indeed be the reason for the mix-up,” Professor Chen handed over the report. After Mr. Xu reviewed it, he asked, “Is this the sample from your sister’s child, Yang Yunran?”

Professor Chen remained silent for a moment, then nodded. “According to my findings, twenty-two years ago, Mr. Yang’s child was named Yunran. On the same day, my sister’s child was also born and named Yunran.”

Professor Chen remembered clearly. On that day, both parents, originally from Fujian Province, consulted a capable master locally who suggested the name “Yunran” was auspicious.

So, that day, the name was changed to “Yunran.”

It seemed the hospital’s newborn registry had not yet been updated. When Mrs. Fang wanted to see the baby, a young nurse brought in a baby named “Yunran.”

Professor Chen continued, “It’s not a very common name. Perhaps that’s why the two children were mixed up. Later, Mr. Yang’s two-year-old child was kidnapped and sold. This child was named Youmo. It was less than a month ago that we finally found and identified him. I’m sorry I couldn’t explain the truth to Mr. Yang over the phone, as I had only been in contact with her assistant before and it was inappropriate to disclose the situation.”

“I understand, you’re also in a difficult situation.” Xu Xing didn’t explain much about this. Yang Wanyu suddenly needed medical examination and treatment due to a health emergency. To avoid affecting the company’s preparations for going public, very few people were informed about this, and even the special assistant was ordered not to disclose a word to anyone, hence stalling Professor Chen for half a month.

It wasn’t until Professor Chen contacted Yang Wanyu directly.

Xu Xing asked, “So, where is Yang Yunran now?”

“Yunran is in Hunan, but Mo is in Beijing… If I’m not mistaken, the sample you provided was from you. You’re Yunran’s father, right? If you want to see Mo, I can take you there now. If you want to see Yunran, he’s busy with work. I’ll need to… make a phone call to him first Please wait.”

Xu Xing said, “I don’t want to see anyone else, I only want to see my child.”

Professor Chen nodded and went out to make a phone call.

The information he received was the same: when Yang Wanyu was a nurse, her husband, surnamed Tao had been paralyzed for many years and passed away from his condition ten years ago.

Originally, he thought this Mr. Tao might be Yunran’s father, but it turned out his biological father was someone else entirely…

Though he couldn’t understand the details, at least Yunran’s immediate family were all alive and found!

Professor Chen immediately called Yang Yunran. The call was answered by a girl named Doudou, who was walking Rang Ge’s dog in the elevator lobby of the office building. She said on the phone, “I’m the assistant. He’s currently in an audition, so it’s not convenient to take calls. Is there something important?”

Professor Chen said it was very important, so Doudou immediately went to find Yang Yunran. Yang Yunran glanced at his phone; Professor Chen had left a message, asking him to call back after finishing work.

Yang Yunran put his phone aside and looked up at the male actor in front of him. He needed someone for the MV who didn’t require extraordinary acting skills but looked good and had presence.

There were only him and the MV director in the room. Several actors had come and gone, and finally, a female agent from the company knocked on the door and came in, saying, “Sister Xiao Du brought an artist over who isn’t on the list. Do you want to give him a try?”

The director asked Yang Yunran, “Yunran, what do you think? If you weren’t satisfied with the previous ones, shall we try the new one?”

Yang Yunran was pressed for time. “Okay, wait a moment. I need to take a call first, Director. Please wait for me.”

The new artist entered through the front door, but Yang Yunran, wearing a black duckbill cap, exited through the back door to return his uncle’s call.

“Uncle, is there something urgent?”

“Baby… Are you done with your work? Let me tell you something. Remember the DNA report with Mo… It turned out the results didn’t match because there was a mix-up at the hospital when you were little.” He took a long breath to prepare him mentally.

Yang Yunran didn’t feel much emotion about this. He asked, “Have they found them? Who are my biological parents?”

“Yes, your father is here today. After comparing his sample with yours, it’s definite. Are you able to come to Beijing today?”

“Not very convenient, because I still have work, and Harry can’t leave me… I’ll come back when I’m not busy.” Yang Yunran didn’t have a strong desire to find his biological parents. Perhaps they belonged to the original owner, not him.

Professor Chen said, “Your father’s surname is Xu, named Xu Xing, and your mother is Yang Wanyu, a well-known entrepreneur. They’ve been looking for you all these years. They love and care about you very much. They are your blood relatives, Baby. In this world, you have many people who love you… Do you want to take his call?”

Yang Yunran didn’t know what to say. He felt a strange panic about this. He had never had a father as far back as he could remember.

His mother said that when he was three years old, his father had driven drunk and got into an accident while driving him on the highway.

As a result, his father was paralyzed, and he underwent eye removal surgery due to a sharp object piercing his eye during the accident.

His memories of the following years were so fuzzy that he couldn’t recall them at all. Yang Yunran refused, “Later… Uncle, I have to go back to work. The director is urging me.”

He vaguely heard a male voice on the other end of the phone. Yang Yunran hung up first and stood in the stairwell for a while, looking bewildered.

“Yunran Teacher?” Xiao Du, an agent he had met that day, came over and called him, “The artist is ready. When will you be available to start the audition?”

“Let’s start now.” Yang Yunran picked up his phone and walked into the audition room. Xiao Du said beside him, “This artist is someone I’m currently managing. He has a lot of potential. He said he likes your songs and wanted to try out last minute, so I brought him over. But I haven’t informed Brother Kevin yet. If you think he’s okay, I’ll explain it to Kevin later.”

Yang Yunran said it was okay and pushed open the door to enter the audition room.

The young male artist looked like a current popular idol group star, with delicate eyebrows and facial features, and makeup on his face. He seemed very enthusiastic as he looked at Yang Yunran.

Yang Yunran wasn’t interested in this at all. Out of politeness, he sat down and nodded coldly, saying, “Let’s begin.”

“Hello, both teachers. I’m Jiang Yifan…” Jiang Yifan was afraid that Yang Yunran didn’t know his stage name, so he deliberately mentioned his real name, bowing slightly, “My stage name is Jiang Yifan.”

Yang Yunran didn’t react. He wore a duckbill cap and a mask, and his mind was still on what his uncle had said about his parents…

His mother’s name was Yang Xue, and his father’s surname was Tao. They had nothing to do with entrepreneurs. His mother only managed a barber shop in her hometown, taking care of a paralyzed husband and a disabled son—a common woman who never enjoyed the privilege of seeing her son grow up, as she passed away from cancer.

Yang Yunran was distracted.

He didn’t even understand why Jiang Yifan suddenly started dancing hotly, thinking he was being very sexy, winking at Yang Yunran, and bending over on the floor… making the director uncomfortable, scratching his head.

Outside the elevator lobby,

Doudou was sitting on a chair, holding a Samoyed, and playing with her phone.

Suddenly, she felt a slight movement on the leash in her hand. Harry went from lying down to sitting up, his black eyes fixed on the elevator door without blinking. It was as if he had caught a familiar scent, making him unusually restless, his tail sweeping back and forth on the ground.

Doudou thought Yang Yunran might be coming out, so she looked around, but seeing nothing happening, she continued to play with her phone. Under every post insulting Harry and Yunran, she clicked “Report,” selecting “Personal Attack” as the reason. If the report didn’t work, she replied, “No, these are all false. Yunran himself is super handsome! I’ve seen him!”

The numbers on the elevator display got closer and closer.

“Ding—”

The elevator doors suddenly opened.

The dog on the leash suddenly broke free from Dou Dou’s hand and rushed towards the elevator doors.

Doudou was startled. She saw a man coming out of the elevator, and the Samoyed was pouncing right on him.

“I’m… I’m sorry!!” She quickly put down her phone and stood up, but when she saw the man’s face, she suddenly froze.

The man bent down and hugged the dog, stroking its fur, and said softly, “Has it just been bathed?”

“Y-yes.” Doudou stared blankly. As an assistant in the entertainment industry, she had seen quite a few good-looking people, like Jiang Yifan who was quite handsome just now, but most artists had a somewhat murky aura about them.

This man in front of her was completely different. Even in the entertainment industry, she had never seen anyone so handsome and pure in aura.

Doudou snapped out of her daze and quickly brought the dog back, saying, “I’m sorry, our dog gets a bit excited sometimes. I’m really sorry for dirtying your clothes!! But this floor isn’t open to the public, so you are…”

The man said it was okay, straightening up. He was very tall, so tall that Doudou had to look up at him. He glanced towards the door and calmly said, “I came to find someone. Give me the leash; I’ll take Harry down to play.”

Doudou: “…Huh?”

Then she heard him say, “The dog belongs to me. Are you the new dog walker? Tell Yang Yunran that I’m taking him away. Here’s my number. Have him call me.”

Jiang Yi handed her a note and happily led Harry away.

Dou Dou saw Harry being “kidnapped” without a care in the world, only then did she come to her senses. How could she be so distracted by a handsome guy!!

“Ah! Wait! Wait!!”
